I never though Nanoha was dense, oblivious but never dense. She struck me as someone who would read a sentence completly miss the point and interpret it as something else because she was more focused on other things besides romance.

Aren't being oblivious and being dense the same thing?

Well, perhaps another way to look at it is that Nanoha may recognise the romantic inclinations, think "This way they're acting... could they be in love with me?" but because she's as humble as she is, she goes "Nah, that can't be it" and thus thinks of some alternative interpretation. If she has the notion of "Fate-chan only cares about me as a friend" firmly stuck in her head it'd be hard for her to think otherwise.

That makes more sense, I thought oblivious was "does not see it" and dense meant "not intelligent/mature/experienced enough to understand it" was I wrong?

"Landing sequence complete. System shutdown in progress." After hearing the engine finally die down, Yuuno secured the systems.

"Alright and that should do it." He had been in a rather good mood after finding out the current rate of exchange for Mercadian silver. As it fell just recently, his estimated spending amount in Mid-Childan credits fell as well. "Time to hit the Mercadian Market!"

"Yay!! I can't wait to try their chicken!" shouted Material-L, freshly awakened from her nap.

"Eh...?" Since when did they want to come?

"The quicker we do this, the faster we can be on our way. I would rather not stay on this dull planet for too long," muttered Material-D as she got out of the chair and stretched her wings a bit.

"Um..."

"Agreed." Material-S was just about to depart the ship when Yuuno quickly noticed her lack of attire aside from his shirt and pulled her back.

"Wait, what are you doing?! Are you going to go out like that?!"

She merely gave him a puzzled look. "Yes. Is there a problem?"

"...... er... actually, I was hoping you could stay behind and watch the ship. Dunno if there are any bandits around!" The Librarian mentally patted himself on the back for coming up with a good reasonable explanation to keep her out of sight. "And you shouldn't move around too much since you're still feeling a little under the weather."

The confusion cleared from the Nanoha replica's face. "I see. But you mentioned something about acquiring clothing for each of us. We should all be present if we are to be fitted properly, correct?"

"Uh... we'll just take your measurements to the tailor and pick an outfit for you!" He nervously turned to the other two replicas. "Can you...?"

"Why would I want to partake in such a menial task? It's more suited for a peon like yourself." And with that, Material-D walked out of the ship.

As for Material-L... "CHICKENCHICKENCHICKENCHICKENCHICKENCHICKEN-" It was all he heard as she bounced out as well, leaving Material-S and Yuuno alone.

"I better take this off if you are to get accurate measurements."

All he could do was gulp nervously as his eyes were once again treated to the naked form of the Nanoha replica.

"Yuu-nii, watch out!"

The Librarian heard Material-L's warning in time just to avoid a white robed cyclist recklessly biking through the crowded market place. "Whoa! That was close!"

"You've been spacing out like this since we left the ship! What's wrong with your head, you peon?!" shouted Material-D.

"Uh..." Best not to answer that question. Especially when his mind kept wandering back to the image of that naked female body that he felt up earlier. At least he got those measurements somehow... after ten minutes of fumbles and gawking.

"I'm gonna zap that guy for being so mean!" Material-L put down the boxes containing the equipment Yuuno needed for his repairs and started preparing a spell when Yuuno quickly shoved a drumstick into her hand from the takeout chicken bag he had bought earlier.

"No zapping, okay?! Please?!"

"Kay!!" Her mood instantly shifted from angry to happy as she munched on the drumstick without a care in the world.

'That was close...' Most of the items from the supply run had been purchased with the last thing to get being casual wear for the three Materials. He put down the grocery bags he had been carrying and reached into his pocket to get the map that had been available for new visitors from the information kiosk. "If this map of the market area is correct, then we should be near the clothing merchant section."

"Yami-chan, where are you going?"

Yuuno looked up to see that Material-D was already examining the merchandise of one stand, run by a young girl with purple hair and golden eyes. "Welcome, welcome! How can I help you today?"

"Hm... what is the finest outfit that you have-"

"Oi, I told you that I don't have a bottomless purse already!" The Hayate replica merely huffed while the Librarian turned to the young girl running the stall and quickly explained his shopping needs. "Uh, I'm just looking for some casual wear and shoes for my three friends."

"Three?"

"I have a third companion feeling a little under the weather so I'm shopping for her as well. I got all the proper measurements..." Yeah, like his brain would ever let him forget the numbers for her bust, waist and hips.

The girl grinned after hearing that. "Alright then! Let Miss Isis work her magic for ya!"

The forsworn Knight idea is a perfect, tragic backstory for Signum. Great job! The conflict of duty here just makes the whole thing so much more sad for an honourable knight like Signum.

This idea basically hit me as soon as I watched the Strikers Signum-Agito unison moment. That was around 2 years ago... it took me all this time to put something together into a manageable comic. If I tried to tell the entire tale, I'd literally die before I finish.

There was an enormous amount of content I simply had to ditch in order to draw this thing. The political situtation leading up to the old unification war goes something like this: (reader beware, I am cheating here by filling in gaps 'beyond the grave')

1. The previous king dies, leaving a young heir. The old generals who served under the previous king have overall jurisdiction over East and West Belka - they are the High Lords of East and West Belka respectively. Together, they help the young king rule. However, this division of power inevitably leads to a struggle for ascendency between the two camps (yes, slightly Hamlet-ish at this point).

2. For a while, East held more power because the High Lord ("East HL" from here on out) was a well respected and capable general who fought to defend Belka's borders. The East was militarily strong - its capital was named the Shield of Belka (Signum's presence as the East HL's champion naturally helped).

3. West HL, however, begins to gain influence over the young king through various political means. He plots against East HL. (we have a villain!)

4. East HL does not believe in such politicking, and despite advice to the contrary, does not attempt to offset the West's influence. However, supporters of the East do not let up and do their own plotting. Soon, the conflict between the East and the West escalates to the point where open civil war appears inevitable.

5. The young king knows that the West HL is using him to destroy the East, but considers things too far gone to salvage and decides to eliminate both East AND West.

6. King issues order to his Knight Signum to execute East HL, and effectively destroys the East camp (after, of course, Signum dispatches her 50,000 former comrades who take up arms against her for her betrayal of East HL).

7. King then seizes control of the East (which West HL had been planning to do for himself), and an accident was then arranged for the West HL shortly after.

8. King proclaims himself Kaiser.

Of course, I only managed to put a very slight hint in the actual comic that perhaps the East HL wasn't the traitor that history claims he was.

Very nice! The image of Signum looking back over her shoulder at her own body was pretty dramatic, and her reasons for turning her back on her liege to support the Kaiser mesh well with the Signum from A's who chose to disobey her master in an attempt to protect that master--someone who, when push comes to shove, will ultimately choose to be "good" rather than "lawful" and yet will hurt all the way over having to make the choice. The omake was just cute, too, and did a good job of defusing the lingering emotional tension, so as a reader I could think "a story from the past" and not "fresh and painful moment."

You know, after reading your interpretation, I begin to think that making East HL an actual traitor would make Signum's actions more congruent with her disobeying Hayate in A's.

Though in Before Dawn (the version in my head lol), Signum still chose to be good rather than lawful because in the end, she was convinced that the king was correct in giving the order. It was Belka's best bet at avoiding a protracted civil war.

And just because I'm such a sucker for tragedy, let's say it was the East HL himself who convinced Signum to execute him Yes, there is actually a complete scene in my demented imagination how this happens...but it just wouldn't fit into the comic without adding so much more background I might as well just write the fic out.

I loved hearing how people interpreted the comic - it gives me new perspective on how things played out :3

There were things making noises.

Their little mewlings were not what had awoken him. The conditions of his slumber included rousing him when the sonic emissions of excavation came within a certain proximity of his resting place, distinct and distinguishable from the tremours of the mud. He had reached out and felt them, found that they were not beings of animated metal but merely fleshlings.

That was good, for he was thirsty.

He detected the emission of photons into his sanctuary. That told him that the meat puppets did not have his own, superbly acute visual acuity. They were making their sounds again, which he recognised as a modified form of the cant of the little scavenger lords who had picked through the bones of old Belka.

"This chamber is saturated with magic," one of the little ones stated as he peered at a small metal box.

"There's something else... wrong about this place," another one said. The little one played a torch's light around the chamber, briefly causing it to fall on him. He heard a sound of puzzlement before the light fell on him again.

"A... A body? A book?"

He smirked to himself. The little ones obviously had no knowledge of his presence. Then again, he doubted that any amount of preparation, any knowledge of his existence could have helped them.

The little ones moved closer, then closer still. "That... That's not possible," one of the fleshlings said. He noted with satisfaction the rising fear in the little one's voice.

"Why? What's wrong?”

"His clothes are in too good condition for how long he must have been down here."

He let the fleshlings play their lights and their scanners over himself. Nothing would be betrayed to their pathetic tools.

"Nothing. The body is cold, alright, and the age seems to be correct. No traps from what we can discern."

One of the little ones stepped ever closer, until it was close enough to reach out to prod him with a stick, and that was when he leapt to his feet and caught hold of the meat puppet's throat.

He was gratified to see the fleshlings stumble back and deeply inhaled the pungent smell of their fear. One of them was calling for help. He let the little one do so, though it would have been easy to eliminate him before he could raise the alarm. He was in need of a workout after his slumber and it would be interesting to see if the scavenger lords had managed to improve on Belka's leftovers.
"Who... wh-what are you?!" The puppet in his grasp managed to say.

"You request an answer?" He asked. "Do you think you deserve an answer? You, who had no inkling of my presence with all your precious trinkets, dare ask me to identify myself? You should be telling me why you deserve to live!"

"I, I, I..." The meatbag stammered and flailed ineffectually in his single-armed grasp.

"P-put him down! We have guards coming!" One of the others said. "T-there's no escape from here!"

He looked at the speaker disdainfully, noting that the weakling was sweating and turning blue. "Such bold statements. Are you so confident? Do you really believe what you say?"

The speaker averted eyes from the force of his gaze. "W-we mapped this place! T-there's no other way into this chamber, and n-no other way out!"

He heard the sound of boots repeatedly contacting the ground and smiled. "I see your hatchetmen are here!"

"Halt!" He saw fleshlings in military uniforms little changed from his last vision of the scavenger lords taking up positions beside the opening into the chamber. "You there, put down Dr. Hindia and surrender yourself! Drs. Cloft, Stalk and Conaghel, get back to the camp! We'll handle this!"

He let the other meatbags run away. There would be time to hunt them down later.

"I said let the doctor go!" The puppet who had spoken insisted again.

“You believe that you are in a position to make demands? How amusing… very well, then.” He dropped the hapless fool…

Then slammed a hand into and through the piece of trash. His hand emerged from the back of the victim, bloody and clutching the Linker Core, before pulling it free of the body. “An underused Linker Core, what a delight. A worked-out core, with its potential realized, is wonderful, but a fresh, little-exercised core has its own appeal too.”

“Wh-wha… target it. Target it. Target IT! SOMEBODY FIRE!”

Light glinted off his bared teeth and screams soon echoed in the chamber.

There was an enormous amount of content I simply had to ditch in order to draw this thing. The political situtation leading up to the old unification war goes something like this: (reader beware, I am cheating here by filling in gaps 'beyond the grave')

1. The previous king dies, leaving a young heir. The old generals who served under the previous king have overall jurisdiction over East and West Belka - they are the High Lords of East and West Belka respectively. Together, they help the young king rule. However, this division of power inevitably leads to a struggle for ascendency between the two camps (yes, slightly Hamlet-ish at this point).

2. For a while, East held more power because the High Lord ("East HL" from here on out) was a well respected and capable general who fought to defend Belka's borders. The East was militarily strong - its capital was named the Shield of Belka (Signum's presence as the East HL's champion naturally helped).

3. West HL, however, begins to gain influence over the young king through various political means. He plots against East HL. (we have a villain!)

4. East HL does not believe in such politicking, and despite advice to the contrary, does not attempt to offset the West's influence. However, supporters of the East do not let up and do their own plotting. Soon, the conflict between the East and the West escalates to the point where open civil war appears inevitable.

5. The young king knows that the West HL is using him to destroy the East, but considers things too far gone to salvage and decides to eliminate both East AND West.

6. King issues order to his Knight Signum to execute East HL, and effectively destroys the East camp (after, of course, Signum dispatches her 50,000 former comrades who take up arms against her for her betrayal of East HL).

7. King then seizes control of the East (which West HL had been planning to do for himself), and an accident was then arranged for the West HL shortly after.

8. King proclaims himself Kaiser.

Of course, I only managed to put a very slight hint in the actual comic that perhaps the East HL wasn't the traitor that history claims he was.

I think that it would be more angsty if the East HL wasn't a traitor . Then it shows that Signum truly did her duty to her King out of duty, not because it was essentially "what's right". In that way, it could be interesting to show that the reason she disobeyed Hayate was due to character growth, that Signum learned that sometimes just following orders isn't good enough?

Love the in-depth background , but yeah, it's nice to know but I'm glad the story didn't focus on it.

There were things making noises.

Their little mewlings were not what had awoken him. The conditions of his slumber included rousing him when the sonic emissions of excavation came within a certain proximity of his resting place, distinct and distinguishable from the tremours of the mud. He had reached out and felt them, found that they were not beings of animated metal but merely fleshlings.

That was good, for he was thirsty.

He detected the emission of photons into his sanctuary. That told him that the meat puppets did not have his own, superbly acute visual acuity. They were making their sounds again, which he recognised as a modified form of the cant of the little scavenger lords who had picked through the bones of old Belka.

"This chamber is saturated with magic," one of the little ones stated as he peered at a small metal box.

"There's something else... wrong about this place," another one said. The little one played a torch's light around the chamber, briefly causing it to fall on him. He heard a sound of puzzlement before the light fell on him again.

"A... A body? A book?"

He smirked to himself. The little ones obviously had no knowledge of his presence. Then again, he doubted that any amount of preparation, any knowledge of his existence could have helped them.

The little ones moved closer, then closer still. "That... That's not possible," one of the fleshlings said. He noted with satisfaction the rising fear in the little one's voice.

"Why? What's wrong?”

"His clothes are in too good condition for how long he must have been down here."

He let the fleshlings play their lights and their scanners over himself. Nothing would be betrayed to their pathetic tools.

"Nothing. The body is cold, alright, and the age seems to be correct. No traps from what we can discern."

One of the little ones stepped ever closer, until it was close enough to reach out to prod him with a stick, and that was when he leapt to his feet and caught hold of the meat puppet's throat.

He was gratified to see the fleshlings stumble back and deeply inhaled the pungent smell of their fear. One of them was calling for help. He let the little one do so, though it would have been easy to eliminate him before he could raise the alarm. He was in need of a workout after his slumber and it would be interesting to see if the scavenger lords had managed to improve on Belka's leftovers.
"Who... wh-what are you?!" The puppet in his grasp managed to say.

"You request an answer?" He asked. "Do you think you deserve an answer? You, who had no inkling of my presence with all your precious trinkets, dare ask me to identify myself? You should be telling me why you deserve to live!"

"I, I, I..." The meatbag stammered and flailed ineffectually in his single-armed grasp.

"P-put him down! We have guards coming!" One of the others said. "T-there's no escape from here!"

He looked at the speaker disdainfully, noting that the weakling was sweating and turning blue. "Such bold statements. Are you so confident? Do you really believe what you say?"

The speaker averted eyes from the force of his gaze. "W-we mapped this place! T-there's no other way into this chamber, and n-no other way out!"

He heard the sound of boots repeatedly contacting the ground and smiled. "I see your hatchetmen are here!"

"Halt!" He saw fleshlings in military uniforms little changed from his last vision of the scavenger lords taking up positions beside the opening into the chamber. "You there, put down Dr. Hindia and surrender yourself! Drs. Cloft, Stalk and Conaghel, get back to the camp! We'll handle this!"

He let the other meatbags run away. There would be time to hunt them down later.

"I said let the doctor go!" The puppet who had spoken insisted again.

“You believe that you are in a position to make demands? How amusing… very well, then.” He dropped the hapless fool…

Then slammed a hand into and through the piece of trash. His hand emerged from the back of the victim, bloody and clutching the Linker Core, before pulling it free of the body. “An underused Linker Core, what a delight. A worked-out core, with its potential realized, is wonderful, but a fresh, little-exercised core has its own appeal too.”

“Wh-wha… target it. Target it. Target IT! SOMEBODY FIRE!”

Light glinted off his bared teeth and screams soon echoed in the chamber.

Not sure if I'm gonna continue with this.

You did an excellent job building up the atmosphere and the feeling of fear. I dunno who this monster is supposed to be, nor do I know where you're going with it, but it was good all the same.

Our beastie is a relic of old Belka. I was trying to get that across by his constant mentions of Belka, with the scavenger lords being successor entities like the Bureau - a deliberate crib from Battletech. If I continue this, I'll make it clearer sometime.

The archaeologists' names are supposed to be references too. Hindia is for Indiana Jones, while Cloft, Stalk and Conaghel are for Lara Croft, Tony Stark and Conagher, the TF2 Engineer.

"Target it" is the infamous "losing it" line from Serenity's Operative.

Sitting back against the chair as he waited for Isis to get done measuring both Material-L and Material-D. Really, he couldn't believe the situation he was in, a weird-looking version of three of his best childhood friends that had to suck on Linker Cores to survive.

'Wait a second...' His eyes narrowed, sucking on Linker Cores to survive... 'That sounds like the corrupted version of Reinforce...' He refused to call her the "Book of Darkness", especially after she sacrificed herself to keep Hayate safe. It had been a long time since he had thought about that incident, even though it did introduce him to the Wolkenritter, Hayate and Reinforce.

Still, after all was said and done, they were good friends with each other, despite how they started. Idly, he began to wonder just what was taking so long, even if he allowed for more time for how hyper Rai was, it was still taking awhile longer than he had thought it would. Maybe Rai was too hyperactive and maybe Yami was being too stubborn and didn’t want to… His thoughts trailed off as Isis pulled back the curtain. “Ta da!” She grinned, looking extremely pleased with herself as she stepped to the side. “Here they are!”

First out was Yami, who was wearing some ankle boots, stockings that went from her feet up her legs and disappeared under the dress, which was blue-green with white trim on the ends. She had a corset of the same color over her body with a white shirt underneath it. He was slightly surprised by the cute little collar around her neck, or was it a choker? He wasn’t sure. On her wrists were red bracelets that hung slightly loose on her and in her hands was a folded up fan. To be honest, Yuuno thought it was a very nice outfit.

“Hmph!” Yami narrowed her eyes at him. “Do you find this outfit distasteful?”

“No! It's... quite nice.” Yuuno was relieved as Yami’s mood seemed to pick right up.

“Yes, I thought that it was appropriate for me, though I wish it were a touch more regal.” She glanced at Isis, who shook her head.

“It would be too expensive, and I’m trying to help him not spend a lot, remember?” Isis was smiling still, it seemed that she was used to this.

Yuuno shook his head slightly and gawked as Rai bounced (in more ways than one. How the hell was she NOT spilling out of her clothes at that moment?!) out of the changing area. “Hey, Yuu-nii!” She grinned, wearing a pair of light purple leather pants and a shirt of the same color that only covered her belly and the bottom half of her breasts, the only reason he knew that was because the jacket she was wearing was left unzipped. Her device was on a silver chain and rested in the valley between her breasts. “I don’t know about the pants, they’re a bit stiff.” Rai pouted as she bounced a bit more, causing more distractions by the movements of her breasts.

“You just need to settle into them.” Isis rolled her eyes as Rai turned around to look at herself in the mirror and nearly fell over laughing as Yuuno went bug-eyed as he saw how tight the pants were on Rai’s shapely rear. Oh, gods, this was priceless, not that she blamed him, there was more than one man and woman stopping to stare at Rai’s rear in those tight pants. “Now then, might I have the measurements for the last one?”

Yuuno nodded and handed Isis a slip of paper. As she looked at it, Isis frowned, before sighing. “Please tell me that you didn’t only get the measurements of her waist, hips and bust.”

“Um… There’s more?” Yuuno was rather confused, he had thought you only needed those measurements.

“I need to know her height, her shoulder width, how long her legs are, her arms, her inseams!” With each word, Isis took a step forward before she was poking him in the chest. “There are a lot of variables that need to be covered before I can just give her clothes.” She then sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. “Sorry, I forgot that you’re a guy.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Normally Yuuno didn’t mind what people thought about him, but that was a pretty bad insult, even to him.

She shook her head. “It’s just that you wouldn’t know the problems that women have with clothes shopping. Look, I’ll make it easy for you.” She smirked as she grabbed some measuring tapes. “Just take me to where she is, and I’ll measure her and get her an outfit.”

“I want chicken!” Rai pouted and crossed her arms under her breasts, pushing them up and letting Yuuno actually catch a glimpse of some shoulders on her shirt, which answered how she wasn’t readjusting it every three seconds. “And I wanna look around!”

“Hmm… It might be a good idea to do some shopping while we wait for Material-S to get some clothes on.” Yami looked around and snapped open the fan with the flick of her wrist before using it to gently move the air around her face. “Come along now, servant.”

Yuuno sighed before grimacing as Isis tugged on his hair, forcing him to bend down slightly so she could speak to his ear directly. “They were both naked after cancelling their barrier jackets, is this… Material S naked as well?”

Yuuno blushed slightly and shook his head as she let go of his hair. “Not entirely. She has a large shirt but that's it.”

Isis shook her head. “It wouldn’t be the first time I helped give someone clothes when they were wearing only a shirt, and it probably won’t be the last time. So, you go shopping with them, I’ll help her.” Isis pushed Yuuno away so that he would chase after the other two Materials before she sighed and grabbed up bundles of various clothes and blinked. “Ah, dammit! Hey, wait!” She yelled at Yuuno, who was a bit further away and unable to hear her which caused her to have to run after him. “I forgot to ask! Where is she?!”

It was a couple hours later, after dropping Isis, with all those clothes, and their items, off at the ship and getting all the stuff that they needed, found Yuuno, Yami and Rai walking back to the ship. “Hey, Rai?”

“What, Yuu-nii?” She asked as she walked backwards in front of him.

“Just where did you go?” He asked, referring to when she suddenly disappeared on him. Thankfully, when he found her, it didn’t seem like she had gotten into any trouble.

She shrugged at the question. “There was this really neat old shop and I wanted to see what was inside and there were lots of neat books.”

“You like reading?” Maybe he could get her to calm down if he gave her a bunch of books.

“THERE SHE IS!” An angry male voice spoke up before Rai could speak and Yuuno, Rai and Yami found themselves surrounded by several angry men, all of them glaring and holding various weapons and pointing them at the three. “Now, missy, you might be a sight from the gods for our eyes, but stealing is just wrong!”

Rai pouted as Yuuno looked at her. “What did you do?”

“Those meanies said that they stole it first.”

“I told you! We acquired it completely legally from some ship wreckage!” The first man yelled at her.

“But then you said that you may or may not have made the ship blow up on purpose.” Rai grinned at him. “Besides, you said that you couldn’t use it either and… OOOH! Shiny!” Rai seemed to bounce over one of the men, knocking him down as she picked up a coin that was on the ground. “Yuu-nii! Can I keep it?”

“That’s it, get'em!” The leader yelled and his men attacked Yami and Yuuno, only to crash into Yuuno’s barriers before he grabbed Yami and ran to Rai, grabbing her arm, he ran faster.

“Hey! You brute!”

“I’d rather not injure them if I could help it.” Plus Yuuno didn’t really care to fight, if it was Nanoha, she would just blast the whole lot of them.

“Hmph! Fine!” Yami glanced back and raised an eyebrow. “They are persistent, I’ll give them that.” After a few more moments of running, Yami managed to get her arm free of Yuuno’s grasp and floated into the air. “We can move faster flying.”

“Oooh! Is it a race?” Rai grinned as she took off like a shot towards the ship. “See you there!”

Yuuno shook his head, he didn’t fly, simply because he had been too used to not flying in the various civilized worlds, since there were usually laws in place to stop people from flying all over the place, but still, now would be a good time to get the hell out of there.

“Dammit!” The men below yelled before their leader smacked one of them.

“Stop gawking and chase after them!”

Isis sighed as she finally got Seikou, that was a rather nice name in her opinion, into her outfit. The short-haired woman was now wearing a heavily modified red cheongsam which had no sleeves and had two side slits running along the long dress which gave room for her legs. There were two openings in the upper part of the red cheongsam, one which was just above her breasts to show off a little cleavage and the other just below to expose only a small area around her navel. For footwear, the older woman chose to go with the brown boots which reached up to just below her knees which she found comfortable along with a pair of red fingerless gloves for her only accessory. "Hm... what do you think?"

"This is most acceptable. Thank you," replied Seikou softly.

"Don't mention-" Isis paused when she heard the commotion outside. The minute she reached the ship's door to check out what was happening, Material-L crashed into her. “Um… Normally I’d be flattered that someone decided to tackle me, but what’s with the flying?” Isis blinked as Yami and finally Yuuno flew into the ship, only to stop and stare, bug-eyed, his jaw going slack, as he saw Seikou, who blushed slightly.

“What is going on?” Seikou, still blushing, asked as Yami ran for the controls of the ship.

“It seems that Material-L was an idiot and stole something and now we’ve got idiots after us.”

“Why didn’t you just blow them up?” Seikou asked, knowing it was that simple to get away from someone, after all, if they were out cold or dead they couldn‘t chase you.

Yami glared at Yuuno. “I would have, but someone decided that it would be a good idea to run.” She quickly resumed fanning herself to cool herself down from the previous chase.

“When there aren’t civilians around who will get hurt if we start a fight, I’ll let you blow them up, okay?!” Yuuno grumbled, he wasn’t used to being chased down like a dog. “Anyway, we should get out of here.”

“Hey, wait a sec…AHHH!” Isis yelled as the ship suddenly shot up and took off. “My shop's still back there!” She pouted as Yuuno looked at her, in surprise. “I was waiting for you to pay me, now you kidnapped me.”

“Um… Sorry?” He chuckled nervously as the former shopkeeper started looking worried.

"Now what am I going to do?"

"If you're interested, you can take on the position of being my Royal Tailor," said Material-D without missing a beat, not even noticing the simultaneous looks from the others and Yuuno's subtle groan.

"Aren't you getting ahead of yourself?"

Yami glared at Yuuno. “I would have, but someone decided that it would be a good idea to run.” She quickly resumed fanning herself to cool herself down from the previous chase.

“When there aren’t civilians around who will get hurt if we start a fight, I’ll let you blow them up, okay?!” Yuuno grumbled, he wasn’t used to being chased down like a dog. “Anyway, we should get out of here.”

“Hey, wait a sec…AHHH!” Isis yelled as the ship suddenly shot up and took off. “My shop's still back there!” She pouted as Yuuno looked at her, in surprise. “I was waiting for you to pay me, now you kidnapped me.”

“Um… Sorry?” He chuckled nervously as the former shopkeeper started looking worried.

"Now what am I going to do?"

"If you're interested, you can take on the position of being my Royal Tailor," said Material-D without missing a beat, not even noticing the simultaneous looks from the others and Yuuno's subtle groan.

"Aren't you getting ahead of yourself?"

Rai stole something and we never got to see what it was? And a vessel may have been attacked for it? I'm ready to bet this was important and it's going to set even more people searching for them.

And now Isis is on the ride too. And with Touma stopped from leaving earlier... I'm starting to wonder if the fic is subtly hijacking Force somewhat.

Sitting back against the chair as he waited for Isis to get done measuring both Material-L and Material-D. Really, he couldn't believe the situation he was in, a weird-looking version of three of his best childhood friends that had to suck on Linker Cores to survive.

'Wait a second...' His eyes narrowed, sucking on Linker Cores to survive... 'That sounds like the corrupted version of Reinforce...' He refused to call her the "Book of Darkness", especially after she sacrificed herself to keep Hayate safe. It had been a long time since he had thought about that incident, even though it did introduce him to the Wolkenritter, Hayate and Reinforce.

Still, after all was said and done, they were good friends with each other, despite how they started. Idly, he began to wonder just what was taking so long, even if he allowed for more time for how hyper Rai was, it was still taking awhile longer than he had thought it would. Maybe Rai was too hyperactive and maybe Yami was being too stubborn and didn’t want to… His thoughts trailed off as Isis pulled back the curtain. “Ta da!” She grinned, looking extremely pleased with herself as she stepped to the side. “Here they are!”

First out was Yami, who was wearing some ankle boots, stockings that went from her feet up her legs and disappeared under the dress, which was blue-green with white trim on the ends. She had a corset of the same color over her body with a white shirt underneath it. He was slightly surprised by the cute little collar around her neck, or was it a choker? He wasn’t sure. On her wrists were red bracelets that hung slightly loose on her and in her hands was a folded up fan. To be honest, Yuuno thought it was a very nice outfit.

“Hmph!” Yami narrowed her eyes at him. “Do you find this outfit distasteful?”

“No! It's... quite nice.” Yuuno was relieved as Yami’s mood seemed to pick right up.

“Yes, I thought that it was appropriate for me, though I wish it were a touch more regal.” She glanced at Isis, who shook her head.

“It would be too expensive, and I’m trying to help him not spend a lot, remember?” Isis was smiling still, it seemed that she was used to this.

Yuuno shook his head slightly and gawked as Rai bounced (in more ways than one. How the hell was she NOT spilling out of her clothes at that moment?!) out of the changing area. “Hey, Yuu-nii!” She grinned, wearing a pair of light purple leather pants and a shirt of the same color that only covered her belly and the bottom half of her breasts, the only reason he knew that was because the jacket she was wearing was left unzipped. Her device was on a silver chain and rested in the valley between her breasts. “I don’t know about the pants, they’re a bit stiff.” Rai pouted as she bounced a bit more, causing more distractions by the movements of her breasts.

“You just need to settle into them.” Isis rolled her eyes as Rai turned around to look at herself in the mirror and nearly fell over laughing as Yuuno went bug-eyed as he saw how tight the pants were on Rai’s shapely rear. Oh, gods, this was priceless, not that she blamed him, there was more than one man and woman stopping to stare at Rai’s rear in those tight pants. “Now then, might I have the measurements for the last one?”

Yuuno nodded and handed Isis a slip of paper. As she looked at it, Isis frowned, before sighing. “Please tell me that you didn’t only get the measurements of her waist, hips and bust.”

“Um… There’s more?” Yuuno was rather confused, he had thought you only needed those measurements.

“I need to know her height, her shoulder width, how long her legs are, her arms, her inseams!” With each word, Isis took a step forward before she was poking him in the chest. “There are a lot of variables that need to be covered before I can just give her clothes.” She then sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. “Sorry, I forgot that you’re a guy.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Normally Yuuno didn’t mind what people thought about him, but that was a pretty bad insult, even to him.

She shook her head. “It’s just that you wouldn’t know the problems that women have with clothes shopping. Look, I’ll make it easy for you.” She smirked as she grabbed some measuring tapes. “Just take me to where she is, and I’ll measure her and get her an outfit.”

“I want chicken!” Rai pouted and crossed her arms under her breasts, pushing them up and letting Yuuno actually catch a glimpse of some shoulders on her shirt, which answered how she wasn’t readjusting it every three seconds. “And I wanna look around!”

“Hmm… It might be a good idea to do some shopping while we wait for Material-S to get some clothes on.” Yami looked around and snapped open the fan with the flick of her wrist before using it to gently move the air around her face. “Come along now, servant.”

Yuuno sighed before grimacing as Isis tugged on his hair, forcing him to bend down slightly so she could speak to his ear directly. “They were both naked after cancelling their barrier jackets, is this… Material S naked as well?”

Yuuno blushed slightly and shook his head as she let go of his hair. “Not entirely. She has a large shirt but that's it.”

Isis shook her head. “It wouldn’t be the first time I helped give someone clothes when they were wearing only a shirt, and it probably won’t be the last time. So, you go shopping with them, I’ll help her.” Isis pushed Yuuno away so that he would chase after the other two Materials before she sighed and grabbed up bundles of various clothes and blinked. “Ah, dammit! Hey, wait!” She yelled at Yuuno, who was a bit further away and unable to hear her which caused her to have to run after him. “I forgot to ask! Where is she?!”

It was a couple hours later, after dropping Isis, with all those clothes, and their items, off at the ship and getting all the stuff that they needed, found Yuuno, Yami and Rai walking back to the ship. “Hey, Rai?”

“What, Yuu-nii?” She asked as she walked backwards in front of him.

“Just where did you go?” He asked, referring to when she suddenly disappeared on him. Thankfully, when he found her, it didn’t seem like she had gotten into any trouble.

She shrugged at the question. “There was this really neat old shop and I wanted to see what was inside and there were lots of neat books.”

“You like reading?” Maybe he could get her to calm down if he gave her a bunch of books.

“THERE SHE IS!” An angry male voice spoke up before Rai could speak and Yuuno, Rai and Yami found themselves surrounded by several angry men, all of them glaring and holding various weapons and pointing them at the three. “Now, missy, you might be a sight from the gods for our eyes, but stealing is just wrong!”

Rai pouted as Yuuno looked at her. “What did you do?”

“Those meanies said that they stole it first.”

“I told you! We acquired it completely legally from some ship wreckage!” The first man yelled at her.

“But then you said that you may or may not have made the ship blow up on purpose.” Rai grinned at him. “Besides, you said that you couldn’t use it either and… OOOH! Shiny!” Rai seemed to bounce over one of the men, knocking him down as she picked up a coin that was on the ground. “Yuu-nii! Can I keep it?”

“That’s it, get'em!” The leader yelled and his men attacked Yami and Yuuno, only to crash into Yuuno’s barriers before he grabbed Yami and ran to Rai, grabbing her arm, he ran faster.

“Hey! You brute!”

“I’d rather not injure them if I could help it.” Plus Yuuno didn’t really care to fight, if it was Nanoha, she would just blast the whole lot of them.

“Hmph! Fine!” Yami glanced back and raised an eyebrow. “They are persistent, I’ll give them that.” After a few more moments of running, Yami managed to get her arm free of Yuuno’s grasp and floated into the air. “We can move faster flying.”

“Oooh! Is it a race?” Rai grinned as she took off like a shot towards the ship. “See you there!”

Yuuno shook his head, he didn’t fly, simply because he had been too used to not flying in the various civilized worlds, since there were usually laws in place to stop people from flying all over the place, but still, now would be a good time to get the hell out of there.

“Dammit!” The men below yelled before their leader smacked one of them.

“Stop gawking and chase after them!”

Isis sighed as she finally got Seikou, that was a rather nice name in her opinion, into her outfit. The short-haired woman was now wearing a heavily modified red cheongsam which had no sleeves and had two side slits running along the long dress which gave room for her legs. There were two openings in the upper part of the red cheongsam, one which was just above her breasts to show off a little cleavage and the other just below to expose only a small area around her navel. For footwear, the older woman chose to go with the brown boots which reached up to just below her knees which she found comfortable along with a pair of red fingerless gloves for her only accessory. "Hm... what do you think?"

"This is most acceptable. Thank you," replied Seikou softly.

"Don't mention-" Isis paused when she heard the commotion outside. The minute she reached the ship's door to check out what was happening, Material-L crashed into her. “Um… Normally I’d be flattered that someone decided to tackle me, but what’s with the flying?” Isis blinked as Yami and finally Yuuno flew into the ship, only to stop and stare, bug-eyed, his jaw going slack, as he saw Seikou, who blushed slightly.

“What is going on?” Seikou, still blushing, asked as Yami ran for the controls of the ship.

“It seems that Material-L was an idiot and stole something and now we’ve got idiots after us.”

“Why didn’t you just blow them up?” Seikou asked, knowing it was that simple to get away from someone, after all, if they were out cold or dead they couldn‘t chase you.

Remembering what was Forgotten

Nanoha has a bit of a problem.

Just a teeny one.

The young Ace of Aces knew about it for the longest time but had told herself that it wouldn't be a problem later on.

How very wrong she was.

As Nanoha was scrambling up and down the stairs at her home in Uminari, Miyuki took a bite from an apple and grinned, clearly amused by her little sister's predicament. She was sitting quite comfortably on the sofa and made no attempt to help her sister up as she fell countless times on her way to the bathroom. Of course, Miyuki knew that near Nanoha's bedroom there was another bathroom but decided to keep her mouth shut, instead deciding to be the bad one for once and watch Nanoha's anxious antics.

“WhatamIgoingtodo!?” screamed Nanoha, waving her arms in frustration. “Ishouldhaveseenthiscoming!”

She then proceeded to go once again to the bathroom to check on her hair, not that it will do her much good. Wearing nothing but a fluffy pink towel to cover herself, she scrambled up the stairs and this time, slammed herself shut in the her room.

While it was true that Nanoha is a calm and gentle person, there are times that she succumbs to her raging hormones. In other words, she transforms into a troubled 15 year-old Middle School girl with a problem on her hands: she doesn't have a date to the dance.

Miyuki chuckled.

Even though she loves to see her baby sister act her age, she can't help but allow her “big sister” side of herself to take over.

After finishing up her snack, she stood up and headed towards Nanoha's bedroom. Knocking three times, Miyuki asked, “Hey, Nanoha? Can I come in?”

When no reply came, Miyuki excused herself and entered Nanoha's room. What she saw made her burst into laughter. Nanoha's entire room was covered in clothes, from neon colored panties to dresses and skirts.

“Nanoha! What the hell happened here?!” breathed Miyuki, looking around. "It's like World War III was fought in here!”

Nanoha only groaned, curling up in a fetal position on her bed.

“I have no date and to make matters worse, I can't find anything to wear even if I did have one...”

She trailed off in an incoherent mumble. Miyuki shook her head and sat next to Nanoha at the edge of the bed.

“Don't say that, sis. I'm sure we can fix all that.”

“How?”

“Uh, well. Let's see...”

After giving it much thought, Miyuki finally spoke.

“Well, are there any boys in school that you like?”

“No.”

“Hm...” Muyuki scratched her chin. “How about where you work?”

Nanoha shook her head.

“So that's a no, too,...” sighed Miyuki, rubbing her eyes. “Okay... how about... Fate-chan?”

In an instant, Nanoha's sat up, giving her sister an incredulous look.

“Sis... I'm not gay...”

Miyuki laughed it off.

“Could have fooled me.”

Nanoha only stared.

“You may not be gay Nanoha but I'm sure Fate-chan is gay enough for both of you,” laughed Miyuki, thumping Nanoha's back in a playful manner.

Nanoha on the other hand was not pleased.

“Fate-chan is not just a friend, she's also like a sister to me, Miyuki. Just like you are to me.”

Miyuki was taken aback by that response. The sincerity in Nanoha's azure eyes were so piercing that Miyuki knew she had crossed a line. The friendship between Nanoha and Fate transcended far beyond “normal” but love in the context that Miyuki was aiming at was far from the truth. Fate was Nanoha's other half and Nanoha was Fate's other half and it will never become something more than that.

For the first time in her life, Miyuki felt incredibly stupid. Groaning inwardly, she said, “I never knew. I'm sorry, Nanoha. I should have never assumed you two were-”

Nanoha had cut her off with a smile.

“Don't worry about it, Sis. A lot of people mistakenly think that, too. Honestly, don't worry about it.”

Miyuki smiled and hugged her sister. When they pulled apart, Nanoha asked, “Are you still going to help me?”

“You bet!” replied Miyuki, standing up. “So, there are no boys in school you like, not even at work and Fate-chan is most definitely out of the question...”

Silence soon engulfed, both lost in their own thoughts. They were like that for awhile until a thought struck Miyuki so hard that she felt relieved and ashamed. After coughing to catch Nanoha's attention, she asked tentatively, “Are you sure there is not a guy you can think of that you would take to the dance?”

Nanoha frowned slightly in thought but after a minute, shook her head.

Miyuki stared at her sister sadly. She sat beside Nanoha and took one of her hands. After giving it a gentle squeeze, she said, “I know one guy we missed.”

Nanoha blinked.

“Who?”

“Think, Nanoha. Think...”

“You can continue saying that but I still-”

“Let me put it this way,” interrupted Miyuki. “If it weren't for him, the bond that you share with Fate-chan would never have happened. If it weren't for him, you wouldn't have the job you love so much and if it weren't for him, the people you had saved with your magic would all be dead.”

Nanoha raised an eyebrow.

“Sis, I still don't-”

And then...it hit her.

Yuuno...

Without even realizing it, Nanoha burst into tears, allowing her sister to envelope her in a hug.

“How could I have missed him?!” sobbed Nanoha. “He gave me the life I love! He gave me Raising Heart! He gave me the power to save lives! Fate-chan would be dead if it weren't for him!”

“Silly girl,” soothed Miyuki. “That's what I said, didn't I? Well...except for the Raising Heart part.”

When Nanoha had calmed down somewhat, Miyuki made her look up at her, wiping away the tears as she did.

“Listen to me, Nanoha. I have the perfect dress for you to go to the dance. Wait here.”

With that said, she stood and walked out of the room but not before saying, “You know what to do, little Sis.”

Miyuki gave Nanoha a wink and left.

After searching around her messy room, Nanoha found her cellphone and as soon as she dialed the number, she blushed.

“Nanoha?” came Yuuno's surprised voice.

“Uh, Yuuno? Nyahaha...Um...I was wondering if you would like to...”

Relatively mixed feelings on this, to be honest. On one hand it's nice to see a Yuunoha fic in the works, and even nicer to focus on Nanoha as a regular fifteen-year-old girl and not as the White Devil of the TSAB, but on the other hand I have to admit I'm a little put off by how emotional she was about realizing she could ask Yuuno. I don't know if someone like Nanoha would make that kind of declaration so soon about someone as a potential love interest.

Overall, though, I like it, even if I'm a little reserved on Nanoha's characterization. Will there be more?
