A surprisingly and extremely mediocre episode in quality. I expected something better from J.C. Staff after all the quality stuff they've sent out. At least they got rid of that annoying screen wipe...that's always welcome.
Might get a better rating when I watch it subbed. |

As long as they don't compress the material too much, it's fine with me. There is also room to innovate from the novels. I'd rather prefer for them to go nice and slow, maybe to have new material in the middle, and have a 3rd season based on the rest of the novels (jejejeje, second season just started and I'm talking about a third one)

Agreed! The episode couldn't be bad considering it featured an all night session of S&M play..... even if the S&M part may have been wrongly interpreted by one person due to circumstantial posing. Very good episode. The series picked up from where it left off.. and Kugimiya Rie - the god-given voice for playing those fiesty lolis - takes it up right from the top. Seeing Saito's getting abused/punched/kicked/beaten/bombed did the heart so good considering how much I loathe this character. All in all a good start.
I won't comment on the animation considering the series never had much of a good animation to begin with, but the episode is in no way any worse than the overall animation effort in season 1.

I do indeed like this opening quite a bit over the first season's. One thing I must say though: I didn't even recognize Guiche until the final shot of him with Tabitha, Kirche, and Montmorency. Did he always look that cool? Or am I just totally misinterpreting this? Must be the sword.

I agree that SnS probably does have better overall animation than ZnT, though. JC Staff's animation quality does seem to change depending on the show, so they probably do have different groups working on each show. |
