As for Shou-sama: I repeat my OMF-opinion: More Shou = good, unless it leads to SK making her teary-eyed again. I greatly detest the thought of Shou being used as a stepping stone (ie. temporary being together) in general. That's why if Shou were to become a "rival"/serious option again, it should either be for good or them "breaking up" on mutual agreement/good terms (don't care how dillusional it is). As for Kento? Shou bitchslapping wasn't enough. I'm taking it to the extreme, but he should die a cruel death. He might be one of the only characters which I really hate. |

The fucking chick he's staying with is kind enough to hold the poor guy's face in her hands and give him words of kindness and motivation, and he still wants to go back to Yuki? Then Shou comes back ontop of it all?
Is it possible to have a relationship in a fucking romantic series? At all? Are the authors that inept to write something about a couple already in a relationship? Or do their readers hate that shit? I'm not getting this stupidity, seriously.

good job by utsumi for directly explaining yuki the scene she saw that night and avoid more complications... it would be really annoying if utsumi will just face down and wont say anything (just like some authors would do)...
it's kinda sad for yuki because she cant control her fear, but she doesnt have to push utsumi away if he really wanted to help her... they're feelings are mutual so they should just take it slow, they're still young. it's better than forcing yourself to turn away and find a filler GF that you might hurt in the end... well, that's my case...

Truth be told, if Shou didn't pick Kento previously, it would of been a "good ending" and a forgotten one... Mei the "chick", she played her role as the guardian, positive she had no romantic feelings for Utsumi at all. It feels like she would of done it for anyone.

Most of the time the fail. Look at pastel. I gave that up years ago and don't even consider reading it again.
As to latest chapter, duh I'm dissapointed, he is still as shitty as he was, nothing changed ... Seems japs kids like this kinds of heros, well whatever. |

Series about an existing couple and how they deal with the ups and downs of a relationship clearly are niche products, the consuming mass just doesn't demand them as much. Such series may be good but they rarely pop up and are usually very short for a reason. |

Suzuka is another manga that did this right (imho). Last edited by AcroDave; 2011-08-03 at 16:25. Reason: Suzuka not SUKzuka - lol |

Er, have to agree. Story is in a holding pattern now. I don't believe for one second that the average japanese teenage boy actually identifies with these wimpy protagonists. I mean, sure I am no casanova myself and am not a real go getter type personality BUT FOR GOD SAKES. These limp dicked protags are everywhere. |

I've said this before but the majority of long term romantic manga ends up as a sports endeavor. You sit on the sidelines, you grab the pendant with your favorite character's name on it, and you wave it around frantically chapter after chapter in hopes that your pick will win. The problem here is that this series wasn't going in that direction, even when it had a faint scent of harem. Utusumi's has been gunning for Yuki for a while, and just when it seemed that things were finally going to kick off (and when I had full faith of a relationship being portrayed competently here) the tables are completely reversed, and this is somehow all completely thrown on Captain Crybaby. At this point every sane man would have gone with the girl who holds his crying face in her hands, but we have to pound it into the ground that UTUSUMI LOVE YUKI, NO CAN LOVE OTHER, DRAMA IS BAD FOR LOVE LOVE. Good Ending is way, way, WAY better than KNIM, but even KNIM has a freaking relationship now! How does that work? I just don't think the direction GE is going in is a good one, I shouldn't actually dislike Yuki but her and the rest of the crew are actually getting on my nerves. Quote:

Instead of having people scramble to a girl, dangling some bait in front of them every so often before actually letting one of them sink their mouth into it, would it kill an author to take one girl and have the audience fall for her? Make her human (with faults) of course, but instead of shoving three tropes cardboard cutouts into the picture you can flesh out one guy and girl out amazingly. Whatever. If it sells, it sells. *sigh* Quote:

A weekly romance series with a (pretty much) set main pairing - According to romance fiction standards (you could also say: cliche) they remain in a "non-couple" state, as AcroDave's posted with that trope.
If the couple is finally happy together at last the story is bound to end soon or dragged to boredom since from that point on the main appeal of how the main leads got together is lost, just as the trope's description correctly states. On the other hand if the series is dragged by maintainting the trope for a long time people can get equally pissed but at that point the manga will have run long enough to be a profitable success, all that's left to do is to produce an OK ending that most people are content with ... just good enough for readers to pick up the author's next series (you hear me Kobayashi Jin?) . In the end it's more like most manga authors, especially of weekly series, do not intend to write rounded and coherent stories that read equally well from the beginning to the end. All they need is a good hookup in the beginning, some decent devices to drag the middle part as long as they can and, once readers get bored by those devices, a clean surgical cut so they can move to another series. That's how I see it and I'm perfectly fine with it... I guess I just don't have such high expectations with this kind of pop fiction. |

Next week double chapters again? Found out there won't be none next week.
We all know what Yuki answer was gonna be. So the time frame is around 2 weeks (since the break-up), there wasn't much eventful occasions (excluding Mei pad) to sway Yuki train of thought. With Utsumi facial express, I can either say he finally come to terms with either of trying to get back with her or fronting to be friends (utter fail). I'm leaning more toward him trying to rekindle their relationship, basing off his expression so far and how his character is devise so far...

Nope. She used Seiji only after they had become a couple. The first name basis between girl and guy in Japan is usually a very affective and quite more private/"intimate" step (as seen when Ucchi stuttered"Yuki" like he had a speech deficite) even though you encounter it more often in fiction if the girl wants to be overly friend-ish right away from the beginning (and every other male goes "WTF!?" when the male protagonist accepts calling her like this ).

yeah, they're big on that "first-name" basis thing.
so she referred to him still as seiji, even though they already broke up. interesting. can't wait for next chapter

I am glad that Utsumi behaves in this way..,
I hope he has not bought a ring as a gift for example.. would be a mistake by trying to get back together in this moment.., and would be sad to see Yuki reject Utsumi again.... I hope that after 92 chapters, the author decides to make grow the character of Utsumi...i hope this,he decides to approach her, slowly slowly... However...where is Risa??? is already disappeared? bah.... |
