I believe I said FFVIII had my favorite intro to any game and I still stand by that but while there are loads of others that are worth a mention, I do think I've found my 2nd favorite.

Totally played the game to death but Mechcommander had a awesome intro!

The cheese!

I've gotta say the intro of the first Max Payne game. Played that when I was like 12 years old. Good times. I love the film noir feel of the whole game.

By far for me the opening sequence for the original Wild Arms is my favorite in any game. An older game, but still a great one. It was just such an emotional scene by itself and once you played the game it became even more so.

Final Fantasy X had one of the best openings hand down. It just goes to show you don't need flashy sequences just emotion accompanied with beautiful soft piano melodies and scenery. The last great Final Fantasy game in my opinion.

Future Cop L.A.P.D still one of the most epic PSX games next to MGS and Resident Evil of course.

The next is Thousand Arms which features the song "Depend on you" by Ayumi Hamasaki. Unfortanlly, because of that song, all of the Thousand Arms intro videos on youtube had it removed for copyright. So you just have to watch it here on Dailymotion.

For a game that I originally didn't like that much, but began to love it more and more as it went on. The opening has somewhat grown on me~

Like many others have said, FFVIII had an awesome intro, but (probably will get some hate for this) I thought that was the only great thing that came out of that game.

As for others, aside from vanilla Persona 3 and 4, P3P and P4G had pretty neat intros

Spoiler for P3P OP and P4G OP:

Also, Chrono Trigger's epic intro for it's epic game.

Spoiler for Chrono Trigger OP:
