It might make sense for SHAFT to wait until a novel coming out next year is out before the doing a prequel series. Kizumonogatari + Tsubasa's Golden Week as the next season and than the two sequel Nise novels as the 3rd.

But that would push completion well into 2012 ... why not stick with unfinished TV broadcast with the material at hand?

Also Koyomi Vamp could make an excellent movie that's speculation

Actually, I think Kizumonogatari should be a season by itself. I mean out of all the books, I think it has the most battle-scenes and those can take up a lot of time if they want.

Actually it wouldn't be complete since there's a another light novel being released in 2010 called Kabukimonogatari. I'm just thinking it would be best to group the two prequels together (since most readers say Kizu should be read before the sequels) and the two sequel Nise books as the third season.

Though they will probably animate them in the order they were released.. so maybe Kizu & Nise I & II as a two cour season. And than Kabukimonogatari and Nekomonogatari for a third season.

I took that into account:

2010: Kizu
2011: Nise
2012: Kabuki+Neko

But still, without even the first webcast there is no ground to predict, it's just the momentum from the high sales

Kizumonogatari is more suitable for a movie, I think. I want to see a movie-grade action-scenes.

Anyway, looks like some store already restocked the BDs and DVDs but most store including Amazon.co.jp still have to wait until the middle of this month.

I finally got my BD today.

Yea it's weird. I know hardly anything about Kizumonogatari except the basic stuff and that it has more action. And I was just thinking it would be cool if SHAFT made it a movie if it was short enough.

Over 44k copies and a complete sold-out... wow now I'm truly speechless!
I was wrong in my prevision, but happy about that.

Now we can really talk about Senjougahara fascination, or better, domination

I just hope Hitagi Crab is back in stock by the time the second disc is released since I'm ordering 2 discs at a time to save on shipping...

About Kizumonogatari though, a lot of it is still dialogue and internal monologue so they may still be able to do awesome action scenes. And they may get a big boost in funding since Bake is such a hit. One can always hope.

I'd like to see Kizumonogatari as a movie rather than a series. It would probably fit within 2 hours, and they could splurge on the action animation.

I agree that Kizumonogatari is suitable for movie.
1. Action scene will be beyond awesome.
2. No more cut cut cut. (I hope )
3. It will be a pain to watch entire season without Senjougahara-chan.

I ordered BD 1-6 from amazon.jp and they shipped on release date w/o any extra shipping fee. It's not like buying the MF BDs anymore when they charge you to ship it out seperately.

Hitagi Crab DVD (I don't know about BRD) is first today on the oricon daily chart

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/da/d/

it was 7th yesterday, and around 20th in previous day.

I guess the restock is complete... and it's still selling like hotcakes

That sudden jump is a result of Amazon.co.jp's shipping, though they went out of stock again. I guess they're leftover of the first shipment from Aniplex. Restock will be done in this week.

Confirmed sales from Oricon for Vol.1, will have to wait for 2nd week sales for Blu-ray though.

BD 29,372
DVD 15,513 +3,590

Total of 48,475 copies sold.

If we assume a similar BRD/DVD ratio as the previous week we have around 6800 for Blu Ray (and over 55000 copies sold in total ).

BTW I noticed they updated DVD cover for Suruga Monkey on the website
http://www.bakemonogatari.com/pac/02.html
Quite charming.

Yeah, I like the image too.

Here's waiting for a bigger version to show up in the image thread.
