Magicka
Didn't see any thread about this game, so I thought I'll spread the word. Magicka is an action adventure where you play the part of a mage. Combat is basically combining different elements to form spells. The fun part is figuring out what spells are appropriate for different situation. What's more fun is figuring that out the hard way. Friendly fire is on, so you and your team will die alot, unintentionally or not. Especially in a 4 player co-op with each player firing their spells of mass destruction. Tons of references to pop culture makes this an entertaining and humorous experience.
Game is already out in Steam priced at US 9.99. Try the demo if you're still not entirely convinced at this gem. Also a Kotaku article which explains why ideal scenarios rarely happens in practice in multiplayer: http://kotaku.com/5742768/spell-chec...oid-in-magicka |

It's buggy as hell in multiplayer, a lot better in singleplayer, but still, too buggy to bother with right now. I downloaded the demo and it's very crashy. Like a lot of games, it seems to hate SMT.
Annoying to have to disable HyperThreading every time I want to play most games...

Seeing how silly and referency Magicka is right now, I imagine their new one will have every known Vietnam (and other war) films quotes and such in such a heavily parodied form it will be weird.
On a related note, TotalBiscuit and the Yogscast have a series of them playing Magicka. Six up so far with more each Friday/Saturday. Part 1: Multiplayer action in the "Mage Suicide Simulator" known as Magicka. Spoiler for Part One:
Part 2: Ninja looting and not quite friendly fire. Spoiler for Part Two:
Part 3: "Please stop healing me!" ~TB Spoiler for Part Three:
Part 4: M60s are OP Spoiler for Part Four:
Part 5: How effective can they be without Simon? Spoiler for Part Five:
Part 6: Introduction to Simon's Lightning-Ice-Arcane-Shield Mines (keybound to A-R-S-E) Spoiler for Part Six:
It is sort of like watching the Three Stooges with magic.

TotalBiscuit and the Yogscast continue to play Magicka...or maybe it is more them blowing each other up a lot for our amusement.
"Storyline gets in way of violence." ~TB Part 7: "I'm too busy trolling TB to do anything else" ~Simon Part 8:

The game or the videos?
The game I think is on Steam for 10 US dollars. The video I found because I started watching TotalBiscuit during the World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion Beta and have been since then. He and the Yogscast started doing these Magicka videos after TB did a "WFT is" video for Magicka (which is at the top of the thread) and an interview with the game desginers were he wasn't cynical at all about it...some he usually is about things. It is sort of a gadge. If TB isn't cynical about a game and enjoying himself, it probably is a good game. These videos and his other series were the game designers are playing their own game (as they get more drunk) makes it seem fun. Of course TB, Simon, and Louise are playing rather badly compared with the game designers, but even they sometimes blast each other up with random spells.
