Summary:

Set at the end of the 20th Century. Due to the Japanese Empire, an island country in the far east having been conquered by Caesar, a resurrected hero from Ancient Rome, it is now being controlled by the neighboring county Eastern Roman Empire! The power that made Caesar the most powerful conquered was called Legion. That is, a mysterious army made up of gathering all the great powers; a giant winged army. The Japanese empire's imperial princess, Fujinomiya Shiori, hides her ambition in becoming the supreme ruler and starts to act. Who she chooses as her trusted commander is, at first glance, a mediocre high school student Tachibana Masatsugu. However, he too is someone who was reincarnated from a past warrior; a resurrected hero whose greatness rivals even Caesar's: Legatus Legionis!!

Re-reading the summary makes me confused, though. IIRC "Legate Legionis" was a title, not a name. And Caesar was one.

Siberian Federation, United States of America, and Chinese Republic.

My interest in this series was sparked a long time ago already.
I mean, seriously?

Takedzuki Jou of Campione and Leviathan for the story.
BUNBUN, the illustrator of Yuyuyu (and SAO, if some people are to be believed with BUNBUN and abec being the same person or something).

I'm always a sucker for series with historical references, and Takedzuki Jou already hooked me in with the series mentioned above.


About the story itself, so far:

A country in the far east that's already surrounded by foreign powers.
Literal one-man-armies in the form of ancient heroes.
A formerly exiled princess returning to her homeland, aiming to find the one of the above and recruit him for her own ends.


... Though the male MC isn't revealed yet, so I have no idea on how to judge his attitude.
From the conversation between the princess and her bodyguard, it seems like the guy's very aloof.

For now, I guess I'll restrain my curiosity and wait for further chapters to be released.

So no one wants to make a guess as to who our MC is the reincarnee of? Oda Nobunaga would be my first guess. My knowledge of Japanese history is lacking so I'm not too acquainted with other historical figures.

Does it have to be a Japanese hero, I would be more interested to read about a foreign hero being reborn as a modern day Japanese youth

It is more plausible that MC is a reincarnation of japanese hero, as from illustrations his Legion is equipped with katanas.
Nobunaga is a plausible guess (the legion wears oni-like mask, and Nobunaga's title is the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven), or the author can throw another curveball just like the identity of King of the End in Campione.

I will laugh my ass off if it turns out to be "Kusanagi"

I'd believe it if it the MC, Tachibana Masatsugu, really was the incarnation of Nobunaga.

He'd inherit his past self's ambition to unify, and conquer, the land.
His "Kamui"/"Kamuy" Legions also look like samurai, yet are armed with muskets, something Nobunaga used to great effect during the Battle of Nagashino against the Takeda cavalry, among other battles.


Although my theory starts to lose weight when we look at the British Empire's Crusade Legions and the Eastern Roman Empire's Centuriae Legions, who are also described to be armed with guns as well...

You certainly don't expect her to throw a teacup right at you.
Nor do you expect someone rushing at you with a wooden sword.

Masatsugu's also pretty strong physically, eh?
Casually shrugging off a fallen large object to save someone.

And I just recalled that he pretty much kabedon'd the Princess... on the ground.

Not exactly, since it literally said he was in push-ups posture, so I assume his legs are together rather than spread apart.

Got to protect those beautiful legs under him too!
