the sales are good. It's only vol 1 but it already sold 4.7

we can expect that it will exceed season 1 total sale of 10+

Keep in mind those are DVD sales only and does not include BD sales which are sometimes higher or split 50/50 between the two formats.

you got to keep in mind though that in japan dvds and blue rays cost an arm and a leg especially if your importing

That's because there probably is more people interested in TV shows and movies than there are people interested in anime

And if you compare sales only in America to sales in Japan, .. well, America has pretty damn big population compared to Japan so yeah.

Okay finally gotten the numbers in.

Index 2 vol 1 has gotten 4,749 for DVD sales... And what I'm assuming (Compared to most of the other series on the list) is a whopping 12,721 for BD sales, making the total sum to be 17,470 worth of stuff for the first week.

I'm no expert, but word on the cyber street is that while it certainly beat season one's sales, but still has abit more to go before matching Railgun's.

(Keeping in mind that this is only the first week of the first volume.)

Yeah, it's currently ahead of Index Season One Vol. 1 but not up to the level of Railgun.

Of course, the real test is whether the numbers can remain consistent through the entire run. Railgun had rock solid staying power, whereas Index notably declined over time (but still remained fairly strong).

Vol. 1 sold nearly 27,000 copies. The OVA has reached 35,000. Amongst the Japanese audience, Railgun did way better than the first season of Index, both critically and commercially.

in one week? wow thats pretty damn good. So railgun sold more than part 1 in blu ray by itself

Not in one week. First week was between 20k and 21k.

Those sales pretty much guarantee a 3rd season of Index...

17,470 br/dvd for the opening week of Index II Vol 1 compared to...
15,881 br/dvd sales for the lifetime of Index Vol 1....

Index II vol 1 should hit 20-21k, which is 7-8k off Railgun Vol 1 but still 4-5k better than Index 1.
