I'm much more "myself" online, and unfortunately for you guys, it means that I'm LESS social and more of a smart-a*s. Ah, the security that comes with anonymity~

Hehehe, um, I am much more quiet offline. Although, if you didn't act like a creep, we would probably get along well.

I am louder, a bit quicker to judge (even though I try to stay level headed), and I can be really harsh

I'm very different on line than I am in real life. I think I express myself better on line because I have time to think carefully about what I want to say. I have difficulty thinking fast. Plus, I tend to be very quiet in person. I can communicate with people normally but I generally prefer to talk less.

I'm pretty much the same, since I don't think before I write. And I also don't think before I speak
But since the facial expression and emphasis is missing, people take me too seriously most of the time or think of me as a pretty serious person xD People always seem different in the internet then when you meet. I think I would hate my best friend with a passion if I only knew her online Same goes with a lot of my friends or people I met after getting to know them online.
I also think that, if I roam around english sites my limited ability to use the english language distorts my character additionally. Since I can't transport the way I speak in my native language just like that ^^

I don't act different conciously, but NO ONE is exactly the same on the net imo, at least they don't seem to be. An avatar isn't a good replacement for a face after all

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!

Actually, I'm a lot more talkative online. Offline, I'm much more of a listener, with the occasional wise crack thrown in here an there.

There was a thread like this? Kinda talk a lot online than offline. Gets worse at night that half the stuff I say to my friends online are what I regard as gibberish and a lot of youtube links.

Erm, I don't think I am much different in real life. I talk a lot, sarcastic, sharp tongue, make lame jokes, cruel sense of humour.............

Offline, I'm just a quiet, non-confrontational guy who barely talks to anyone. Online, I'm often a blunt and condescending cad whom some people want to punch through the screen. If you couldn't tell already, I don't have a rosy social life. This is not a way of life I plan to continue on.

And of course, there are certain things that I take a fancy to that I disclose online (including on this forum), but I will almost never mention these offline. This account is something I want to keep to my grave if I can.

when i'm online i feel more open and free because i find writing more easier to express myself rather than talking directly, online i am myself

Offline, i am not a very socialising person, i make few friends but i make the best ones, i am more of a silent type

I'm ... basically the same.

There are some limitations to online, which make me a bit different. For instance in a forum, I write long detailed replies, whereas in person, I would allow for more replies.

Same here... except for the need to speak English.... I'm silent to strangers but a bit talkative when with friends. Double it when we talk about anime. I usually talk in my own language than any other language.

90% of my English everyday is spoken (rather typed) in the forums online...

My demeanor and communication style is pretty much the same.

However, I do sound better on a forum medium because I have time to use the right words. I tend to fumble a few times when I have to convey certain thoughts on the fly.

Hmmm, wonder why I ignored this the first round back in 2008? Any way.... I'd just say what you see online is a *subset* of my overall self.

As far as speech versus written? I tend to write somewhat like I speak. The only difference is that while I tend to construct complex sentences, I'll temporarily forget nouns (e.g. "the thing for cleaning clothes is done.... um..... oh, the washer!").

I'll leave it to the people who have met me off-line to describe how different I am in real life. I don't believe I can give a complete answer otherwise.

I would like to think there is little to no difference, but how I perceive myself would naturally be different from how others perceive me. I do, perhaps, "speak" more cogently online than I do in person. And I rely a lot more on references while online than in real life, meaning that while I'm aware of a whole lot of trivia, I don't remember much of the exact details of each specific topic. So, I tend to fudge more often in person than when I'm online.

Depending on the situation and who I meet in the 3-D world, I'm either a lot more outspoken and sporting in real life, or more reserved and serious.

And I may or may not act my age.
