It was a good run but my pick for winning the contest finally loses. Nodoka didn't quite have what it takes to beat Taiga. At the very least, Nodoka went out with style. This match had the highest vote total by nearly 200 votes. 998 is the second highest number of votes a character has recieved in a single match and naturally the person who beat Nodoka has the highest at 1077. Taiga's 51.90% on Nodoka is better than Yui's 51.85% on Koromo and Nodoka was a stronger opponent. Nodoka should be stronger than Mihoko so Taiga should be able to beat Mihoko as well. Regardless of who comes out of Mihoko vs Yui, Taiga seems like the favorite to win.

After coming this far, will Saki really fail to get a character into the finals? Fukuji Mihoko is the last remaining character of the once dominant Saki group. Aiming to stop her is the last hope of K-On, Hirasawa Yui. Last round Mihoko took at Kataoka Yuuki and proved that she is as strong or stronger than even the more popular main Saki characters. Yui on the other hand had a worse performance against an arguably weaker Saki character. Perhaps I've misjudged Koromo, but it's hard to picture her significantly stronger than Yuuki. Looking a few rounds back, Mihoko stomped Ritsu and Ushio in Round 3. Ritsu is defintely a tier weaker than Yui and was probably hurt by Ushio being in the match but there was still a large gap between Ritsu and Mihoko. Yui still has the advantage of the highest total number of votes recived (excluding Round 6). Going by this stat, Yui is way ahead of Mihoko. Mihoko hasn't even recived 4000 votes yet and Yui is getting close to 5000. Yui used to have the highest number of votes recived in a single match but Taiga vs Nodoka ruined that. That match also shows that Saki characters can reach a very, very high vote count if they really try. I was hoping Nodoka would beat Taiga so Yui would have an easier time with this match, but that didn't happen. I still have faith that Yui will pull through even if Captain uses both eyes. Lets see if Yui can take back the record for highest vote count in a single match.

Question: Does Mihoko have a very recent episode that makes people want to moe for her and/or defend her? My thoughts are that for the 2007 version to work, she needs that, because that's what Rika had at the end.

If she doesn't have his, it's all up in the air. Between the people and the numbers.

The numbers say Yui. The people say Taiga. Where does this leave Mihoko? Either losing to Yui or Taiga, with an off chance of a win.


However this also means that those that want a Yui or Taiga win can't relax either. A Saimoe victory will be a challenge this year.

the last saki ep had planty of mihoko, actually planty of all of them.
but its not really recent so i dont think it really counts..

Rampages have been stopped before...but it was with higher numbers than this...and usually much earlier than this. 2007 Hiiragi rampages where stopped, as were Fate and Suigintou...in fact looking at the numbers in 2007, the whole tournament was nothing but tactical voting ending in a fairly anticlimactic semi-finals and an only slightly more interesting Finals.

2008 was basically Kagami dominating everyone from the Prelimiaries onwards, with some interesting matches going on around her. It was more fun, but the vote count was considerably lower than 2007 which was lower than 2006 (which was insane).

2009 has had an even lower vote count, with them just getting over 2,000 votes in the Semifinals. This one has had more interesting matches, but there was a lot of Saki "domination" in the brackets other than E and F Blocks...which interestingly are where Taiga and Yui came from while Mihoko is straight out the the completely messed up G Block.

Where am I going with this....I don't remember. Just that nothing is certain in Saimoe.
