Same thing happened in Macross F series, and it's about as satisfying.
Hasn't stopped the likes of Noein being brought about. Don't care how they do it (time skip, parallel worlds, or whatever) but a proper romantic resolution is all I ask.

Noein had the adult versions of the characters around, from the future(s), there was miniscule romance involving the 12 year old versions (there wasn't much romance in it, anyway). |

My first thought about the name was Planet Earth
Nonetheless, reading the synopsis alone might lead me to expect it's going to be a standard "forbidden love story" between a boy and a girl, completed with mecha background and the Tanegashima part really sounds like Robotics;Notes. I really can't wait to see how will the visuals look like before I settle my own judgement of it.

Considering the shows drama is supposed to be centered around a boy, a girl, and a giant robot, I'm just assuming there's going to be one main romantic pairing. Unless the robot is sentient, and then...
Of course this is all assuming the creators are going for romance. Personally, I wouldn't mind something in a similar vein to RahXephon. |

Clean visual is on the official site if you look at the source code, it's just separated in two layers, so there's nothing magical on ANN. duckroll wrote the entire staff list as well:

I'd heard about this months before. I'm one of those people that thinks that for all of the failings of the Star Driver team, talent and ambition weren't among them. I think the pair going for another attempt at making a giant robot romance anime is exactly what the medium needs. Pretty visuals, interesting characters, an eye melting degree of fabulous. I don't even mind the premise so much, considering I'm a long time giant robot fan. Compared to something like Buddy Complex, that premise looks like Akira.
I'd had a reservation though. In a world where shitty CG robots have become the new normal, it's natural to be worried that this might be another one. I love giant robo anime, but CG robo anime doesn't get the same affection to me. Much in the way that I actually shouted "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" when it turned out that Nobunaga the Fool was going to have ugly CG monstrosities, I shouted in the middle of a public room "FUCK YEAH" when I saw that for this they were going to go full class animation. That means more star driver styled beautiful rainbow battles, possibly with less reused animation, since the backgrounds can actually be black now. Sign me up Bones. Sign me up.
