Hmm... but I did sorta died after seeing those scans. I especially love the one with Nanoha/Einhart, Fate/Vivio, and Hayate/Miura in those dresses. And... the one with Einhart is not so bad either... heck all of them are great!

Funny thing is that when I saw Caro, the first thing that pop in my mind was Milhi actually even if Lutetia was there... until I saw that she's flat.

Fate doesn't look like Fate anymore in all of Vivid's illustrations, and to put it bluntly she looks like a slut, god what the hell have they done to one of my favorite characters...

No offense intended, but you sound like you're new to the anime world. ^^; Has there ever been a popular female character in anime that hasn't been overly sexualized on the official art (leaving the rule 34 aside)?

Pretty new I guess, I don't usually dabble with animes because as compared to mangas, novels, etc the contents are usually very empty.

As you can see I have no qualms with the other characters (Nanoha, Einhart etc), but Fate's smile just seem weird to me.

Fate's smile is identical to Nanoha's in those illustrations. Almost to the point of being cloned. You're going to have to point me to an example, because I'm not seeing it.

I think it's because of Fate's eyes that the smile seems "off".

Only problem I have with Fujima Takuyas art is that he has zero imagination as far as expressions go. It's always the same thing. It's like he flips a coin to determine which of the two expressions he'll use.

Let's put it this way: When Nanoha or any other characters make 'that' smile, it doesn't feel out of place. Erotic, tempting; even when it were the kids whose making those poses they don't feel exactly out of character.

But when Fate's doing it the entire thing just feels wrong. No idea why, just personal opinion.

In my case i find anyone doing it weird but prime examples are Miura but most of all Shamal, it creeped me out when she smilled like that after Miura's fight with Micaiah.

Because Fate's a subdued individual. Closed lipped smiles fit her personality best so seeing her with these big bright open mouthed smiles isn't right.

Also, she's shy so seeing her in these fanservicey images and not looking embarassed about it gives the impression she's far more... 'loose' of a woman now.
