Does this type of VN adaptation exist?
So I'm about to place a really, really tall order... hell, I'm not even sure if anyone will be able to come up with anything. But I have to ask anyways... basically, I'm looking for a VN adaptation that has a true "happy ending"; I just recently went through the BS of Utawarerumono and tayutama. Now, I'm about to cause a lot of VN players to scream in agony with this but... I can't stand the bittersweet endings that both those pulled (although Utawarerumono's was better than tayutama's). heck, I'm not even picky if the adaptation completely strays from the original. In fact, I suspect that what I'm looking for would mean the adaptation strays very, very far from the source. I'm simply after some sort of adaption that has an actual pairing (so please don't recommend harem endings), and they actually get to stay as a real couple, even if the story strays from the VN and "butchers" it in the process
A few of my personal favorites: Shuffle! (yes, it sort of had a harem ending, but there was also a definite couple) Chaos;head (I'm going make a lot of people moan in agony with this one, as I actually enjoyed it... IIRC, there was a definite pairing despite the harem feel) Brighter than the Dawning blue (I'm pretty sure this was a VN adaptation) So, other than what I mentioned above, do others like that actually exist?

Kanon (both 2002 and 2006) and CLANNAD (and After Story) have happy endings, though not after a lot of drama; the latter in particular just narrowly avoids a tragic ending.
ef a tale of memories also has a happy ending, though you'll have to go through an intense emotional roller coaster ride before you get there. |

I'll second CLANNAD and to lesser extent Kanon, as Clannad fits what you want better.
Also if you don't want a harem end in the adaption, have you considered the onmibus adaption style?[ie each Heroine gets there own actual arc/AU to act as their "route" with each of them being the lead in that arc, rather than all of them smashed in to one] Such as seen in Amagami SS or Yosuga no Sora.

Nanatsuiro Drops has a very happy ending.
Myself;Yourself arguably has a happier ending but had more drama getting there. Happiness! has a happy ending as well. They all have obvious couples as well. The heroines are obvious from the get go. And yes Brighter than the Dawning Blue ~Crescent Love~ is based on a visual nove.

Ah... so this means I just haven't done enough digging
I have both kanon (2006) and CLANNAD on my HD, and need to get After story as well... I'd totally forgotten about those (espcially CLANNAD). Ef: tale of memories is also another personal favorite, though I think I forgot about it after watching the much darker, sadder ef: tale of melodies Thanks for the suggestions so far; they'll definitely be hunted down soon enough
