So when should episode 23 to the end start to air on the TV broadcast? I believe somebody was saying they paired together a few episode broadcasts, so it might be earlier?

Episode 23 should be aired on September 8th.

The paired episodes 18 and 19 but then skipped a week.

They're definitely pushing YamamotoxShinohara now. Ugh......they keep reminding me how sick they made me feel the way they totally wasted Yamamoto's crush on Kodai..............

Mmmm, the BGM playing during the Yamato's invasion of the Gamilas capital is probably the weakest Yamato 2199 BGM by far, and the first one I actually dislike.

So once again Yuki is ripped away from Kodai's reach..........I hate the Damsel in Distress shtick enough when they don't repeatedly rip the damsel away from the hero again and again and again.

Looks like Desslar is really burning a bunch of his bridges with his staff. I can't tell if they're going to make him out to be the anti-hero he was in the original continuity, or if they're setting him up to be a douchebag like at the end of the original series.

I have to say, the series has actually been on a downgrade in recent episodes with the abuse of the overused Damsel in Distress, the major rushing at the beginning of episode 22, the waste of Yamamoto's crush, etc.

One Meltoria-Class Battle Cruiser (the one with the long-barelled guns), one Kelkapia-Class High Speed Battle Cruiser (the one with the four "eyes") and two Destoria-Class Cruisers. EDIT: By the way.... Gimleh send five ships after the Yamato. But only four engage the Yamato, and only three are destroyed.

This story has been great so far, but I am still wondering the big question.

Given that there has been plenty of build up in many parts of the show, this would kind of come out of left field since it was never really hinted, but Is Mamoru still alive?

In the original Mamoru was still alive. He and Starsha also had a daughter Sasha. It's possible he could still be alive in this remake since his corpse was never found in the Yukikaze though that maybe just red herring. We'll have to wait until the Yamato reaches Iscandar.

Speaking of overused damsel in distress, so is the term, but I agree the whole Yamamoto x Kodai thing was completely out of place with what it seems no purpose whatsoever and this whole running after Yuki affair is getting somewhat tedious.

One thing concerns me.

in the tower was the younger Talan. In all later series except the second film, it was the younger, thicker mustached, Talan that was always by Dessler's side. One assumes that he won't be killed by Yamato (or Dessler) now. But hoW will he live? Will Celesteria live? Her world just kind of turned on her when Dessler left. Yuki is still on Dessler's ship, right?

I wonder if she is on Dessler's ship? The ship was at the center of the tower when Yamato hit. Looks like everyone else in the tower lost their footing, but his ship was dead center of the tower with probably no other contact to the tower than probably the pad it launched from. She might still be on Gamilas. The other side to that, is she just left his control room, and if that room is on his ship, well then yea she is probably still with him.

I might have missed the point where they said its a ship though.

Yes she's on the ship, that's why I said she was ripped out of Kodai's reach yet again. She said "We're accelerating" as the ship took off. Naturally she could only feel that if she was on the ship. Plus, Yurisha said "I can feel Yuki. She's there", while looking up towards the ship.

I doubt it's a weapon pointed at Iscandar. I'm not sure why you'd think he'd want to destroy the planet.

Yuki is on the Deusler II. This is confirmed by Yurisha when she says: "I feel Yuki is on that ship!" The ship also has it's altificial gravity systems active, as it's sitting in a vertical position on the tower, yet everyone walks as if it was horizontal. It was still affected by the impact but to a minor extent.

My guess is they'll evacuate the tower, at least Ghader will. They're located above the section where the Yamato impacted so, when the Yamato fires the WMG at the falling Block 633, it's pretty much a sure thing most of the tower will be taken out by the blast. Velte will probably go down with New Barelas. The one thing i'm missing is, Velte is the one we've seen hanging with Dietz and therefore would be leaning more to the separatist side while Ghader has been more loyal to Desler. This would be in line with his future role as Desler's right hand man. But would you remain loyal to a guy that not only ditches you at the mercy of the enemy and drops a city block on you?! The only motivation i see for Ghader to join with Desler is some need to avenge his brother's death. This would make Ghader a very different character from the one we know. Of course this is pure speculation. Come on September, give us those episodes.

Episode 20 aired today. Fight for Liberty is back as the opening song but the visuals have been altered, using scenes from the episode itself. Length has been reduced to 24:15, from the original 27:15. Actual run time on that (discounting Op and ED) was 23:40 while the TV Broadcast has 22:45 (the episode has no ED sequence ... well it does but we'll get to that). So... how did they make it?
Aside a few tiny cuts here and there, the bigger ones are:

1 - Cosmo Falcons engaging Ghetto's squadron;
2 - Part of Yamamoto's attack on Berger's squad;
3 - Nanbu reporting the drill missile activation;
4 - WMG Room tech watching as the drill breaks through the chamber;

But the worse part in this broadcast... brace yourselves...

The "A Dictator's Anguish" track which is over the last few minutes of the normal episode, here plays as Domel prepares the self destruct. It is replaced in the final 1:30 minutes by the end song as the credits for the episode roll over these scenes. Yes! THEY ROLL CREDITS OVER DOMEL'S SACRIFICE! DOMEL BLOWS HIMSELF UP AT THE SOUND OF A POP BALAD!!!

I'm starting to think whoever is in charge of the TV broadcast is the exact opposite of the people who are making the show. Someone who really hates Yamato. The new opening stunt was bad enough... this, ruining a key scene of the saga?! WTF?! I understand the cuts to make the episode fit the air time but using the end song over that scene is nothing short of criminal.

I wonder how the BBC does it with long episodes of Dr. Who.
