Having watched the animated movie when I first read chapter 1 I did make a connection that Dirfringe is emmbeded in Quartz. This leads me to theorize something about that world's past and why Dirfringe does not recognized sorcerers.
Oil is rare this suggest some oil peak in the past but in its stead advances in fusion technology supply civilization with power. Until something happened. Something to do with Quartz. Quartz may not be native to this world. An alien substance so to speak. Dirfringe does not recognize those who can interface with it as allies. Which suggest whatever its enemy was used Quartz. |

And movie 1 is... too short. WAY TOO SHORT. If there's anything I hate, it's cliffhangers! Which is a shame, because Sigyn the movie was rather nice

As a casual fan of mecha, this movie was quite nice. I.G and XEBEC together can do some really good things it seems, unlike how Tales of Eternia TV ended up >_>. Haven't heard Hoshi Souichirou in a serious lead role in a while too. I'm strangely drawn by Sigyn's eyes, I just kept pausing whenever there was a close up of her face just to stare at how her eyes are drawn...
I'm certainly going to wait for more Broken Blade. This year has some neat movie lineups :3 |

Oh snap...I think I in love again...Sigyn WHAAAAAAAAAAA~
I'm surprised that there hasn't been more being discussed here since I really, really, really REALLY like the first episode. I was looking for some action/mecha type of story and stumbling onto this was no coincidence (it was fate ). I'm glad that I did watch this though since it initially slipped under my radar. The story is surprisingly interesting with the whole magic being the common thing in this world and our hero is someone who can't use magic. I really laughed when those people were unable to move the ancient robot with magic, I immediately thought "you have to do it manually" Sheesh, these people have gotten lazy of so many years I'm really looking forward to the next movie...whenever it is (probably going to read the manga for a quick fix though). And lastly, Sigyn is mai waifu!

But it doesn't look like they love each other as a couple (pointing to the ring scene).

I'm enjoying how the mechs actually get dented unlike most other mecha anime.
The problem is that the fights still feel kinda 'messy'. Probably too used to sunrise's style for mecha combat, still fairly interesting and 'realistic' for robots lol. |
