Jinsei (La Bonne Vie)
Original creator (light novel): Ougyo Kawagishi Original character design: Meruchi Nanase Plot summary: The story centers around Yūki Akamatsu, a boy who joins the staff of his school's second newspaper. The editor-in-chief Ayaka Nikaidō immediately assigns him to the life (jinsei) advice column. Three girls — the science representative Rino Endō, the liberal arts representative Fumi Kujō, and the physical education representative Ikumi Suzuki — answer requests from students about whatever is troubling them. Note: Kawagishi started the light novel series with illustrations by Meruchi Nanase in 2012. The December issue of Shogakukan's Sunday GX magazine teased that an "a__me adaptation" project was in the works yesterday. Well the premise is kinda like a mishmash of Medaka Box and GJ-bu and I like the character design too. I don't have any expectations until they announce the staff but I can say the premise sounded nice.

I'm still scratching my head as to what this show is suppose to feel like. The best one I can come up with is watching a radio show where they move beyond the studio. It's obvious they are aiming for using "life wisdoms" as the smart part, but overall the character interplay feels laboured.
The girls are cute though, well drawn and has a tinge of ero, so I guess that's a plus? I really like the colour palette in this show.

My favourite part was the "indecisive club" segment and I do wonder if they're going to examine some of the consequences from their advice.
That said, the characters haven't really gelled for me, so not an instant like, but needs more episodes to see if it grows on me. |

Also liked the Indecisive Club sequence, but also admit to scratching my head a bit - the cameo appearance of the tiny figurine of the GJ-bu President at the top of the jenga tower is one hint, I guess. In that light GJ-bu worked pretty good for me, but it was not really something I eagerly anticipated week after week nor that has a lot of re-watchability in my good. I have a feeling Jinsei might turn out to be cut from the same cloth.
Will give it a try, I guess.

What's the connection to GJ-bu?
u Anyway, interesting 1st episode. Shows you the pattern and formula each episode is going to be. The conversation style reminds me of GJ-bu, and also I'm getting a very Minami-ke vibe from the character designs. Favorite is the sporty girl. Also they're really pushing the two glasses characters together.

That was overall a pretty enjoyable first episode. Nothing mindblowing, but just something nice to spend time watching.
Will say I'm somewhat surprised they dodged a possible harem situation by pretty much pushing those two together almost out of the gate. Nothing firmly set yet, but certainly didn't expect to even see that much develop in the first episode. In the end, not bad.

Both comes from the courtesy of GaGaGa Bunko, also involved in Sasami-san, Oregairu among others. They are known for adaptations based on high-quality light novel stories.
It's not just that, both series are pretty much CGDCT 4-koma manga adaptation lookalike but with a male lead, there's little romance as well.
