As a shameless lover of ero, ERO BANZAAAAAAII!!!!!
Ero can make a story better, because let's face it a pair of lovers are going to have sex eventually during their relationship, or if you've got some female characters captured by some bastards chances are good they're going to get raped silly. Ero adds that extra 'oomph' of spice and seriousness to the story. Without it, we'd get a watered version that lacks any of the extra tension and sense of completeness that you'd get with ero in.

I only voted "Aye" only because of the very, very few times when it actually works.
Most eroge I've played could honestly have done without the ero, as it's clear most writers have no idea how to write scenes like that, and it's also clear that they have a contractual obligation to provide ero. As a result, we get forced, poorly-written scenes with no value other than lolpr0n. And then you get games like Saya no Uta where the ero scenes are done both tastefully and to further amp up the creepy factor. That's how it should be done. Hmmm... I agree Ever 17 worked great with only implied sex, and at the same time kind of wish that some of the implied stuff with Takashi and Tsugumi was shown. One, because I absolutely love the pairing, and two, because it would resolve this question I've had in the back of my mind for a long time: is Tsugumi an S? |

Pretty much, yeah.
Which isn't to say that I think she'd be a really cruel sadist, but she does strike me as the type of girl who might bite and scratch a bit, and in general be more uh... "assertive and forceful" blend of affection than most. |

I would go for the middle option but, since there is no one I will go with aye.
I don't mind if the game have them or not since, I usually skip through them, except for the first one in the route and only 'cause I think it may hold some meaning. However, I won't deny I have read a few VNs only for the ero content.

Well, personally I think implied sex works in a story context in most of the cases.
From my limited (10-15 eroge I read) experience, the ones with a story that actually is worth reading and with erotic content didn't need the latter - the fact that the characters get intimate is usually enough to advance the plot. In most cases it's more like the sex gets tacked on just so that some lonely otaku has something to lighten up his otherwise bleak life But that it's not necessary to show the deepening of a relationship is, as already mentioned, being shown by Ever17 for example. (or in the JRPG sector, does anyone recall that there was implicit sex in Xenogears?) So, for random-not-story-relevant-sex-scenes, I'd clearly say nay. But overall, I can live with them being in because I don't really care about them. Fortunately the music changes when an ero-scene starts and ends, otherwise it would be a tad bit annoying. (on a sidenote, anyone knows of a game where the BGM during an ero-scene is not utterly terrible crap??) |

It just doesn't sound like an ero-theme at all. Honestly it reminds me of the Phantom Forest theme from FFVI. |

There are quite a few games where the BGM for the ero-scenes is actually good.

HI, BILLY MAYS HERE
|
Can I get a poll option somewhere along the lines of "Doesn't Matter/Who Cares"?
I mean, really...Call me callous, but I'll neither go into nerdrage if I don't get any erotic fanservice while at the same time I won't get offended if I do...If I have to think about whether or not I want some ero in my visual novel, then the visual novel didn't catch my full undivided attention in the first place...

Aye! Sugar-chan needs her pervy games! Reasons?
1. Its sexy! I think that playing an Ero game is better than doing so in the real world and having an unplanned pregnancy. But I still need to get out more -_-' 2. Many of then have anime adaptions, which are always pleasant to watch, though usually the anime keeps the erogue out. 3. Sugar-chan can't think of a third reason!!! |

So far the only game with some ero in it that I have played is Fate/stay night. Now I thought the first such scene )in the Fate route) was really good in the way that it felt real and complemented the story well. The ones in the other two routes were forced and felt more like fan service - I voted "Nay" for stuff like that. If it's there to improve the story, sure, I'll live; but most of the time it is there to increase the sales and it ruins the character images for me. When I feel like playing a visual novel or watching anime, it's for the story, not because I want to get the kicks on drawings.

in theory, i love ero, and i think it's a nice touch to the story, but when it comes to actual scenes presented in vns... i'd say nay to most of them. and like someone said here, implied sex works well enough. but i don't think ero scenes need to be vital to the story, purely fanservice ones would be nice too, if they were only written good. (unless they're completely random ) and why do i get the feeling that lots of eroge writers are virgins |
