It seems her conversation with Eri says something about how she likes Utsumi, to which Eri responds with it being an issue of love. From what I gather, Yuki has feelings for Utsumi, but what Eri is saying is that she's not in love with Utsumi. And something tells me that as long as this Tooru situation is over and done with, she'll never be able to love someone.

I do find it funny that at the beginning of the manag, Yuki seemed to be the mature and grown up character. Now, Shou has matured, Risa has matured, and Utsumi has matured-- while Yuki remains stuck in place after showing she's not as mature as she first lead us to believe.

I think Sasuga underestimated readers. People cheer for the broken bird type, but when they keep pushing it, they eventually get sick of it, which I think is what's happening with Yuki. People will eventually tire of her.

Also the personality change is too much of a drastic one.

Suddenly this tomboy wing_woman pal of pals is a delicate damsel in distress ?

This story was cobbled hastily... it feels hasty...

Sometimes I think mangaka should develop their stories in prose format for at least a year (beginning to end) before they start to draw.

Since I know very little of the art...

The need to draw is what drives the story and not the other way around.

I surmise that the need to tell the story in a visual way should drive the art... not the other way around.

I suggest that if they write prose only short stories to get the plot holes bugs out of their skill set whilst they are learning to draw... they quality of manga and eventually anime will sky rocket.

Yuki's statement about what the situation between her and Utsumi is like is to be taken with a huge grain of salt. It seems like the real meaning differs from translator to translator and according to their individual "interpretation" (read: preference). Even with Imanga's translation, whatever it will be, one will probably never be sure about this specific part.
Rather, we'll have to wait for Yuki's next reaction. (wish it was Yuki's next move)

Not really sure but at the end of the day Japan is already quite westernized in many aspects of their culture, so I'd say yes. Just look at the flashback of Utsumi and Izumi that is the background of the gift - The ring as a poweful sign of commitment, best inscribed with "I love you" as proposed by the jeweler. Maybe it's trinkets in general or maybe it's even specifically necklaces - Look what one single necklace was able to surface in KNIM.

In Ichigo 100%, Nishino was only wearing the ring, Junpei gotten her, few posters that I came across, complained that the author didn't add the necklace, but just like Waven explained, the ring w/ influence of western culture, has deeper meaning than the necklace (this was back in 2005).

But I like to see something changed about it, like a plot twist, just "if", Shou develops a better coupling w/ Utsumi, than Yuki afterwards, this would be very powerful, because how he has already presented the ring to Yuki and its only half way through the series (speculation of course).

I kind of doubt he would blow off Shou, the author wouldn't waste such a chance to bring her back for her to blow off by Utsumi. The manga was depressing w/ Yuki for months, this chance up, might help the series progress.

Others stated, that Utsumi might try 2 timing both girls on the same day.

I thought Shou was gonna be grade school teacher, I do have doubts of her teaching Utsumi anything at all

honestly, i hope the author make Utsumi studying with Shou...and don't accept the proposal of Yuki for help him in the study...
Yuki want to stay only friends with Utsumi..,this is a consequence for what she want...and sincerely,i want to see the face of yuki, when she know Shou has make a move to Utsumi............

This would make a big step forward in his character development,and for me, this is the best solution in this moment..,even if Yuki and Utsumi are now friends..,Utsumi need to go on..in his life..and this.., is the perfect situation..

I think him agreeing to study with Yuki wouldn't be a good move on his part for now. He's still got feelings for her and she just wants to be friends. He'll most likely end up getting his hopes up with her and be hurt again in the end. I'd also prefer him to say "no" and that he's going to study with Shou, though it depends on who he agreed to study with first. If he agreed to study with Shou first, then he should be studying with her. His face on the last page is the face of your typical indecisive shounen moron. I expect more from Utsumi.

That route is least likely to happen, SK might make Utsumi study w/ Shou to extend the series and provides more variety of routes to go through, like more drama etc..., plus what the point of show casing Shou, just to blow her off this quick.

I'm sure she know most the readers dislike the current depressed Yuki and enjoy Shou lovely outgoing present.
