Well, i am glad that they managed to make this scene justice.

While they have had a LOT of trouble with making the slower moments of this arc, the key moments have all been done magnificently.

Such darkness emanating from Gon.
The look in Pitou's eyes was pure fear.
Wtf happened to Gon?!
That appearance got me scared too.
So much power, but all enveloped in hate & darkness.
Did he just grow up like crazy or what?!
It was kinda weird watching him in that form.
Pitou was helpless & way below Gon's power level.
Yup, Gon is now a bigger monster than Killua.
Damn, this episode was epic!!!

I like that in this manga drastic power ups come with a cost,unlike DBZ style power-ups.

Although I'm a bit disappointed not to see Gon fight in his child form,I think at the least he could put up a fight at this point,but if he did that would mean he would be considered stronger than Kite which Togashi probably didn't want to declare yet.

Anyways one of the best episodes yet,IMO.

Amazing episode. Wing told gon to not imitate Kurapika ( vows and limitations):

But he did it anyway and in his limitation was even stronger.
It was so sad Gon sacrified everything to win only one fight.

The killua/Pito/Gon scene was amazing. So much violence.
Poor Pito Rip.

Wow, so Gon literally turns into a man child. Just when you thought the show had mocked everything-- it turns a nice likeable kid into an overgrown beefy hulked up man child who, all of a sudden, wields about as much power as the king himself.

I just don't care at this point.

That power up came first- Getsuga Tenso was done a couple weeks/months after, can't quite remember, though i was a bit pissed at the blatant copy.

well this series is not bleach. power doesn't come easily here, it shouldn't be possible for gon to get that strong in a short time

The idea is that he used his power with the limitation of employing it only to destroy Pitou, and ready to give up his own life. With such a strong pledge, his Nen exploded - and don't forget that it's Reinforcement Nen. Kurapika was able to use it to enhance his healing factor, so it's not impossible that it can be used to literally enhance growth. Basically, Gon made his Nen into a cocktail of steroids and growth hormones , but as all doping does, this comes with a heavy toll on the body.

And I should add just like a lot with Hunter x Hunter, this moment is a deconstruction. In this case, the "Power-up". So not only does it make perfect sense plot wise. It makes perfect sense thematic wise too.

Didn't say it was an asspull (as in it couldn't be achieved). It's that Gon can do it without any training whatsoever. Maybe it's not an asspull, but it sure as hell feels like one. Also, the show has been insufferably schmaltzy for a while now but it definitely cranked it up to the nth power this episode and has reached a point where the overblown drama has become a parody of itself. It's a freaking joke and it's not funny.
