The first day of the ISML regular season comes to a close. This is out first good look at just how strong everyone is and who looks likely to make the playoffs. At least normally it would be. Due to the downtime in voting, some time periods are stronger than they normally would be while others are weaker. Even so, this is probably a better picture of things than the preliminaries were.
The new season of Oreimo is already having its presense felt. If you've seen episode 2 of the new season, it's probably not much of a surprise to see to see Ayase totally kill Ui in their match. Back in early 2011, Ayase didn't even hit 51% on Ui. While Ui is weaker now, Ayase still had to boost quite a bit herself to be able to clear 60% on Ui. While not as much of a boost as Ayase, Kirino and Kuroneko also have very strong performances in their matches. Kirino even comes close to knocking off Azusa. Last year it also seemed like Sena and Kobato were tied together in strength. Neither one ever seemed significantly stronger than the other. In preliminaries this year Kobato seemed to be a lot stronger than Sena and now she once again outperforms my expectations against Inori. Kobato only managed 51% last year on Inori and Sena barely beat Inori in a seeding match earlier this year. Sena on the other hand looked a bit weak against Mashiro but I guess I still need a bit more data to get a real idea on how strong Mashiro really is. Sky Raker has a great match with Yui while Kuroyukihime does a number on Yozora. A lot of people seemed to have doubts about Sky Raker's strength so I'm hoping this is a sign that she's as strong as I thought she would be and not just Yui being much weaker than expected. Nice try Mikoto but not enough to get past Eucliwood. She does better than I expected, but the new season of Railgun doesn't seem to be helping that much. I guess it only just got started, though. If Hinagiku is going to get a boost from the new season of Hayate no Gotoku, she could really use it soon. She's no longer strong enough to beat Yami. To be fair, Yami looks better than ever after the recent season of To-love-ru. To-love-ru Darkness has really helped out a lot of the To-love-ru character. Probably not quite as much as I expected but still very noticible. Kanade isn't going to lose this year is she? She just barely falls short of doubling Shana in terms of votes. While Shana has been on the decline, this is still quite the impressive feat from Kanade. Shana cleanly beat Yuri in a seeding match, and Kuroneko wasn't close to matching Kanade's performance on Shana in her match with Yuri. I guess there's still plenty of time for Kuroneko to get stronger for the new season of Oreimo. There's a lot of ground to cover, though. Asuna's match was against Suguha so we still don't know how stronger either of them really are. Maybe Asuna will find a way to top Kanade in the playoffs? Hopefully the next match day will have fewer problems and tell us if the downtime was screwing with results or not.

Seriously, what in the world is so moe about Eu anyway? Just b/c she don't ever speak? She's not even anywhere close to top on most moe kuudere list, much less winning with a comfort margin against Biribiri. On other note... 1. Haganai looks strong in prelim. But Niku is just bad against Mashiro. Mashiro is not weak, but Niku is not exactly "Lose to Mashiro by 1400" material either. Yozora is expected (Freefalling no matter which way you go at it). I would take Kobato's win against Inori with a pinch of salt. I mean, it's Inori... 2. Fire Sisters are also weak. Karen losing to Shoko of all people, while Ririchiyo-sama, who's not exactly strong in prelim, beat Tsukihi with ease. 3. ISML continues to defied logic and Rin won over Kud... 4. On the other side. Kirino's performance is fairly strong even though she lose. Of course, it can be K-On getting weaker... 5. Kanade near-double Shana, it's not unexpected. The only one I say has half a chance is Kuroneko, but Kuroneko herself doesn't exactly got an advantage over Kanade either (same voice...) 6. Poor Hina, that's what happen when you let Manglobe continue to animate Hayate. 7. And I'll complain again. Seriously, what in the world is so moe about Eu anyway? She's not even #1 IMO in her own series...

- I knew TLR was getting stronger, but I didn't expect Yami to win against Hinagiku.
- Mikan was sooooo close to pulling off a TLR sweep (Yui Kotegawa and Momo also won their matches, but I had a feeling Toka was much stronger than a Phase III challenger. Also 1-on-1 is alittle different than 3-way or 4-way matches) - A few other surprises (Silica < Kurisu, Rin Natsume > Noumi, Kanade > Shana (only because of how one-sided the match was), Karen < Shouko (actually all bakemonogatari reps had trouble in their matches) ARENA 01: Yuzuriha Inori [Kanzaki H. Btw talkative =/= has personality. You should realize that she is not talking not because she doesn't have anything to say or she is just too shy. She is just cursed by her own ability. Meaning she is forbidden to express her emotions even when she wants to express them. It's quite a despair to live like that. +5 ISML points for being a tragic heroine. Railgun just started airing so there won't be any real boost for quite a while. Plus i haven't seen anything Railgun related animewise for quite a long period of time. About AB, it was a nice anime and Tenshi is quite nice not to mention her ISML boost points, but i'd still vote Eu. I guess this is just my personal preference. Also AB is a finished product, while Kore wa Zombie is still going to continue, so it might be just people investing their votes wisely. Or i'm just over-thinking. |
