Man I've read some Claymore and its honestly pretty poorly put together. It did not grab me at all in the promo it got in Shonen Jump USA, I did not like Claire and non of the characters seemed interesting or even seemed to interact at all. Usually I really like Shonen action series because the characters personalities, their strategizing in combat, and how they relate to each other more than make up for any cheesy action and such. In Claymore it looks like Clare just goes berserk and cleaves everything with her Bastard Sword and then broods over matters, and the boy that follows her barely had any real interaction with her.
Just out of curiousity how many people have read any of the manga? Does it improve at all beyond this? Because otherwise its a definite pass. |

I've stayed away from answering this for a while now (inevitably when I start looking forward to something it will turn out to suck). Right now I'm looking forward to The "Oh God, contain my excitement" level: Darker Than Black Dennou Coil Seirei no Moribito The "I read that manga, and am looking forward to seeing it animated" level Emma Season 2 Hayate the Combat Butler Nagarasete Airantou Claymore The "Other people seem to like the manga, I'll check it out" level Bokurano Kamichama Karin Lucky Star Kaibutsu Oujo The "Cautiously optimistic" level El Cazador Bokurano To Terra Kaze no Stigma Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

After reading hashihime's blog i have a clearer understanding of what I think I want to watch
Highly Anticipating: Claymore (heard good things) Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Strikers (watched first two seasons) Hayate the Combat Butler (again, heard good things) Seto no Hanayome (read the first few chapters of the manga) Anticipating: Nagasarete Airantou (skeptical of harems, might be a hit or miss) Kamichama Karin (heard of story, looks like it'll be good) Seirei no Moribito (trailer was awesome) Lovely Complex (i like good romances) High Possiblity for ENJOYMENT!: Shining Tears (image on hashihime's blog looks cool) Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica (originally thought to watch this when I saw posted in the unaired forum, but didn't know anything about it, now I do) Kaze no Stigma (originally intrigued b/c it looked like a "grown-up" shana, altho i heard the story is nothing like shana's) Heroic Age (seems like a scifi/mecha/adventure series... *thumbs up*) Will At Least Watch One Episode Sisters of Wellber Darker than Black- Kuro no Keiyakusha (saw trailer, afraid it will be too actiony) To Terra... Bokurano (b/c every1 is looking forward to it) Will Only Pickup if Popularity Ensues (or if lots of people say its good) El Cazador Idolmaster Xenoglossia Romeo x Juliet Princess Resurrection Koutetsu Sangokushi sola I usually pick up about 10 - 12 series and keep up with 6 or 7. Although this semester is quite busy for me, so I might not be able to watch that much :/ And its weird, because there is ALWAYS something that I don't end up choosing that ends up being one of my favorite series of the season. As of right now the show I am most looking forward to is Dennou Coil but I know for sure I am definitly going to check out Darker than Black and Seirei no Moribito. Other than that there are many shows that I will eventually check out but those seemed the most interesting thus far. I'm also anticipating the new Kino no Tabi movie but I am not sure if that is coming out in spring or not.

All this anticipation for the Romeo and Juliet anime boggles my mind. We basically got Romeo and Juliet in anime form already with Basilisk (except with ninjas) just over a year ago. I honestly don't know how well Shakespeare will translate to another language. Half the reason it is studied in English classes is because of the significant contributions to the English language Shakespeare made, not necessarily because the plays are all that good. Personally, of the 5 Shakespeare plays I studied in class, I thought Romeo and Juliet was the worst. Now if they did an anime version of MacBeth, there's something I'd want to see.

Well, the reason I'm anticipating Romeo X Juliet is because of how many times it's been forced down my throat in education. I don't necessarily like the original play, but it's nice to see a different take on it - especially in a medium I particularly enjoy.

I seem to have tons of animes I want to check out... but of course that opinion could change the moment I get to see the actual animes...
Some of which are: Saiunkoku Monogatari, Terra e, Emma Season 2, Kamichama Karin, Claymore, Kaze no Stigma, Ookiku Furikabutte, Romeo x Juliet, and Devil May Cry. ^^;; anyways, I posted some thoughts I have regarding the animes that I found interesting in my blog (though it's still incomplete, planning to post the last batch tomorrow)... so anyone who wants to see it, just go click on that signature of mine to go to my blog |

This is my tentative checkout list for the spring season with options for add/drop before the end of April
~sola~ --- romance with spooky ethereal overtones? The audio prologue CD got me hooked. Lucky*Star --- 4-koma time with cute girls doing funny things with geekish overtones. It'll be interesting to see if KyoAni can do 4-koma adaptations. Wellber no Monogatari ~Sisters of Wellber~ --- the princess gone underground and the thief .... looks promising. Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS --- small girls with big weapons and, oddly, interesting characterizations. Darker than BLACK -Kuro no Keiyakusha- --- Constantiine goes goth? Anyway, looks well designed and may serve as an interesting flipside to balance the silliness and the comedy. Lovely Complex --- looks like the classic romantic comedy stuff I'm a sucker for. Tall girl and short guy who are buddies but things happen and... Seirei no Moribito Fantasy epic stuff, very pretty art/animation, worth a look. Claymore --- half demon girls with named swords battling hellspawn I'm sure it'll be charming and character-driven Nagasarete Airantou --- castaway boy on island of only girls ... I'm sure it'll be Shakespearean in scope <rofl> mindless fun except that I'm betting the boy has all the appeal of Gilligan. There are others and that list may change as various people recommend things and I drop items that don't pan out for me.

Omni has put together yet another amazing preview teaser page for the upcoming season.
http://randomc.animeblogger.net/2007...-2007-preview/ He doesnt mention emma2, but otherwise an excellent read. This seems like a very promising spring lineup, I think I'll watch at least 50% of the shows he lists. |

Alright, first up, thanks to bloggers like Kaoru Chujo, Omni and Impz for their lists and summaries that have helped me in choosing what I'll be following. Makes it easier for someone who doesn't have a lot of time.
With start of Spring Season 2007 less than a week away (by all accounts, I consider Spring Season started as soon as StrikerS airs), here are the series I have decided to watch. I'm including premiere dates and air times (GMT+8) for personal reference. In fact, this whole post is for personal reference. In no particular order, I know I will be watching:

Shounen manga website had the demo anime up for several days. I couldn't find it now. Don't worry. It's not your lose. It looked horrible, and it lasted only 5 seconds.
Hopefully, the actual anime will justify the manga after mangaka oversee the project. Quote:
I am looking forward to 君が主で執事が俺で TV anime The anime is done by the writer and the illustrator of Tsuyokiss. The fans of Tsuyokiss game had mourn for the exceedingly disappointing Tsuyokiss anime. This time, the creators of the game will involve in the anime project. It's too early to say how it will turn out. Just cross the fingers.
