Go check the To Aru Wiki or read the Light Novels. Acqua is undoubtedly one of the most awesome characters in the series. And that's saying a lot, considering people like Ollerus or Archangel Gabriel.

Aqua of the Back appeared in the second last episode of Index II.

He's the guy who picked up Vent of the Front after she was defeated.

Aqua was mad OPed before he was eventually defeated by Touma and the Kamijou Brigade (Amakusas + Fallen Angel Ero Maid). The guy curb stomped 50 trained Amakusa, Touman and outmatched Kanzaki. Too bad we will never see him like that again.

I had an interesting idea this time, inspired a little by the book from Soul Sacrifice.

What seems to be an Interactive story (reveal itself or alter its contents as things goes by):

When a special power (Fate altering) activated, some chapter will become affected (AKA edited). Effectively means the story is rewritten (suit my procrastinating personality ) and the story is a little different than it originally begin.

Also, the original characters can meet Canon cast, interact with them as many time as possible. OC and Canon cast can pull off some heroic stunt but any death, memory, injuries will be erased because event has been altered and therefore never existed in the first place. (Imagine Breaker might save Touma from being erased but it could not protect Touma from being affected by altered event (including memory))

Rinse and repeat.....Rinse and repeat...rinse and repeat.

Did I mention that the main lead will actually retain memories? (implication apply) :Evil laugh:

Action Plan:
First (As in "official" timeline of the story) Cycle: Boring school life stuff (deliberately starting off as classical and cliched high School romance)

Also with a few dummy chapters (either single sentence("Details are fuzzy but we lose the Daihaseisai")/boring stuff ("I take a potato chip....and....EAT IT!") or"I can't remember what happen") until shit hit the fan (this is the academy city after all.... nothing happening is weird).

The medium (like Misaki's remote control) used to change fate is Writting brush..... being used like knife (slashing movement..... as if correcting mistake by striking words out).

The joke is taking the concept of pen is mightier than sword too literally. Also using stationary as weapons (to be fair, if your life is in danger, anything goes).

Because they have. This is supposed to be a complete rewrite of Index after all, since the author was unhappy with how the series went. It's barely Index at all, more like Dresden Files in the Indexverse. I like Dresden Files, but not in that context.

That's the reason I never read rewrites that significantly change the way the world works. The changes are always for the worse. Also it just irks me that the writer thinks they know better then the original creator.

I wouldn't mind as much, except for the fact that some of the changes so far barely make sense from an in-universe perspective, seem rather arbitrary at the moment (which admittedly can't be helped) and by reading between the lines a bit, you can tell that the writer is someone who has only seen the anime, and possibly read the railgun manga.

So basically they're criticizing a universe they only have a partial understanding of supplemented by wiki info which fails to bring context to the table.

You guys bash In Memoriam way too much. It is a good rewrite with changes being not obnoxious, but quite sensible, if arguable. Also, a miss with novels, because Shockz did read them.

All to say, you can enjoy Index, and enjoy this fic. I personally do, and you should too, there is seriously worse rewrite than that.

Alright, I have a prologue for a fanfiction that I have been entertaining in my head for a while. The premise is that Touma is going to go a journey to learn about his past. Simple. I'm planning on having him learn his past from the perspective of different people and the damaged letters he wrote to his parents. "Unreliable Narrator" is going to be a thing.

The prologue is set in the brief moment he reunites with Index at the end of the 22th Volume. I wanted to show his inner thoughts in this piece and show what lead to him wanting to pursue his lost past. I will admit right now that I am not delusional enough to believe that I'm a good writer. Any suggestions and criticism would be wonderful.

Spoiler for Prologue Draft:

An abnormal structure currently dominated the starless night sky. Its curious shape give it the appearance of a single star shining with magnificent light. Anyone with a passing knowledge on Christianity would be able to recognize what the abnormal structure resembles. Only those who have become involved in the occult would recognize the true significance of that structure. It was the floating fortress known as The Star of Bethlehem. A monstrous fortress created for the misguided purpose of saving the world.

Soon after it had rose into the Heavens, the fortress shuddered and began to descend towards the Earth. The cause for the sudden change were many, but the major factor was the existence of one teenager who saved the Misguided Hero who knew nothing about the world he wanted to save. That ordinary teenager with an extraordinary Right Hand was now the sole occupant of the falling Star of Bethlehem. He stayed behind because there were still unresolved matters left on that dying Star.

Kamijou Touma was frantically searching the cracked ground for an important object that was flung when he delivered the final blow to the Misguided Hero. The object was a Spiritual Remote Control that the Misguided Hero used to gain access to the vast magical knowledge from within Index, the white garbed girl his previous self died for. So long as that magical device was intact, her conscience would remain trapped in it. His first priority was to locate it and destroy it with his Right Hand. The constant trembling only severed as a grim reminder of how limited his time was.

Dread slowly seeped into his being as he scrambled across the unstable ground in his search. It was quite strange. From simple delinquents to ridiculously powerful Magicians who better resembled a Final Boss in a role-playing game, this self proclaimed ordinary young man has courageously faced down such opponents armed with nothing but his determination and his Right Hand. His constant misfortune over these past few months has given him the experience needed to face the extraordinary forces that repeatedly threaten to end the happiness of those around him. The extraordinary was something that he was very familiar with and he was at his best when dropped right in the amidst of an extraordinary occurrence. Of course, this is mostly due to the fact that the extraordinary has always been a major part of his life since the day he first opened his eyes.

As far as he was concerned, this Kamijou Touma was born on July of this year. On that faithful day, he was told that the previous him had risked his life in an extraordinary event to save a Sister garbed in white cloth. It was on that day she knowingly declared her love to the newly born stranger in a vain hope to reach out to the person she once knew. He still vividly remembered the look she had that day. A gut wrenching look that bore into his very soul. A broken smile that desperately tried to maintain the illusion that everything was alright. When he saw that look, he wanted nothing more than to prove that illusion was real and make her happy.

What he feared was not his uncertain fate on this falling Star nor the possibility that he could fail his mission. Deep down, he feared the eventual confrontation with Index once he located the Spiritual Remote Control. Index knows the truth. The Misguided Hero had discovered his secret and reveled it to her. He taunted him with the knowledge of his lie in order to harm his very spirit. While Touma was able to admit his fault and push forward, he still needed to tell her the truth himself.

“Touma.”

A soft voice reached out for him. Whatever fear he was harboring was exorcised out in an instant like a demon being purged from his soul. It has been a long time since he heard Index call out his name.

“Touma.”

Index called out his name once more. Now that the Spiritual Remote Control was no longer possessed by the Misguided Hero, her conscience regained a small bit of freedom. He turned towards her voice and was greeted with an upside-down, transparent avatar of Index.

“Why didn't you escape.”

This was not a question. Index knew fully well why he choose to remain on the dying Star. She just wanted to hear him voice it.

“Because none of this is over yet. Not only do I have to deal with your spiritual item, but I have to deal with this fortress itself.”

There was not much she could do in her current state except lead Touma to where the Spiritual Remote Control had fallen. As he traversed downward on a crumbling staircase, his expression slowly became more somber. The joy brought on by his reunion with Index had quickly worn off. He needed to tell her.

“...I'm sorry.”

His vision quickly shifted to the area behind Index. He should be able to bare this pain. If he truly pretended to be his previous self in order to maintain her happiness and not just to satisfy his own selfish need to be accepted by her, than he should be able to look straight into her eyes.

“I’ve done something terrible to you. I’ve been fooling you this whole time. I’ll tell you everything now. I have no proof that I’ll make it back from the Star of Bethlehem, so I’ll tell you while I can.”

This might be his last chance. Touma may be an incredibly idealist individual, but that did not make him naïve fool.

“I...”

“It’s fine,” Index said as she interrupted him. “That…doesn’t matter anymore. As long as the usual you returns from this, nothing else matters.”

Touma stared at her in silence. He expected her to be furious. Devastated by the fact that the illusion he crafted specifically to maintain her happiness has been violently shattered. Disgusted that he had purposely hid the truth from her this whole time. Instead, he was simply ensured that the only thing she wanted was for him to return back home. To clarify, she wanted the current Kamijou Touma to return home. Her words strengthen his resolve to make her wish a reality.

“I will come back.”

Touma smiled brightly at Index. It was the first one he gave this whole reunion.

“I won’t just do this through the spiritual item. Once I return, I will make sure to bow down to you in person.”

Index could not help herself from smiling back. She believed without a doubt that Touma would return like he always did. This situation was no different.

The thing is allfictions, I don't mind the Engrish being sorted out, or the characters aged up.

Take Maika for example. I don't mind that she's no longer a Maid. What gets me is that she's swapped the Maid cliche for the computer/hacker genius cliche. Its swapping and cliche for a cliche, and what's worse is that we've got the same skill set in Uiharu.

Then there is the Touma is a Level 1 deal and how IPD works, and the more I think on it, the less sense it makes.

And then there is Index with her magic and that's great, but it knee-jerks my reaction into think "Oh, so while you've made everyone else more competent, you've made the antagonists less competent"
