There's also a difference in chapter 4. When Madoka says that she will never forget Homura or Mami, Homura thanks her and warns about her kindness in the anime. In the manga, she says "there's no way that you would remember..."

lol that's true. Same thing happened when Bakemonogatari 1st volume BD was shipped only about 40,000, which caused 'sold-out' everywhere in the store. Even when they increased stock a bit more for Mayoi volume, it was still not enough and ended up being out-of-stock again.

I'm highly anticipating vol.1 BD/DVD sales for Madoka. 90 thousand is extremely high knowing how everyone who bought the manga must have been watching the original series.

When the show's entire point fundamental changes from "All wishes backfire; No exceptions" to "Oh but there's this 'Karmic Destiny' thing we just pulled out of our ass that can create an exception to the rule" in a single line of dialogue, yeah, that's coming out of nowhere.

Especially when it's introduced literally 20 minutes before the ending to justify the ending.

Especially when it insults the viewer's intelligence and pretends to be actually based on something earlier in the series. I'm sorry, but the episode 10 flashbacks never properly convey Madoka was becoming stronger in each timeline. We certainly see Homura becoming better at using her powers in each iteration, and as Homura is able to inflict more damage on Walpurgisnacht, it takes Madoka less effort to finish the job in the first place. We also know the nature of Madoka's wish almost certainly changed in the much more desperate context of Timeline 4. But we're never shown a gradual increase in her base powers. And as far as Kyubey's "I'm surprised Madoka was able to beat Walpurgisnacht in one attack line" goes, all it establishes is just that. Madoka beat Walpurgisnacht in one attack. That might have actually meant something if we were ever shown how many attacks it took Madoka previously, and if it factored in the aforementioned variables of Homura becoming more useful and the origin of Madoka's powers radically changing. And Timeline 4 Gretchen only appears more powerful than Timeline 2 Gretchen because Homura left Timeline 2 before she was even fully formed. Literally every bit of evidence provided on-screen contradicts the "Madoka is independently becoming more powerful" concept.

It's like Urobuchi wrote the plot into a corner and then herp derped because he didn't want to go the Homura mimicking Kyoko's sacrifice / ultra grimdark route, even though the story up to that point was logically leading toward it. That's the only way I can explain it.

So why do you think Madoka had to kill herself? Simple. Because she's also not an exception and that's why her wish was well thought out because her wish ultimately defeats herself becoming a witch at the cost of herself.

And seriously if a lot of people are able to notice that Madoka was getting stronger each loop even before ep11 and ep12 aired then the problem is with your lack of perception. The explanation in ep11 was well thought out too. It explains why a plain girl like Madoka had so much potential rather than just Madoka being randomly special.

What you seem to fail to realize here is while the ending may not be a bad end where all the characters die it's also not an all is bright and sunshines/ponies/rainbows ending. The universe still maintains balance.

Nah, people in the ep 10 discussion thread saw that Madoka was getting more powerful, and thought that it was a direct result of something accumulating over the time loops
