Um, silly question ahead
Do things like the festival near the end where they had to live in the Uni self sufficiently and the initiation where they had to steal the vegetables really happen in Japanese agricultural universities?

Watched Microbe Theatre Deluxe I. That was the most attentive I've ever been to any educational snippet in my life. :P

probably not as extreme, but i do know that a lot of universities have plenty of fun/wacky initiation rituals for 1st yr undergrads, depending on your school/department, my uni did.

My engineering department had a funny one, in that we had these fish tanks, that had assortments of fish for the biological lab, in this locked lab.

The head of the dept. wasn't on good terms with the Eng. dept (apparently.) so a feud was born.

So every year, Eng students had to figure out a way of taking out a particular fish and bring it back to our "turf" alive and without being found out.
if you were successful the Biological undergrads. had the painstaking work of collecting and restocking and categorizing it. Thus the hate continues.
If you get caught, you got humiliated and used by the biological undergrads for some of their wacky experiments.

funny stuff.

luckily i was never called upon to do that, as i switched to a design course.

Is there only one Microbe Theater Deluxe? Or is there one per DVD?

I just finished watching ep 1, and I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed by the comedy and premise of the plot! seeing microbes, really?? it's such a refreshing anime. I'm kind of glad that I'm watching this late so don't have to wait for the episodes to come out.

Speaking of manga material...

From Anime News Network:
Quote:
Del Rey Manga has announced at New York Anime Festival 2008 on Saturday that it acquired Masayuki Ishikawa's Moyashimon, Atsushi Suzumi's Amefurashi, and RAN's Maid War Chronicles (Maid Senki) manga.

The Moyashimon manga follows a college student who discovers that he can see and communicate with the germs all around him — germs that appear as super-deformed characters. Moyashimon won a Kodansha Manga Award for Best General Manga and the Manga Grand Prize in the 12th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes. The manga has been running in Kodansha's Evening magazine since 2004.
Another must have from Del Rey next year!

EDIT: MercFH: Yes, acquired=licensed.

I just finished this anime. Awesome!! well, I always have a soft spot for college anime... and we don't get enough of it.

uh.. 11 ep just aren't enough. It's too short. Would love to see more interaction and growth from the characters.

The drama in the last few episodes is well done though. We get to see more of Sawaki's relationship with the microbes, and he grows to understand where his interest lies.

Even Natsume Yuujinchou gets another season, let's hope this one does too.

Damn the personal relationships and characters are pretty good, better than he average overblown action/romance crap with random stereotypes in it.

This one by far is the best amine I have seen this year and I just got with Natsume Yuujinchou, I want more of this hell this is much more entertaining than Bleach, naruto, and half the shounen/omance/ecchi shows this year.....

This anime was pretty odd. There was no real plot and the main character himself had no real goal.
It was more like "Hey, I can't see germs! How fun is that?!" and that's pretty much it >.>
Though him kissing a guy therefore causing him to lose his ability was hilarious xD
I rate it a 3 stars (out of 5).
