So I finally finished Coco's route just now....

Now that was a mindfuck. However, I did know certain things before they were introduced (like Tsugumi being Hokuto's mother) but I had no idea how they would transpire. I'm still kicking myself for looking at those few spoilers. I thought of a few random things that went through my mind as I finished it.

1. The main thing I found fascinating was how the plot sorta broke the fourth wall, with Blick Winkel basically representing the player and all, without getting ridiculous. I haven't really seen any other plot do this, and the way the story was made it is pretty much impossible to do as anything but a choose your own adventure type story.

2. One thing that did bother me was the way the game went back on it's own logic.... with Hokuto jumping down to the bottom and all. I kind of attribute this to Blick Winkel possibly having some effect on the person it possesses, giving them some sort of extra boost of energy or something (seriously, every person s/he jacks into seems to be able to do ridiculous stuff).

3. I didn't really get when Tsugumi got pregnant. I didn't even realize that they did it until the scene when Hokuto/BW jacked Takeshi's perspective when they made love (yeah I'm slow to catch on to these thongs)... but isn't that kind of weird? I mean, seeing the moment mom and dad conceived you... from their perspective no less....

4. I almost manly teared when Tsugumi and her kids were reunited.

5. After letting it settle in my mind a bit, I was thinking about how BW's plan worked and it boggles the mind... how would s/he awaken unless he went through with his own plan? It would have to be awoken and conscience of it's plan for it to work, but in order for it to get started, it has to awaken which can only be started by it's own plan and ARGH time travel is a bitch.

6. Also, it seemed to me they introduced the bizarre sci fi elements and problems too late, and resolved them too quickly. I mean, you don't even find out about BW until the very end.

Overall it was a quite enjoyable experience(but it still doesn't beat out my beloved Saya no Uta, which is ironically the polar opposite of this game), and like others I'm going to miss playing it since I'd spent the entire week basically marathoning the game when I got the chance. Is there anything else like it out there? I mean, with the whole scifi/mystery thing. I've heard from others that Remember11 is very similar (and takes place in the same universe and all).

Quite disappointing that Sora turns out to be a hologram rather than an android. Tsugumi on the other hand seems to have a tendency of going nuts while Yu seems to enjoy being a clown of some sort. For that matter, I am not sure which ending to get.

You will only be able to get You's ending if you play as Kid. So it seems the only endings left for you in Takeshi's route are Tsugumi's.

Based on the walkthrough on Gamefaqs last I check, it seems the choices I made don't follow any particular route. Usually, this will result in getting a bad ending but I have never heard of Ever17 having a bad ending.

I am already at the point in which Tsugumi had fell unconscious due to an injured leg. Strangely, I had made the right choices at the valves yet it turned out the way it did. Nonetheless, I picked to go with Sora and ended up hearing a long lecture on cloning. Generally, I get the idea that Shounen is Takeshi yet at the same time, they are not the same.

Isn't there a hidden character? I am already near the end of the visual novel yet nobody appears. If I am not mistaken, the life readings early in the story seem to reflect that as Sora is a hologram and shouldn't have any life readings. However, I didn't realize that earlier and now, it seems I will have to pay better attention on my next playthrough.

There should be three bad ends possible in the game: One in You's route, one in Sara's route, and one for both Sora and Tsugumi's routes.

When you say "end of the visual novel", do you mean to say that you've already reached Coco's route? If you haven't reached Coco's route yet, it's still much much too early to say that... Otherwise, just keep playing and you'll see it eventually.

The life reading still bothers me until now. I know that people have been explaining this one repeatedly, but I really can't grasp it all that well.

-If by "hidden character" you mean Sara Matsunaga, she only shows up if you're playing as the Kid.
-On Takashi's route, you have the options of Tsugumi's route or Sora's. The GameFAQs guide will give you a little hint on whether you're on Tsugumi's.
-At the end of Sora or Tsugumi's route, you'll either be given the good end for that route or Takashi's bad end.
-If you do get the bad end, start a new game and use a walkthrough and fast forward to get to the good end... I tried to guess where I went wrong my first time and eventually ended up doing this anyway after a few hours of guessing. Just save yourself the frustration.
-Collecting good ends is important: completing the four good ends (Tsugumi and Sora for Takashi, You and Sara for the Kid) unlocks Coco's arc, which basically tells you what really happened. It's more of a "putting the pieces together" kind of thing than a romantic arc... thankfully.

Spoiler for Valves:

The valves choice is just a matter of whether you follow Tsugumi's directions or not. Whether or not you follow her instructions, things will go screwy and she'll be injured, but the events leading to the metal collapsing and injuring her are slightly different depending on the choice.

Personally, I like Tsugumi's route the best non-unlockable route.

I recently played Ever17 - Out of the Infinity, and thought it was an amazing game. One of the best visual novels I've played! The art, voice acting, and plot were all really well done ^^ I was lucky enough to get one of the copies and play the game for myself, and after finishing it, I wish that the other Infinity games would be licensed. But what did everyone else think of the game? And the true ending with Coco?

One of the things I loved about this game was how it made you think and try to figure out what was going on, and in the end they really surprise you with the true ending! And whenever the game would get intense, it just left you dying, waiting to see what happens next!

I loved the game and so I decided to host an Ever17 English Dub!

Well slowly but surely I'm getting through this. The story has been really good so far. Just gotten through the two endings on Kid's side and now switching over to Takeshi.

Responding a little to Ever17, I have to say the voices for this have been great. Lot of familiar ones though I couldn't place some right away. Eventually had to stop and check it out.

Spoiler for Sara's Route and End:

It was interesting making that initial call between Takeshi and Kid. I just felt there was something really interesting on Kid's side that I wanted to find out more about. Probably was that mystery element.

Oddly I expected to go down You's route but soon Sara just caught my attention too much to ignore. Seriously I was a little surprised by her being Kid's sister. I mean there were some hints, but I tried to let them slide. Partly because I thought there was a relationship forming and it would have been strange. Yet that's exactly where things ended up.

The mental trauma was really shown off in this route. I mean getting taken in by that large group and experimented on due to their uniqueness. Must have been hard to get separated like that and have some peace yet not enough freedom to search for his sister. Hard to fight a giant group like that. Of course all the harder for Sara since she had even greater skills and so was seen as more useful for tests.

This ending just made me wonder about what would happen after that point? I mean they do have some strong determination to stay free and Sara has some great hacking skills so maybe they can create fake identities and live quietly somewhere. I just keep wondering about what the future will be like for them. Seperated for all those years.

Was a surprise to see the change in how Sara treated Kid after their connection was brought out. I guess it was just something locked into her mind that her brother was someone to rely on. Plus it must just be nice to rely on someone rather than having to stand on your own all the time.

Spoiler for You's Route:

Maybe I should have stuck with You, because doing her route after felt lacking compared to Sara's route. I mean they got closer and in the good end were together, but it just didn't feel as strong. Probably because on some level I was wondering what happened to Sara . But really it revolved a lot about the past that wasn't cleared up too much. I mean apparently Kid and the others got a lot of information, but I still don't get a lot.

I mean was You a clone or something? If you use her 'mother' as the daughter that was being mentioned at least the ages seem a little better. I guess telling her that story would be easier than saying that truth. Plus might explain the same connection to archaeology. Or maybe I'm just going off on a tangent.

Still I'll say they were a pretty nice couple especially in the epilogue.

The bad end for this route was a lot harder to get than Sara's. Since I was curious tried a few things and finally got it.

Anyways I'm glad I checked this out. The story has been great and I'm looking forward to the new perspective on events.

Edit: Well definitely an interesting experience going through things with Takeshi. Guy was more interesting than I thought when just looking at him from the one side.

Spoiler for Sora's Arc:

Since it was my first time looking at things with Takeshi this arc was pretty good. Though no matter how you look at it this one just feels more tragic. I mean even the good ending here involves Takeshi dying. Though maybe he and Sora fit since they both were willing to take such drastic measures when it came to the other. Actually attacking Takeshi's eyes to try and get him to go along with the plan on Sora's side. Then you have Takeshi deciding to just die with Sora rather than escape.

Memory really played into this one as well. If a person loses their memories then are they no longer the same? I guess this goes for Kid as much as Sora who would lose all the memories of spending time with the others while trapped.

Another thing was the introduction of that TB virus into events. There are only so many ways they could have gotten infected by it. Coco probably caught it when going down to visit her father. If it's such an infectious virus she probably transferred it to the others when meeting up with them. Either way there are questions as to the survival of the others that were even rescued. There was no way to absolutely cure even with the best treatment methods. So hard to say if they managed to survive the entire thing.

Still thought I stumbled onto an early bad end when Takeshi was trapped and the sprinklers were turned on. "Oh so that's how it ends " was my thinking. Of course then it turned into a battle of the Sora's which got pretty interesting. Though I can't say that being strangled by Tsugumi counts as cheating or something to be jealous of.....

I suppose one interesting observation was how Kid looked from another angle. He seemed weaker I suppose. Plus he felt less like an important figure than someone who fit more in with Coco playing around. Suppose it's just connected to the different viewpoint. Either way when he had his off moments he did seem to not be all that stable. Though I still like his character when comparing the two guys.

Spoiler for Tsugumi's Arc:

Well I have to say this was out of the 4 so far one of the better ones. There was a lot of depth on Tsugumi's side and some tough discussions about life, death, and living. I'd have to agree just being alive wouldn't quite be good enough. You have to be a little better off than that for it to be any good.

It was nice to find out more about Tsugumi and answer the question of why she was able to move around so easily after a serious injury. I guess that 'cure' is a double edged sword. You will survive pretty much anything, but at the same time it's not easy. She had to spend all that time in a research institution and was cut away from her old life. Plus not aging after 17 can't be easy. Of course probably better than not aging after 10 or 80. There isn't much choice for her in the matter of living or not. It'd take quite a bit in order to kill Tsugumi.

Her relationship with Takeshi was pretty good. It slowly moved forward and had some pretty extreme moments. Probably the most extreme was the whole crushing Chami to death and then having him revive. Still Tsugumi sure knows how to call someone an idiot in an endearing way. Too bad she had to be seperated from Takeshi in such a way. I swear people should work on the quality and upkeep of machinery. They got a busted sub. Still if it was both dying or living I'll give Takeshi credit for saving the girl.

Spoiler for Takeshi's Bad End:

Well I suppose it is including Sora and Tsugumi . But wow that was a tragic conclusion. I mean everyone just dropped one after another until the very end. Kid just went out silently in the pod, and eventually Takeshi went out in a world of red. You's was probably the most tragic to watch since you saw her slowly go suffering to the very end. Her cut off confession didn't shock me that much when I think about it. Regardless I couldn't help but feel sad for her as she went. Talk about a terrible way to die, suffering from that disease while knowing even if you held on the entire area was about to be destroyed. Just sucks no matter how you look at it.

Spoiler for Pre-Final Route:

After getting through both sides of Kid and Takeshi I really wonder what the heck is going on? I mean things just don't make sense in some regards. The reason behind Coco and Sara not being around at the same time for one. To be honest Kid seems a little different in both sides as well. Sure it may just be part perception, but I really wonder. Then there is the perception of Coco that Kid had in his routes. Also Takeshi heard Coco saying similar things in his route when she was by herself. All I can think is a couple options here. Could be some alternate realities and both Coco and Kid are able to perceive through them. I mean Kid was shown to be special like Sara so it could be possible.

Really I'm not sure what to think. Another thing is the Tief Blau situation. It just seems odd when I think about it. For Takeshi's route the thing was completely unknown and it sounded like it was recently created. I doubt they would be testing on something they created decades ago and that was supposed to be eliminated. Plus You in Kid's route knew about Tief Blau and it apparently was discovered over 30 years back. Anyways it's a bit easier to theorize when you look at the dates. From Tsugumi's talk about her age the incident they are dealing with occured in 2017. But You's mother apparently died in 2019 and that was 15 years back putting that event in 2034. What is weird is that Takeshi didn't know the date when Kid asked him and gave the 2017 date. Anyways the only thing that makes sense is Kid's route occurring in 2034 and Takeshi's in 2017. It would explain Sara and Coco's different presences. After all Sara wouldn't be there in 2017 and Coco would be a lot older in 2034 if she survived the TB infection at all.

It makes a bit of sense then. That major incident caused TB to leave the facility which caused the massive outbreak. Whether Coco and Kid survived is uncertain to me. Takeshi is screwed no matter his route. Heck maybe he just hung out underwater not aging for 17 years . Tsugumi could be exactly the same since she doesn't age. Maybe you in Kid's route is the clone of You in Takeshi's route. Sure we see Kid in Takeshi's route, but do we really get a clear picture in Kid's? Are we sure it's the same amnesia guy? Besides in Sara's route I swear Kid had orange/or blondish hair which clashes with Takeshi's view.....Actually I should have noticed before anyways, must not have paid close enough attention. Anyways different timelines makes more sense than alternate realities. They could have rebuilt the facility after the first disaster. Anyways that's where my wandering thoughts finished to this point. Now I really want to get to the last route to figure things out.

Spoiler for Coco's route:

Ok first thing was when we got to see Kid in that mirror. WTF!?!?! That's pretty much my thoughts at the time. No wonder he was freaking out if his mental image of himself was the same as when you took Takeshi's view. I mean that older guy with blond hair is definitely a change. Of course it makes a bit more sense why he would be an older brother to Sara (which felt odd since I thought he was shorter from Takeshi's view) and how he could end up with You on her route.

Okay you had to love that chick game. I'd probably end up crying as well, but Coco does make it pretty cute. I mean Louis XIV deserves so much credit for creating such a mature and elegant game such as that.

But damn the ending was just amazing. Some of it I predicted, but some of it was just outside of my imagination. I mean the whole thing with BW was pretty surprising. At least it makes sense how everything was tied together. That talk about the third eye and the 4th dimension actually mattered . Honestly I was a little pissed at Yubiseiharukana and Kaburaki before all the explanations. Since I couldn't get why they would cause such a situation and trick BW like that. Don't I feel like an idiot when it was actually BW that asked them to trick him. It couldn't have been easy for Yubiseiharukana to lie to her daughter like that nor to Kaburaki to work at faking Takeshi. No wonder Tsugumi was pissed off and suspicious. The whole thing was the same and she couldn't understand what the heck was going on.

Talk about a complicated thing. First BW/Hokuto had to save Takeshi, then save Coco, and get the disk with Sora's memories and the image of Coco up to You so she would help set the plan in motion. But they had to wait or else a paradox would mess up everything. Still makes my head hurt and I actually understand all that went down. I feel a bit sorry for Kaburaki who had a tough role to play in this. Plus he was in love with Coco which was obvious from the 2017 incident. Too bad for him that Coco fell for BW. I'm glad for the guy since he gained so much from the experiences but would have been lonely without those who could see him.

I'm really glad that Leiblich finally paid for their crimes. Those jerks caused a lot of people suffering. Tsugumi and her children went through hell and thousands died due to them playing around with TB. Finally they get what they deserve and should get torn up pretty bad by the forces of the world. Plenty died and just the stigma of causing a global disaster will break them.

Anyways hopefully the future is bright for all the characters. Though I still am not sure how the relationship between BW and Coco is supposed to work .

Well, might as well start off by saying this game was my first full visual novel (I tried Tea Society of a Witch, which I received for free along with Hourglass of Summer at Otakon '07 for $20, and I also played the Love Hina game for GBA before, but neither are as complete or extensive as this game, let alone on this level of epicness), and I still love it today. I'm also probably the biggest Coco fan ever. =D

Which brings me to the drama CDs. It would be great if someone could translate the fourth CD, since it primarily has Coco. <3
