.... Wait, will this be the first time in over 9 years that a Nanoha TV anime will be made that isn't based on a manga? Or is this just an extension of the Vivid anime?

Though, shouldn't this be in the Nanoha subforum?

Please show none of the old cast. Well, at least, don't make them recurring.

Actually, the cast list on the site page shows the Vivid cast to be present, including Vivio and Einhart. There is a new character called Reventon as the main character it looks like though, continuing on the cars naming theme.

Also, this will be a SEVEN ARCS production instead of A-1 as with the Vivid anime, guess they're taking back the reigns of their own franchise huh.

Edit: Also, the full title of the anime itself doesn't have "Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha" on it, which of course seems overdue since the series hasn't been about Nanoha herself for a while.

I'm honestly a bit disappointed by this announcement, because it likely means that this is well and truly dead.

Vivid is fine, but I would have preferred another Nanoha movie over more Vivid anime.

So this is pretty much spinoff of a spinoff (vivid) of a spinoff (nanoha) of a series (triangle heart)

It's magical.

We need to get deeper...

So I've actually removed "Nanoha" from the thread title because it's actually pretty noteworthy (as others have pointed out) that the franchise is not given the Nanoha name. There's been some pretty major fallout in the production committee that seems to have resulted in this fracturing. It looks like King Records is still involved in this one, but they seem to be back in the drivers seat along with Seven Arcs. To this point it doesn't look like Aniplex is involved (we'll see). Of course, Yukari Tamura is not mentioned at all, as she's no longer with King Records (and I think most people suspect that's part of this whole thing in the first place, and why ViVid didn't have any BD release).

Anyway, so yeah -- the franchise has split-off again.

(I honestly don't know what this means we should do about putting this in the Nanoha forum, but technically speaking this is not Nanoha... even though it clearly is...)

Well, Vivid by A-1 was a dissapointment on the most part so no wonder 7Arcs took it back.

So I am guessing this will be a sequel to Vivid, and that will allow them to avoid whatever messy stuff has happened with Yukarin's contracts.

Yeah, that's basically what I'm taking from it as well. Although it may also be a reboot of sorts to allow them to create a fresh slate and rewrite some of the backstory -- we'll see. (Most notably, though, Vivio keeps the Takamachi last name, so they're not going to write Nanoha out of the backstory at least, even if she doesn't make a voiced appearance.)

Wait what happened? I missed that entirely. ...If that's too off topic someone feel free to PM the details to me.

She retired. From King Records.

So no wonder there is no Nanoha on the title.

Basically, she quit her ties with King Records in a kind of visible/ugly way, and the timing of it all and the problems with the ViVid BD release (i.e. the complete lack there of) suggest that complications related to this severing are what killed that release (and likely the planned third movie). This new season does not list Nanoha's character or voice actor in the cast at all, and removed Nanoha from the name entirely, so basically it looks like this is the road forward for the franchise that leaves her behind.

(She now works as part of I'm Enterprise and does still do new anime work, obviously, so she's not out of the industry, just had a rather big breakup with her former agency.)

...I don't... Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha was the first place I really discovered Yukari Tamura. I found her voice to be very unique and appealing, and from that she's become one of my favorite voice actors. The idea of the franchise existing in any form without her... feels like the ground has fallen out from underneath me.

I don't know how to process this.

If they kill off Nanoha's character just to do more Vivid anime...

I definitely thank you for the information, but I'm getting a very bad feeling about all of this...

Well, this may be like ViVid S2 at least in spirit, but it may also be an alternate reality or reboot. We'll have to wait and see. But yeah, Force seems on indefinite hold, and I wouldn't expect Yukari Tamura to be involved at all.

I guess that's one possibility, though seems rather cruel. Another possibility is to just write her out by saying that she's off deep under-cover on some secret mission and Vivio can't contact her or something... Or I guess basically they could just not address it at all, and leave it to be a sort of secret history that people who know the franchise know but never gets brought up in the show at all. (There are other characters in the show whose parents never really get brought up either, so it's not that unlikely, but it would change the tone a fair bit.)

But yeah, given the presumed choice of doing this or letting the franchise just die entirely, it doesn't surprise me that they went this route.

Another vivid anime huh? I wonder if force will get anime someday, for at least original route for Force would be good.

It's not entirely A-1 mistake tbh, Vivid manga was suck and they based the adaptation from the manga.
I am glad they finally take original route for vivid, now i can take serious to watch Vivio story.

Also regarding no old cast list....yeah that bad, starting from Striker until Vivid and Force it seem Tsuzuki want to dethrone Nanoha from franchise MC for some reason.

Ew, it's like Vivid was a huge mistake. And I meant the technical aspects handled by A-1, the manga is already so-so in my book the anime just exposed its flaws more.
