So lets get this straight:
Soul Society gets invaded, and a majority of officers loose their bankais and their lives. So instead of preparing your biggest secret weapon (Unohana) who will now have the biggest motivation to go on the attack, you DELIBERATELY KILL HER OFFF!!!!??? NO!! This is NOT Ruroni Kenshin!!! All Kenpachi had to do is to listen to his Zanpakuto, not this "learn how to kill" BS! |

Whatever, she's dead or not dead. We'll find out for sure later. He could be lying to protect her from the Sternritter for all we know, she is their best healer after all. Bleach handles death like Schrodinger handles quantum mechanics.
So um....what happened to Yachiru? She didn't fall with Isane.

What I gathered from this chapter:
Ken-chan somehow inherited some kind of power when he killed Unohana, that's tied to the name "Kenpachi". Since she was the first Kenpachi and was never previously beaten, he was never really "Kenpachi" until he killed her. Remember the deal with the Elder Wand in Deathly Hallows? Like that. She's chillin' with Askin Naak le Vaar, Kira's mortality, and whoever whacked that Nazi Sternritter back in Hueco Mundo. Kubo will remember her eventually and she'll show up again...hopefully... Right?

Well, well. First two captains go down like suckers and die in their sleep, then a character with one of the richest backstories is confirmed to be gone for good. Now we'll never know how and why Yachiru Unohana, captain of Squad 11 and a serial killer, became Retsu Unohana, captain of Squad 4 and a professional healer. Kubo gave her a past, polarizingly opposite to her present, and then killed her off, all for the sake of Zaraki finally deserving to call himself Kenpachi. And he didn't even bother to explain her bankai.
Fuck you for treating your own creation like shit, Kubo. P.S. Hope still lives, and we may yet see a couple of flashbacks about Unohana. |

Yeah this felt like one of the shortest chapters ever, even by Bleach standards. Maybe it was because of the color page. Still great though. Kenpachi is still in for a real fight most likely, but that kid is going to lose because he already imagined his opponent would be strong from the start.
I thought the earlier letters in the alphabet would be stronger, but I guess there's no correlation. |
