Kyoani can't do adaptions because they're oh soo busy doing original works.

It's not just that. Even I want them to do something outside of their LN line up. The thing is, Kadokawa has an LN business and so does KyoAni. It's seemingly unlikely for them to work together all of sudden with both business vying for the same target.

If we're to expect anything external the most likely choice would be from Pony Canyon/TBS. For me it's even more logical to expect a Key adaptation than expect another Kadokawa project.

I could be proven wrong when the details are announced but I still wouldn't bet on Kadokawa x KyoAni.

Kyoto Animation's direction is getting different since they start doing their own nominations and actively making homegrown animation.

It's not like animating the light novels will getting anywhere. (I'm looking at you IS2)

May as well pretend this spin off as the TRUE ORIGINAL work.

hyouka and chuunibyou?

sorry for being ignorant but I don't see the current problem. Aside from I don't like much their current trend of work which is most moeblob or comedy mix in drama or whatever kyoukai kanata is. It just doesn't click me, their comedy is not funny for me anymore.

I had complaints yes, but so far. the last time I remember Kyoani doing haruhi series. I want to murder them with their eternal 8 but the movie is good....

so I really don't have a clue on why it won't be kyoani who is animating.

Aside from what I read in the new post where kyoani is also doing light novel business now.

Eh. Kyoani's LN brand is a branch of kadokawa. It is more likely for Kyoani to do it. I just want confirmation on the studio.

I get what can get. Yuki-chan is quite cute 4koma (chibi ryoko~)

Thought I don't think we get full anime. And we get 5 minute flash animations

Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan was closer to the original series animation than the chibi-huge heads style of Haruhi-chan.

Nijicho was fine (for warped comedy) and Haruhi-chan was good for a net series. So they can still do it. It is just a matter of if they want to/if someone wants them to do it. ($$$)

Still that doesn't mean they will ruin it if the anime was handed to them. Apart from Kyokai no Kanata, which isn't exactly slice of life, I can't recall any novel based anime done by Kyoani that can be regarded as 'bad' (Hyoka didn't perform well in terms of sales, though).

Anyway, pretty sure Kyoani won't be handling this spin-off.

What? No.
Some guys from kadokawa sneaker bunko formed kyoto animation esma bunko together with the guys from kyoani. My bad, I wouldn't call it branch but a refugee camp from guys that aren't happy in kadokawa and guys at kyoani who want their own label joined forces.

Win-win situation actually.

Back to topic, still no confirmation about the studio??

For the puzzled and curious - I merged the posts from thread of the same subject originally posted in the "Upcoming Series" subforum with this one, and for now left the thread there with a single post redirecting folks here and locked. I will keep it there for a little bit yet until folks get used to casting their gaze in here instead. ^^

And may as well add my two cents that I am curious about the new series too. Nagato was always my fave chara of the franchise.
