The humor in this show is based on Kanako's fantasies while being surrounded by all these beautiful girls. The anime is just adapting the manga, but still it's good to hear that carries on in the second episode.

Strange that last week we have only the ED, while this week only the OP is shown. Must be a Shaft thing. Quite like the OP choreograph, I think my jaw still hurts at Mariya doing a full-frontal strip of Matsurika in the OP of all places. And unlike last episode, Matsurika here doesn't even wear a bra here, though no nipples were drawn.

Mariya may be mischievous, but he isn't completely a jerk. This can be seen in him apologizing and letting Kanako change alone (whether he means it or not is irrelevant, the thing is Kanako "gets it"), as well as saving her embarrassment as her stomach grumbles.

I keep seeing those funny thingys appearing in the corner of the screen, are they some sort of Shaft signature mascots or what?

I take it you mean in the second episode? I haven't seen it yet, though please post a screenshot so i can try to answer the question. You have me very wondered now at what Shinbo has brought back.

Matsurki's HUGE boob flash made me just like ......wut when i first saw it.
well at least they didnt draw any nipples. that was one thing I wasn't fond of in Sayonara Zetsubo sensei. There was ALOT of random fan-service. now I expect some fan-service......but differently in this series. I dont expect stuff like "onsen" scenes are random beach scenes/boob cleavage shots. So i hope it doesn't go into trashy fan-service mode (i guess we shall see)

I heard one of the production staffs saying the content in this episode is too long to fit, so they have to cut the ending. There'll be a Matsurika's Diary corner in the DVD so I guess the ending will be there too.

I highly doubt that one shot in the OP (itself simply a more derivative version of something we already saw in the show and know the context of) indicates that the show will divert from its roots entirely.

no no no I mean i dont think it would. the shot was funny (altho a bit disturbing ahah) but Im just referring to how Zetsubo sensei was done. there was ALOT of random fan-service which (to me) would've otherwise made the show excellent.

Like the one onsen scene with the face plastered over all their naughty bits....that was too much.
and Yes i understand it's point is to be a satire BUT a show like this certaintly would not "benefit" per se from extra fan-service so i hope it doesn't try needless for any.

That random fanservice in Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei is one of a few things that present in every chapter of the manga, among the line of Matoi, stick dog, Rozen Asō and such. I'm sure they won't add blatant fanservice shot without any cause.

Shaft style certainly never changed..not sure if this applied to other Shaft anime that i haven't see yet,but certainly the style looks like the OP from other Shaft animes that i already watched (Ef and Negima).Abstract and non linear i think are 2 words best to describe the style...if not,i think Pablo Picasso is more than enough.As for the OP itself...they certainly made Maria look devious under those beautiful cute looking innocent face.

To make it short,i didn't really care much about the other scenes of the OP..only the scenes which involved Maria and Matsurika gets my attention fully.Seeing Maria abusing his maid really made me bite my tongue..not enough with that,gently moving his hand upwards,touching Matsurika's oppai before stripping Matsurika's maid cloth in front of Kanako,revealing her swinging/bouncing oppai (i'm sure ep 1 didn't show Matsurika's oppai being that large and bouncy) which causes Kanako to jet off her blood from her nose....all i can say is...BRILLIANT SCENES!

Ever since Maria stripped Matsurika's cloth which revealed Matsurika's black bra in the previous,i had to admit that i couldn't get the black bra image off from my head.Now came the brilliant OP scenes..how am i gonna sleep after this >w<'''



Episode 2 -

I didn't count how many times Kanako got her nose bleed on this episode..but i think anyone would be dead if they lose that much of blood per day.

Starting with Maria showing his new school uniform in front of Kanako,with his cute innocent face,Kanako couldn't reject the cuteness altho she knew Maria's true identity.And becoz she knew it,she couldn't change her cloth normally since Maria shared the same room with her.Although she did make it to the school in time,but she didn't take any breakfast,which cost her greatly during the first day assembly inside the school auditorium (or hall?).On her way back,she with Ryuuken walked together with Ryuuken explaining to her about things that happened inside the dorm,before Maria interrupt it and youknowwhathappenafterthatifmariajumpsin..

Few characters were introduced in this episode..first was Kanako's homeroom teacher Kumagai Fumi which almostly made Kanako nosebleed..then the girls inside the class which she was placed in...also almostly lead her to nosebleed (that scene where she was amazed with the girls inside the class in a pervertic way looks really similar to the scene from ZKC where Akashi Kaoru started to hyped up during the class introduction when she saw other girls inside the class)..and we have Nanami Kiri,a silent spectacle wearing girl and the archer club president Inamori Yuzuru and double mini ponytail girl Momoi Sachi,and lastly the student council president,whom Maria was in bad term with.I'm not sure how Kanako rate all those girls inside her mind,but seems like even a normal face girl could made her nosebleed,as if she never seen a girl before lol.

Kanako's character i think could match certain pervertic male characters from other animes.Seeing a girl with such attitude really funny,since pervertic attitude is more commonly associated with males,so when a girl take such role,you really can't guess what the outcome will be.Maria in this episode becomes more devious,while Matsurika as usual,never changed.

There were quite alot of scenes which involves kanji and kana compared to the previous episode i think...and few manga style scenes on it too.Not sure if this is good or not,but certainly makes thing abit hard to understand if one don't understand the meaning of it.But i guess this episode was okay and easy to understand.

Oh? see i've never read the manga so I wasn't aware there was a ton in the Zetsubo manga. I've only read chapter 1 of the Maria+Holic manga but I assume it doens't have nearly as much as Zetsubo (manga) .or at least it didnt from what I read

I thought it originally, though seriously Kanako beats so many of those perverted male leads that we see most of the time. She just goes about it all with such a hardcore passion. It's the kind of passion you just can't help but respect.

As already mentioned, that amount of blood-nose is just insane. She must keep refelling herself while she's off screen. Sanada Asami doing a brilliant job here. You need someone who can talk fast and keep it up for Kanako, and she's doing just that.

I could probably rival Kanako with my love for Mariya, though we won't go there. It's just raw love from me. <3

Good to see Shinbo is re-using some of his past techniques, like the manga one which works nicely in this show.
