As someone who read the VN, I found this episode faithful to the VN (was surprised to see the titles screen in an anime, so loled at that even though it was the same joke), but found that it cut around a bit too much (cut from present to past in attempt to establish the characters, then cuts to the schoolyard, etc). I found it a little rushed, but I'm not too worried since LB is a huge story, so I'm sure they'll find their pace and go with it. The VA didn't disturb me since it's Japanese, and they were using the same VA's as the VN, so I'm used to it, for better or worse. Hate Riki's voice though. The anime is worse in that regard since the VN only had small slices of his voice, but now it will be in every episode .

I laughed at the jokes, but a couple of them were poorly presented because of time constraints and the subtitles tried to translate terms directly to English (boys suggesting variations of "ohaiou gozimous". The joke wasen't great in its native language but even worse when the translator tried to "english-ize" it.

Animation wasn't great, which is too bad because the Clannad anime made those sprites look great in motion.

Well actually, Riki does have a different Seiyuu, as does Sasami and Mio (who we haven't heard yet). I'm pleasantly surprised that you concluded that they were the same people :P

Apart from the fact, it's the first episode, it's Key and the stuff they do are as predictable as Kyoani going do the next slice of life anime with "moe" in it (and yes even the excellently presented Hyouka falls into this). Which isn't necessarily a bad thing IF you know how to set your expectations. If you're coming thinking this is the next "epic" series along the lines of Madoka, Steins Gate or Fate/Zero then you're in for some major disappointment. I wouldn't even set the bar at Clannad After Story either since that's also one of a kind.
That's one thing everyone should keep in mind. After enjoying all their previous works (AIR, Kanon 2k6, Clannad and Clannad After Story), everyone is expecting or rather "hungering" for dramatic stories of that caliber. Thus, making people impatient and showing concern very early.

The first episode is awesome for me, even some animation might be a little bit bad comparing to some of previous or current works of J.C. , but that doesn't affect much.

The story in first EP just what I have expected. If J.C. still keeps up the work like this, I believe this gonna be the best anime in this season for me.

==========

BTW, There are still some people in my country who complain that they don't know what's going on in the first episode. I don't know why, since the first episode almost follows everything what the game did, doesn't it. And some people are still comparing the previous work of Key's anime that story plot might not be impressed just like others, a little bit annoying to me. since I think LB is also impressed, tearful but in different feeling. We might not find that kind of feeling we used when watching or playing previous works that much anyway.

Episode 1:

Not going to say too much. I've always enjoyed Key style humor. I like the whole "the protagonist of this anime would've played the role of the protagonist's sidekick in any other anime" set-up. I don't think it's going too fast, so I found it pretty enjoyable. The animation could be better and more creative, but oh well. I'm eager for the next episode.

, Riki didn't sound different enough for my to tell, and I thought something was off with Sasami, but her new VA's still loud 'n proud, so didn't bother me

+ Episode 01 realy follow the VN story with some minor change and minor timeline change.BGM same with the VN. OP and ED is great too. Riki VA and Sasami VA is good.
- Episode 01 using too much static animation, not colorful as VN, too grainy, and the outdoor lighting is too bright.

IMO, I'm afraid Little Busters! suddenly cut their episode from 26 to 12 like C^3 if JC Staff doesn't improve the quality Little Busters! in episode 02. Little Busters! is good anime but I think JC Staff still can do better at least par with Sakurasou.

Wait... that kind happens...?!

*more worried than usual*

IMO the episode was, on the basis of the typical anime, pretty average, but it's mostly because things were accelerated. They should stop doing that, for Pete's sake, and for their own safety. If this fails, I'm afraid that JC Staff 's reputation may be permanently damaged.

At least so far nothing to note about the episode. Sasami's voice just... rules as much as her old one. Rin being Rin. (it could use some more scenes I guess...) ... [mod edit: removed hints about future content]

well IIRC that kind has happened in many tittles for example C^3 was planned 24 episode and have 3 OP and 3 ED and in episode 09 they changing to OP02 and ED02 but suddenly end at 12 episode+1 OVA. and IIRC on Angel Beats! they was planned to 24 episode but they end at 12 episode+1 OVA because budget, that's why Angel Beats! was so rushed. And because of that I'm worried if JC Staff doen't improve quality of Little Busters! and market doen't like that, it will ended like that too.

I know they have announce to released 9 vol BD but they can change too if japan market doesn't like it.

Well, blame the people who are supposed to give them the budget.

Nah, neither of those examples are true stories. A show won't change lengths like this in the middle of production because the story is planned and the budget secured a long, long time in advance of the first episode airing. They're already doing pre-production work (and likely even starting production work) on the second cour's content now.

Angel Beats was always planned as a one-cour show but, from interviews, the author kept on wanting to add more and more concepts to it. As for C^3, Silver Link has never done a two-cour show, so if it was ever going to be 24 episodes it would have been a split-cour show or done in multiple seasons. The extra OP/ED were almost certainly part of the plan, probably to sell more CDs; it was not to correspond with a second cour.

So rest assured, the show will not be artificially cut short.

The only possibility would be a increase or decrease of budget (with drastic cut possible, but extremely rare case, such like the original TV run of Evangelion). That said, there is indeed no way to change the number of episodes, especially reducing them, considering the huge money sink it would be (unlike western cases, studios are -paying- TV stations in order to have their broadcast slots, so halving the number of episodes would be suicide financial wise).

So the only factor would be how the budget and staff will fare over time (be it better or worse).

J.C. Staff did a very good job in making this anime....
I miss some visual novel's gag like I found in Clannad... and here it is! Little Busters have it!
wonderful adaptation of Key's masterpiece

I'm not VN's player... so I'm pretty much satisfied with episode 1....
Kyousuke is really badass and cool.... while Rin is cute like hell.... xD
muscle-man and kendo-man are also in good term while Riki as main protagonist still play as observer right now...

hmm.... so when will my Kud appear in this anime??

It's cute! Rin hitting the ball with her Godly out-of-control strength really had me LOLING....most of the jokes were pretty amusing.

I had NO idea this anime was about friends playing baseball! I really like anime that focuses on friendship though and I've never ever EVER watched a baseball/sport anime before so that should be refreshing.

Also, Kyousuke is HAWT

You're not the only one wondering that....I bought TWO figures of her-she's so damn adorable!

But is "Naomi" Kud's surname or first name!? SO CONFUSED.

Kud's name is: Noumi Kudryavka (Kudoryafuka in Japanese pronunciation if I'm correct) (last - first)
and her nickname is Kud/Kudo (shortened form of Kudryavka)

I curse my work for keeping me away for this long...

Anyway, back, watched it, liked it...not much else to say aside from "It felt so great listening that that soundtrack...it felt nostalgic despite me having played the damn game plenty of times recently, one of which being a couple of months ago."

The art style...well it's better than the VN, though it'll take some getting used to.

Can't wait for my Anego to make her appearance...

Well, well, well!

I found myself enjoying ep 1 very much! I like where the story seems to be going and the overall "ambiance" of the story really yanked me in. I will continue following this one.
