(L+CR) Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge (The Severing Crime Edge)

There's usually one great show every season that gets nowhere near enough attention, and this looks like the one for Spring. It's truly spectacular.

The good news is whatever seems to be bugging me about the show's execution is slowly but surely going away each episode (or am I just getting used to it?), the bad news is that it's still there. Also for some reason when Kiri entered serious mode I thought he sounded a little like a female seiyuu voicing a teen male instead. Can't say I like the show's weird choice of throwing a colour filter over all the Killing Goods battles. Still, it may not rank amongst the season's best but it's entertaining so far. More hairsex less pee pls.

Looking at Kiri stroking Iwai’s hair outside the bathroom (and all the moaning by Iwai), a new vocab was born in my head: Hairgasm.

Watched the first two episode. Love the premise and the art... it's definitely weird, though. Probably a bit too weird for my tastes as I don't see myself pursuing it further. The guy who wrote this has to be quite messed up in the head. I'm assuming he takes a lot of drugs or something. That whole scene with Yamane licking her sisters arm was just too messed up for any normal person to write.

But amazingly enough that wasn't even the best moment of the episode. Kiri getting more turned on by Iwai's growing hair than her naked body was utterly hilarious.

Loved ep3. Kiri as badass good-guy with murderous intent and magical ability is a Good Thing. Hairgasm was also great, dancing on the edge of acceptable in a mainstream late-night anime. Iwai wetting herself would have seemed like strong drama to me if I hadn't known peeing was a genre of Japanese porn.

"Weird" stuff by an author who is "messed up in the head" is right up my alley, lol.

After ep2, I was wondering if this show would devolve into something repetitive and dull. Apparently not.

I can't tell if the color filter during the battles is for style or as a way to bypass censors, since grayed out blood is less extreme looking than actual red splattered all over the place.

Best episode so far, show's starting to hit it's stride now and Kiri turning into Nanaya Shiki 2.0 was definitely awesome.

Looks like Kiri is willing to follow his ancestor's footsteps to becoming a murderer. However, it is to protect Iwai. I have ask. Does Kiri love Iwai as a person or just her hair?

I thought it was a nice touch that they decided to stay in the room with gigantic windows with curtains wide open when he was warned that the crazy guy with the hammer might be going after the girl. I also liked how he somehow didn't hear the sound of the wall getting smashed with a giant hammer. I also liked that he had to open his eyes and face the direction of the smashed wall to finally notice it. I don't really get this series. The only thing that remotely stands out in this series for me is maybe the music, but a lot of Yasuharu's works are starting to sound just about the same now as well.

Spoiler for Episode 4:

This new spectacle adds a lot of suspense to look forward us into this new arc. There's a couple that appears to be nice, but something not very joyous hide inside them. The white-haired woman Hitomi looks a bit strange, her voice looks fatal but authentic. There's even a sadist named Nakajima that can spell torture material from his own bible. The policewoman looks a bit idiotic, I thought she was going to be a minor character, however she looks nice but I'm not sure if she'll appears again given her role. This week's Iwai's hairstyle was the best so far to me, and I'm pretty sure the next episode will gonna be scary as hell given the eventful transition at the moment.

Guess add hanging to the many fetishes this series is trying to add in.
Not a fan of how the narrative pattern. It seems rather sloppy. Staying with it because I'm curious to see what kind of Killing Goods pop up.

The M police-woman was funny.
The blind pianist/deaf host was a good development. Killing by music is pretty abstract, wonder what kind of reason they have behind this.

The sharp teeth guy with the "judgement book?" in an interesting killing tool.
Since Killing Goods become more potent the more people it kills, does that mean if this guy kills enough people with it, even a minor crime such as littering could warrant a death sentence.

Seems like Yaname is turning into ally now.

So we got introduced to essentially 4 new characters (2 Authors, 1 Instead and the other a policewoman). Interesting thing here is neither of the Authors wants Iwai's life, in fact they're are rather content with their curses. Another surprising thing is that the police is in league with Gossip which means they know about the Killing Goods. Going for them for help probably is no longer a good idea.

Going by her past, I got the feeling Yaname was never a bad person per'say, just who someone got caught up in ill luck and had much of her life ruined because of it. So I don't think strange she feels lonely due to her abnormally because at her core, she just a normal girl. She never intend to give false intel either to be fair to her.

From was I understand the Killing Goods are satiated as long as they have a target to destroy regularly. IIRC Kiri has been cutting his family's hair since he was young (well til they got fed up about it) so in reality he has been subduing the impulses of Crime Edge (while using his family as Insteads) without him knowing it. I think his hair fetish is separate thing that developed from that. So I don't think anything has really changed for Kiri with meeting Iwai aside becoming aware of the true nature of his shears.

The problem for now that Crime's Edge impulses get will stronger if he kills which is becoming more and more likely to happen when more Authors start coming after Iwai.
