The last question arc in Higurashi was the one they introduced Akasaka and was set in the past (five years) during the Dam Incident and we meet a very young Rika. It also is rather confusing since you only have one of the main characters present for part of the arc and the main character is some guy you've never seen before and have no idea why he's even in this series.
But then Higurashi has also given us contadictory stories in an effort to gain clues as to what is really going on. By the end of the question arcs...that still wasn't clear. It wasn't even clear after the first two answer arcs. There was always something missing.

I think this is a more confusing episode than Episode 3. And that one was confusing enough. .____.; Then again, I guess the end of Higurashi's question arcs was also confusing, from the sound of it, given Rika's sudden apparent importance and Bern!Rika's first (presumably) appearance... Copied from a comment I posted on LiveJournal, because they're essentially the same questions. Spoiler for questions, questions...:

(I've been stalking the Umineko threads here for a while but it's time to make an appearance!)
Anywho, just wow, I had to go help myself to the 4chan thread. This one really is the most confusing... but if we take a grain of salt from Higurashi as well, Spoiler for Maybe spoiler...:
To that end, it seems as if nothing at all in Umineko can ever be taken for granted until we finally get into the answer arcs. How exciting... |
