Video Conversion

Ok I have been messing around with this for about 2 hours now and I still can't seem to get this right:

I downloaded a video from youtube so that I could make a GIF file with Virtualdub; however, I couldn't open it because it was a .flv file. No problem right? So I downloaded Pazera in order to convert the .flv to .avi but even when I do that, Vdub still can't open it. The error message says something along the lines of "Couldn't locate decompresser for format "xvid". Then I google this and apparently the solution is to download ffdshow, but I don't know exactly how to use it.

Any help would be really appreciated

Just install it. Make sure you have application plugins > virtualdub checked.

I don't see a plugin folder in the VirtualDub program file...

1. Download the FFDShow installer
2. Run it
3. When it gets to the step with select components, make sure virtualdub is checked under application plugins
