That would be Pheonixfyre's Dione West profile, his background has him as an ancient shapeshifting alien Which I find most unusual, but not totally surprising. I think really need ALOT more character variety... I can see ghosts, vamps, chupacabras, daemons, Orkz, and other stuff on the horizon.

I don't think so. We haven't really seen evidence of human-like alien species in Nanoha yet, so that character felt kinda detached from the Nanoha universe to me.

…heck, I think Katel's power is pushing it.

Nothing too strange, if we assume there's..."variants" of Yuuno around. Heck, even my version of Dark Nanoha, "something" Fuma has her own version of Dark Yuuno, who's a shapeshifter as well, but he turns into a panther, and rather than a friend, he's more like a self-devoted love slave who was "enthralled" by Fuma's demonstration of love and friendship.

While strange for the Nanohaverse indeed, it's also a fact that it can also take place across a span of INFINITE dimensions. The Wolkenritter have fought alien-like wildlife before, it's not too far a stretch to have aliens in the Nanohaverse.

Well, we do get to see several humanoids with animal-like ears in the 'Airport' during episode two of StrikerS. It was before the Caro-Erio first meeting scene.

I don't mind the shapeshifting parts of it, as it's been shown that those with magical capacity can shapeshift. My problem was more with the immortality portion.

I'm assuming they were familiars rather than aliens, but to the point aliens wouldn't add anything more strange to Nanoha

unless we see sentient non-human beings running around or getting blasted, i think that is not a good way to go IMO, unless cyborg-ish...

or you can put in the scrin and be happy about it...

In any case, LoweGear, you said you thought my sibling pair was well-written. Do you think it goes well with the Nanoha universe? The two characters were originally made for something else entirely, so I'm curious.

^ IMHO, In terms of characterization and storyline, they seem the most down to earth of the characters here (without being too generic), so much so that they'll fit almost anywhere I admit. Put it this way, you can maintain their personalities and history, save for some very specific references, and your characters will still be themselves. (I think this quality is best used in a cross-dimensional capacity ) I'm also curious as to what you originally made them for though.

To the point, they'll fit quite nicely in the Nanohaverse, even their powers (such as Katel's plant based spells, not like we haven't seen plant-based attacks in the Nanohaverse).

Biography of Kaylin “Kay” Mathis: Artificial Intelligence Part II

KAI-01: “Shinji” – Second of the KAI series born only 3 months after Rey, Shinji is Kaylin’s network operator AI. He is responsible for searching, gathering, organizing and archiving data and information, using his advanced network access protocols and subroutines to quickly search for any information on Midchilda World Net. He is also responsible for advanced data extraction, programming and manipulation of data program-based technological artifacts, including energy-based crystalline artifacts and ancient computers. His search skills are so efficient that he can find any query on a database network, like Midchilda’s WorldNet in less than a millisecond, although as of current, the only system that gives Shinji’s skills a challenge is the TSAB’s Infinite Library. Shinji is also a skilled data hacker, able to bypass or defeat some of the toughest firewalls mounted by even the most skilled programmers.

Shinji’s avatar takes on the appearance of a Caucasian adolescent male of 16, with short, jet black clean-cut hair and black eyes; His avatar is often seen wearing an unbuttoned long sleeved-polo shirt over orange undershirt, and khaki slacks.

Of the siblings, Shinji is the most playful one, always looking for ways to joke around, and always looking to get Asuka’s attention (violently) through various means, from sloppily placed punchlines to just plain acting randomly. His antics will most often succeed in irritating Asuka enough to warrant a bloody retaliation (for a program), and more often than not Shinji ends up on Kay’s BIOS in need of serious repair. Nonetheless, Shinji does this in the nature of good fun, and Asuka and Rey silently appreciate his actions, though both would rather not say it (The former due to her innate stubbornness, and the latter “finds it unnecessary”).

He is also the selfless program, willing to help out others to the limit of his program abilities at the expense of his own time and energy, a lesson Kay had taught the young program, although Shinji sticks to this belief with absolute conviction. He has made many human friends this way, many of whom he met during his online activities, and holds him in high regard for his deeds, although most of them have yet to know he is not human. Incredulously enough, he is the only one of the AI siblings with a significant other, a 17 year-old Earth girl named Matsuri Miyama, who makes frequent contact with the young AI, whom she assumes is human, although details of their meeting remain unclear at current. Both maintain a steady very long-distance relationship, and both plan on meeting each other someday, although Shinji will have to overcome the difficult obstacle of him being a non-corporeal AI program.

I admit… there’s something really wrong when a 6-year old AI manages to succeed where a 24-year old human has failed… *sigh* Moving on…

As with Rey, Shinji shares one of Kay’s passions, in his case her love for “Anime”. He is quite the active fan, visiting numerous online sites to participate in discussion regarding the subject in his spare time, and when not seen engaged in viewing various titles from the genre, he can be seen in heavy discussion with Kay over various anime related matters. Shinji is especially fond of a sub-genre called “Mecha”, which typically feature giant humanoid machines as part of the story. His obsession with anime is such that at times he is known to change his avatar into one of the numerous machines in his favorite titles, and this habit extends to emulating the attire of various characters (this is supposedly known as “cosplay”, short for costume play”). Also, he is known to quote lines from various character dialogues, often using voice-changing subroutines to perfectly emulate the quote.

If ya recall Kha fought Scrin, Zerg, Demons, Invid and rogue Klingon factions from other planes when not involved in a major Lost Logia conflict.

No seriously. It's kind of a stretch to picture non-humanoid intelligent aliens in Nanohaverse, but humanoid ones, why not? In fact, I think human-derived Alien species like the dwarvian Squats of WH40K might fit. My other character, Tessa-chan's best friend, Nanoka, she's another example that she's a Half-Eldar, though from a fantasy POV she's a Half-Elf. That airport scene made me run wild with the various anthromorphs I can think of, but basically they are all humans with some genetic changes.

Hmm... I heard someone wishing for a ghost. Now should I bring her in... and maybe her vampiric friend... And there's that Forsaken boyfriend too...

I want to become a game designer one day, and these two characters are from games I've designed in my head. In the game series I've thought up of, there are many worlds, and these two exists in two of them. The Katel and M that's here takes qualities of both versions of the characters, plus a bit of original stuff. M is actually one of the few characters I've given a definate name, although M is just the first letter of that name.

Spoiler for space/off topic:

M is the hero of one of the games. In his world, there is such a thing called Dreamscape, which is a virtual networked world people can go into in their sleep, or through a computer terminal when awake. It was created when a group of people discovered a link between computer networks and dreams. It's basically a sort of replacement for the Internet.

In any case, M's mother(who's name starts with an S) is terminally ill and much of the game is about him coping with the fact. The game starts with M in a hospital, simply collapsing and entering a dream where he battles enemies(still haven't thought of a name for these). When he wakes up, he finds a girl in the hospital room he's in(she is not Katel) who tells him that he's a Dream Runner, and asks if he wants to join the Dreamscape Corperation but he declines.

Dream Runner is a person with the ability to enter other people's dreams. If they do this while the other person is awake, it will force them into sleep. The main purpose of this ability is for the Dream Runner to defeat the enemies that exist in their dreams, which usually represent mental barriers the person has created for themselves that prevents them from doing something.

Katel is just a NPC for the normal portion of the game, appearing alone in the Dreamscape at first, but with another person later on. There is also an unlockable post-game movie sequence which describes a part of her story, but that's about it. She is not M's sister in this game.

In the other game that they're in, M and Katel are brother and sister, though I haven't thought of much backstory for them yet. The game takes place in a floating city in a world where magic is very common. M and Katel's spells come from this version of themselves(although they do have similar magical capabilities in the Dreamscape of the other game). Since every character including the main character of the other game is limited to using up to 4 different spells while in battle, I thought up of multi-purpose versitile spells so that the characters are effective even without many spells.

Edit: Although, I'm not sure if what you mean by "down to earth" is a good thing or not…

Don't worry, down-to-earth is a quality rare seen in character profiles; we tend to want too much out of our characters And besides, it's variety here ^^

So what type of game is it supposed to be, RPG? And another thing, when I said your characters could work in a cross-dimensional setting, I never imagined THAT to be their original intent Dreamscape sounds like a promising premise though, would make for a good psychological thriller/action title XD

The one with M as a main character is a 2D action game in the style of Mega Man Zero with some RPG elements. Its main game mechanic is the ability to change your perspective by 90 degrees when faced with a path that's perpendicular to the current path, allowing the user to navigate a 3D world with 2D controls. The game is actually a sequel to another game I designed in my head.

The other game is a more ambitious sand-box game with some action elements.

It wasn't the original intent. I first created Katel as a side character in the sand-box game. I also created her brother then, but at the time was nothing more than a blank slate.

After a while, I began to design another game in my head, this time the 2D action game. I created M as the main character and designed him, giving him a wooden katana. He was more-or-less a blank slate in terms of ability, as the player is allowed to upgrade him in multiple ways. I decided to adapt the character to the sand-box game, making him Katel's brother. To do this, I decided to flesh out his abilities and fighting style more, which ended up more-or-less what I posted in this thread. I then re-added Katel into the action game's world, but gave her a different role in the story.

As brother and sister in the sand-box game, I decided to give them both nature-based spells, but make them use them in entirely different ways. When deciding their combat style, this is something I kept in mind. I also made sure that if they fight together, they won't conflict with each other.

There was also a certain weakness I wanted to make sure they don't succumb to, and that was basically the high-speed character. To a primarly ranged character, a character who's faster can get into close range and make the former character's attack almost useless. To a primarly close-ranged character, a character who's faster can stay out of the close-ranged character's range and attack from a distance. The two character's spells were designed in order to overcome this inherit weakness.

Hmm, I always use the term 'eternal' when describing immortality through age myself. 'Ageless' is easilly misunderstood for someone who just looks young in my experience.

I didn't really like the term "Immortal" myself for describing the Iradorans, but I couldn't think of a better term. I much prefer "Ageless" to "Immortal." Although I don't like "Eternal" as much, because it makes me think of gods and such who are always present no matter what we wretched mortals do.

What annoyed me about the character was not terminology. Characters that are immortal, whether just by age or not, seem cheap to me.

Which is why I made Dione just an above average mage. Just because he's lived longer than any human doesn't make him exceptionally powerful. Nanoha could beat him up with both arms tied behind her back.
