Oh lord, that's horrible. So now Bee-Train is throwing bad jokes at us too?

Hmmm...I'm definitely not going to watch this just yet. Probably not for a few days even.

The more I read about it here, the more I'm beginning to think I should just wait for the translation and skip the raw entirely, in order to come out of the show with a fully informed impression and not having to re-evaluate my opinion not just once but twice.

The wait will bother me a little and it's probably a bit late for this seemingly obvious conclusion, but hey...it's the best way to resolve this impasse in a satisfactory fashion for me.

I would like to reiterate one final time, however, that I do believe the tone of the ending is fitting. The details are another matter and could make a big difference, thus I'll simply fade away for a while.

Sorry guys. All I can say that with the way it was concluded, and after reading through the script, it was a nasty rude surprise, but an absolutely fitting ending.

For those who are mad as hell now... wait for the subs, and take a couple of deep breaths. The ending is definitely consistent with the message of the storyline (and the ending song). And if you still can't take it, pretend that the last minute doesn't exist

Phantom overall gets a strong 9/10 from me overall.

The great lose of the great beginning. I don't like this sort of ends, this is a bored. But at least it's not melodramatic, but "true noir" end.

I have truly enjoyed following Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ these last 26 weeks. It was definitely my favorite anime of 2009. However, as expected, I'm quite disappointed with how BeeTrain handled things.

Spoiler:

As for the end, I'm still waiting for the subbed episode to comment any further.

Yeah, maybe McGuire and Elen where actually planning this from the start, and that's why she had that expression, they eliminated all their threats. *sarcasm*

lol...And we find out that SDM actually the good guy and Elen is the evil shemer...it would be damn hillarious.(but really shocking)

Anyways, about a certain endscene... you should put some parts of your post into spoiler tags.
There are a bunch of people who watch the anime AFTER it gets subbed...

BeeTrain just fuck things up and dwell on it and make it even worse. That's just how I felt about the ending.
Also, for people hoping for an OVA, don't count on it. As much as I wish there was for each ending, I think they would encourage people to buy the game instead of watching the OVA's.

I don't see why they'd encourage people to buy a 10 year old game that they can likely get used for 200 yen when they can make an OVA ending to replace a poorly received ending, and charge 5000 yen.

Who the hell would want to buy the OVA after this? The first 3 OVA's failed. The ending for the anime failed. Honestly, they are just giving Phantom of Inferno more negative reputation.

Overall, if they were going for an original anime ending, I would have prefered something like this...

Spoiler for How the anime should have ended:

Because the rest of the series except for the ending was fantastic, so an OVA ending that replaces the last two episodes and gives it a proper ending would make the entire series fantastic? Stop being so pessimistic.
