Yay! A discussion thread!
It was a good episode, Greedling was great and I liked the music placement... I think the cliffhanger might have worked better following the manga's way (Riza's throat getting slit, Roy yelling), but this isn't bad either. I can't wait till next week's episode - it's going to be painful to watch, I hope it's pulled off nicely

One of the best placements of the Battle Scherzo Music so far.

I think where they ended it was nice. It's certainly a clifffhanger on its own. And the additional Olivier goodness was okay as well. I'm always happy to see more of Olivier, and the additional parts made me realize that there's a commonality in that scene between her and Sieg, in that they've both just "lost" someone close to them. I am starting to wonder how they're going to fit the rest of the story in the rest of the anime time they have left, as they seem to keep adding a little bit here and there, but they seem to be keeping a headly clip (well into chapter 101 with this episode), and a lot of the last several chapters both heavily focus on the "final five" (possibly explaining why the extras over the last few episodes are focused on secondary characters), and are quite fast-paced, so it should work out well.

Oh, and Greedlin was a thing of horrific beauty in this one... ^_^

Greedling's rampage felt more vicious and intense in the manga. Also Ling's crying expressions were more... expressive. But oh well.

Other than that, very enjoyable episode with a cute and creative cliffhanger.

Best scene was Buccanear's death though. Pretty poignant, felt it more than in the manga.

I thought that the anime made up for Greedling with Miyano Mamoru, his acting was brilliant in this episode It sounded very nicely intense and desperate, it made the scene come alive.

Just wondering, what do you mean by a 'cute' cliffhanger?

It also felt that Greed also held great respect for old man Fu. In the manga, you can't tell whether it was Ling or Greed speaking. However, in the anime you can easily tell it is Greed's voice that sound concern for Fu.

really? cause ling would never refer to Fuu as "the old man/geezer" That's how Greed refers to Fuu, so I knew it was him (I assume you're talking about when Lan Fan is holding onto his arm on the ledge)

Love this episode. Greed shows everyone what the Ultimate Shield is capable of. As he said, Edward Elric was a bad match for him. But against anyone who isn't an alchemist that figures out how the Ultimate Shield works, Greed is nigh indestructible, and probably one of the 3 most powerful homunculi.

That's hard to explain without giving away spoilers for the next episode... You'll see what he means if you read the corresponding part in the manga or when you see the episode next week. Can't get any less vague than that... ^_^

Yeah it was good placement, though i still prefer it's use during the Lust battle.

Yeah that was seriously good. The eye catch topped it all off.

Is Buccaneer really dead? Like, dead dead? He managed to survive a hell of a lot so far The Greed counterattack was good, although it could have been more overwhelming (less explosions/more blood) but I don't really mind anyway. The end left me with a suspicion that Mustang says he'll do it, snatch the red stuff and pour it on Hawkeye...but iunno, it sounds too cliche, so I'm expecting something to surprise me.

I was really looking forward to how they handle this particular page in the anime:

Spoiler for space:

And I was a bit disappointed. He didn't look quite as evil and intense in the anime.

I completely agree. I think it might just be my favourite death in FMA so far, his final words, the visuals, the music... everything was perfect. Sad to see him go, but at least his death wasn't in vain, and he even went out smiling. Truly a great death.

Yay, liked Lings action moments! Especially liked how he looked when standing on lift while going down

Nice to see the editional scene with Olivier and seeing how she had smacked the old geezer.
Poor Buccaneer Thouh I liked how he refers to Olivier as Queen, he sure respected her a lot.

Pretty much my thoughts, too. My expectations weren't met in the Greed part. Beginning from Ranfan's tear to Greed going Berserk. Music placement was awesome, though. The lift really paid off.

Buccaner's death was way more touching in the anime for me, too.
All in all - a very enjoyable episode.

Ah another thing:
HAAAAAAAAWKEYE! T___T

God that scene kills me everytime DX. Expected the throat slit to be the clifff hangar, but this one isn't bad either. Works better with the beginning of next episode too.
You know, whenever my favourites get hurt, I feel it too ._.

I loved it, especially Greed's/Ling's rush there against the Central soldiers and when he descended on the lift. They both rose with 20 points on my "cool meter" there. I really like the chemistry between Ling and Greed, they contrast each other and what the other lacks the other makes up for and they help each other out. Greed and Ling are definitely two of my favourite characters.

Buccaneer's death was pretty emotional and touching, I felt a little liquid on it's way out but it never did. I liked it.

The cliffhanger made me gasp, I got a little frantic when the ending credits suddenly came and I went "It's over already? Camaaawn!"

I never read the manga though so I don't know how all these scenes were in it, but I really liked this episode and like many others said the music placement was brilliant.

And I'm pretty new to the FMA forum here (I didn't see it until just now and I was like "YATTA!"). But good to be here.

Oh and I DON'T WANT TO WAIT A WEEK!

Damn this is one of the toughest cliffhangers the series has thrown at us. I mean we are actually supposed to wait a week to find out what happens!? Mustang is pretty much put in a terrible situation and doesn't have many choices. Even if he does it the cost will be tremendously high. I doubt he'll luck out like Ed and only have to hand over a limb. Not that losing a limb is easy, but there are certainly worse things.

Things are looking pretty bad below the city. Ed and company are captured and Hawkeye is bleeding out.

Awesome episode. I'm still disappointed with how underplayed Mustang's powers seem during the rejected Bradleys scene. He should have been owning them. I'll forgive the mangaka if the whole 5 sacrifices thing is truly amazing and totally worth Mustang's pathetic display.

Well he can't really be blowing things up there with everyone around. And those oldires are far superior to dolls. While he might be burnng one soldier, others won't let him be.
