Actually, Touma would talk about how he isn't bothered by her preference and won't make fun of it, then say how he admires her for her loyal and devotion and how it's what makes her who she is- without that quality would be to deny her character, and then without realizing what he's getting himself into encourages her to stick to her beliefs (illusion).
