It seems like a very common thing for mangaka to start out doing hentai and then eventually start making more mainstream works, usually starting slow and tentative with material that's still close to hentai. The fact that he's gotten a TV show suggests this guy might have the necessary success to fully leave the 18+ realm. I'd still like him better if he didn't have such a thing for absurdly massive breasts though...
I'd forgotten about Takeru's connection. If, as I said, Himegami is what remains of the great Orochi, or a part of it, then what does that say of Takeru? She connected him with her elder brother, so I see three real possibilities: 1) Orochi was split into multiple bodies, and thus Takeru and Himegami are parts of a whole. 2) There wasn't just one Orochi, and thus both are incarnations of sibling snakes. 3) The series draws a few alterations to ancient myths, and Takeru is a reincarnation of Susa-no-Ou, the heroic man-god who slew Orochi (and if so, within this series, Orochi's brother(bit of creative license with the myth)). |

So now I'm confused.....I could have sworn that Himegami liked Takeru...but its as if she doesn't in this episode. And yea, this season was ok, but it didn't really GRAB me like other shows, its like nothing has really happened all season.

Well, Himegami is far different from the other Maken users in that, if my memory serves me, she really doesn't have a Maken that we've seen, but she uses vast amounts of Element for her power(s) and...other 'things'.
And Himegami isn't really interested in Takeru romantically, at least she acts/claims as such. She and Takeru have a connection that will never go away due to their 'relative' power, but she remains aloof because of the other girls. That kiss, however, begs to have her current thoughts about Takeru's true worth to her re-evaluated. Edit: "Kami-o! Why art thou such a jerk!?" "WHAT WAS THAT!?" "Ka-Kami-sama...?" Made my day

Maken-ki 11 - Very Yes
The setup for the finale came pretty abruptly, but this episode certainly didn't let up on the fanservice. And Takeru finally got a Maken he can understand and control. That's a good step forward. So many scenes during the maid cafe antics stand out, with my favorites being Kodama's odd spelling on the rice, and the "milk" scene. Looking forward to what the finale brings, to see if it can tie everything together well enough. |

Maken-ki 12 - Colored Pink
That finale felt like it came a bit out of left field, but if last week embodied the fanservice, this week embodied the fighting. Overall, the series was entertaining, and I'm okay with that. The character designs did stand out in the season, and the fanservice, while constant, was mostly pretty tasteful. Not a bad watch. |

Final Episode and series review
Definitely the best episode, love it when the harem MC gets some kind of huge powr up to make him less weak, love it even better when they get a uncontrollable berserk type power...makes the dynamic of trying to save him pretty interesting. The final episodes were good, it just took to long to finally get the show moving. Would look forward to a season 2 if it appears. 7/10

I just watched the last episode I must say, I was disappointed. The anime felt rushed and I didn't like the way they ended it. I can see how the creators left room for a second season, but regardless, that ending didn't motivate me to watch an upcoming season. The anime didn't have a strong plot and in terms of character development, almost all of them were the same as they were from the first episode. Sure, the fanservice was great, but w/o a strong plot, the anime fell short. I'm not sure if I'll watch another season if there is one...
