If his name was Satanel he was defently an angel. That el ending is a reference to being "of god" . One series I follow has angels being quite unnerved when people shortened their names by leaveing it off mainly because there is only one acrh angel with out it and he kinda started a war against God

Iron first appeared in volume 6 of the novel with the demon Farfaello who wanted to bring Maou back to Ente Isla.

When Iron woke up, Nord and Lailah will specially bring him and Aecis to McDonalds to eat every single day.
Because the meals are not nutritious, so Maou scolded the two calling them "An embarrassing adult and an embarrassing angel."
Maou and Emi's relationship improved and they are no longer hostile with each other. Chiho was happy yet jealous at the same time. Although she's always smiling at them, pretending everything was alright, but she started hating herself for putting up a farce all the time.

Lailah works as a nurse on Earth.

Lailah's room is filthy.

Rika confessed to Ashiya. And because Ashiya holds Rika in high regard, he serious responded to her confession by turning back to a demon with the demon magic they hidden (refer to vol 10-12). Rika knows how precious the demon magic is so from this, she understood how much Ashiya treasured her confession and accepted the rejection.

The ancient demon King was human.

The angels are actually aliens who moved the the Ente Isla moon (current heaven) after their mother planet was destroyed. So they all wear that astronaut suit (refer to vol 10). The current elder of the angels is Ignora, who killed the ancient demon King and created the current heaven. She is also Lucifer's mother and probably the last BOSS.

The angels brought the tree of life with them to heaven. Using Ente Isla as a testing grounds, they created primates.

The first generation angels are the ones who were born and grew up on the original mother planet.

The second generation are angels who were born on the new heaven.

Lucifer seems to be an experimental subject which got merged with the 11th fragment (Same as the land lady and amano - refer to vol 11)
The reason for such an action is unknown (either Lucifer got some kind of terminal disease or Ignora is one mad scientist). But after the merger, he became an immortal who cannot grow old or die, a successful experimental subject who merged with [God] (The tree of life)

So Gabriel said " Urushihara's mother trepassed into a holy domain where no human should touch (The tree of life). As such, Lucifer has been called [Ignora's sin], the [Original sin] [the one closest to god]

The original destruction of the mother planet seems to have to do with Ignora.
"Rather than the fate of the world, the life of one's kin is more important. Might as well destroy the world that brought misfortune to said kin."
Perhaps that is what Ignora did.

Also, the impending disaster that is faced by the current heaven (refer to vol 8 and beyond) might have to do with the fact that the current heaven might be brought to ruin by Ignora.

So I'm done with Volume 2 of the Light novel published by Yen Press. I have to say that there were some fillers in the Anime that while enjoyable weren't particularly necessary. The novel might have ended with not much development of Suzuno's character at present but it added some background to her past, overall I think I liked the way things progressed in the Novel much better.

Spoiler for Anime vs Novel:

-The pool episode of the anime never happened in the novel. Not sure if it might have happened in another novel but at least it didn't in Vol 2.
-Suzuno doesn't seem to meet Sariel until his second attack to Emi (and Chi).
-There is no mayor involvement of Olba and Lucifer. Olba is mentioned to have been Suzuno's superior but he only sends a message with false information about Emi joining forces with Maou and letting people know that he's trapped.
-A little more background is added to Crestia Bell and the Inquisitors. They were both a judgement tribunal and a missionary organization and while sometimes they had to do "dirty job" they would for the most part take care of people that were seeking their own interest instead of humanity interest. After the war people started prosecuting them as well, so they had to be renamed as "Reconciliation Panel" with the task of "Reconciling".

Probably the biggest difference is:

-Suzuno does end up causing a disruption in the train lines by messing up with the Electrical Transformers. It doesn't mean that people were attacked but all the negative feelings of people being angry and stuck in the trains is what gives Maou the energy to defeat Sariel.
-The reason Suzuno has been feeding the demons is explained in the novel. She had the intention of slowly poisoning them with holy energy. The funny thing is that according to Maou that goes along the lines of eating food with trans-fat, additives, etc for them, so it might be "unhealthy" but it's not going to kill them . Ashiya ended up being affected because he was the guy with the lowest magical energy (Also he never ended up in the hospital).
-Maou ends up having to fix the Electrical lines and transformers of the train station so yeah, all his magic is depleted that way.
-Finally, a little more details are added on what happens afterwards. Sariel ends up joining the Sentucky for good, and Suzuno is openly showing that she's feeding the demons to "poison" them afterwards... Funny rivalry between Chi and Her about feeding Maou

I really wish they'd release Vol 3 before the end of the year but I haven't seen the details in Amazon yet... As always, if you have access to the novels in English buy them and help the Author that way! Reading the afterword and the resume collection is always nice

There'll be plenty of Maou x Emi moments waiting to happen, from what I've heard.
