Slave Harem in the Labyrinth of the Other World / Isekai Meikyuu de Harem o animesuki

By : SOGANO Shachi
Illustrator : SHIKI Douji

Synopsis :
Quote:
A young man was about to commit suicide and decides to search for a way to die in the internet, but then he found an odd site that asked a lot of questions and had a point based system that allows you to create skills and abilities for a character. He took interest in it and when he finished setting his character he was asked "You will now be transported to a world with the settings you choose, coming back is not possible, do you still accept?", Then without thinking much of it he pressed YES and found himself in another world with the skills and abilities he chose to have.

Spoiler for LN Volume Covers and others:

Web novel
Web novel translation

I'm creating the thread on Slave Harem because I'm surprised no one else did it before me

This novel is a bit weird is pretty slow, kind a slice of life of a world traveller with cheats, is boring in some parts but I can't drop it.
Personally I hate the MC, is a lucky idiot with some very rare stroke of genius, he have a big cheat in that world but hides it too much.
I dislike how the author changed the world system in some parts, like the magic fire sword at the start, but in the end I want to know what happens next even with all the errors and turnbacks.

^Holy shit... you made the thread

Honestly speaking... it's crap

Nobody made it coz it's crap

Btw, Slave Harem in the Labyrinth of the Other World / Isekai Meikyuu de Harem o animesuki... wut?

To be fair, here's my impartial simple review (I read about 150 chapters way back then)

The Good :
- The dwarf girl Sherry, the only "living" character
- Great RPG system, which is imitated by many WN that comes out later
- The non-daily life events like when he's assassinating bandits or dueling his slave acquaintance

The Bad :
- Lifeless. Characters have no emotion. Side characters basically NPC (hell, the discount skill works and nobody realizes anything wrong with it). Even heroines don't have emotion, fucked by MC the first day they met and what's their reaction? nothing. Spent a long time with MC but aside from shocked by his "cheat", nothing changes. No love confession no nothing.
- Boring. 90% of this novel is about their daily lives. Like this, day 9 : make breakfast, teleport to 3rd floor of a dungeon (oh, the dungeon is boring too, every dungeon is the same), grind, teleport home, lunch, fill the bathtub with hot water, bath, dinner, snusnu sleep. day 10 : make breakfast, teleport to 4th floor of a dungeon, grind, teleport home, lunch, fill the bathtub with hot water, bath, dinner, snusnu sleep. Repeat ad infinitum. On some rare occassion, also exploiting teleport skill to buy cheap sell high. day 11 : teleport far away, buy mirror, teleport far away, sell mirror. day 12 : teleport far away, buy mirror, teleport far away, sell mirror.
- Slow. Despite already switching to added experience skills, the leveling is very slow, resulting in the aforementioned boring daily lives.
- Bland. The world itself is bland. No points of interest. Dungeons have no characteristic.
- Obscure. Details severely lacking on geopolitical situation of the world. How many neighboring countries, form of governments, common laws, etc etc? No details whatsoever.
- Empty. No important side characters but the elf lord and wife. Aside from the slaves and himself, appearing characters are only shopkeepers and receptionists.
- Super Hetare. The heroines are all slaves. I know the title is "Slave Harem" but doesn't mean that ALL heroines must be slave. Basically no effort to winning a heroine. Just buy and fuck. No difference to what Satou does with his beloved prostitutes.

That's all folks~

The reason why nobody created a thread for this lies in the thing, that many people hate this series (I like it) and that it is almost stalled (update once in several months and usually without much developement).

The MC there is not really hiding his cheat so much, just trying for it not to get unnecessarily know. There are dozens much worse examples, MCs who hide it even in front of theri harem, hiding power even if it means risking someone dear etc.

Also, he was planning for a suicide? Why? (it's been several years since I read this)

While I have to say, that this series has many weak points, it is generally good and worth reading. It has also influenced many (really many) other series on narou.

^^^^ Yeah, I was speaking about you about the hate.

^^^ There is even a thread about the mage that revinded his life and tried to master the magic, that one is really boring.

Also, you both have stolen my first reply .

^ Well, he had to leave the world somehow. Still better than dying after gets revealed, that you watched a porn of your brother's daughter (small child) during the burial of your parents. (other well known work)

If there's a single common understanding here, it's that this novel is crap...

Lifeless, is what this novel is.

Heroines with doorknob personality
Side characters as interesting as NPC
and stupid MC who snusnu the slaves the day they were bought on (which they just acted like dead tuna) and the next day seemingly nothing happened

^ It is not common understanding. While I agree on all weak points you pointed out, I still think that this novel is nice to read. The only real common understanding on animesuki is that Hentaiga should never get 100m close to any small child .

Wait this wasn't an insert yourself slice of life?

I was under the impression the characters were intentionally not given much background or personality so its easier to get into the character. It's still pretty half-assed even with that being the case, but as a slice of life it's not bad.

The best argument against this series is its wish-fulfillment, but then again that's the same for the majority of fantasy in general. Reading this series to me was about as good as playing an RPG for a day or two and that's all I expected given the obvious title.

I'm also a fan of this series but I agree it is nothing special, the amount of bashing it gets amuses me though... I've seen much worse series in WN, LN, and anime(or rather the majority of anime these days is worse than this)

@Hentaiga do you like to get to know your snickers bars before you eat them as well?

At the end of the day. I still prefer this over the rinse and repeat method of Chaotic Sword God

I read it but I can see and agree with pretty much everyone's points. The charachters are shallow, the main charachter is at best boring, the only real defining trait I can say about him is paranoia. Everything is a secret, and he is suspicious of everyone.

And yet... I keep reading it for some reason, probably because the translation effort moves along at a brisk enough pace, and I do like another web novel they translate a bit a diffrent world with a smartphone.

I used to follow this one, but I dropped it after I realize that there's absolutely no point to the story. I sometimes question if this is what would happen if Death March suddenly had crazy amounts of sex?

I actually like this one, at least the MC who has a harem doesn΄t shy away from doing what he actually want, like a big part of the MCs... but i agree it is a bit slow

Seriously? I thought the next and final slave had to be a elf but the sister of a noble?

Reading the comments it seems like everybody think the same of this novel, is boring but we still read it.

Oh, the more everyone talk about this, the more I remember why I finally dropped this one.

I hate stories where the MCs just commits suicide and is reincarnated to a new world with cheats. Like they won the lottery or whatever. I could ignore this if the MC is likable but, this MC is just... such a wimp. He's a cowardly, scummy character who should have played the villain rather than the hero of his own story. And the only reason he's successful in his new world is because he has cheats. A MONKEY would do better in his place. Like, literally. Without his cheats, he'd either be killed by the bandits or punished by the villagers (cause he stole shoes and made his first job was thief) upon arrival. I read this hoping that one of MC's stupid decisions will come back to bite him or that he would mess up and learn a lesson, but nope. Apparently, the author thinks he's perfect just the way he is!

On a side-note, does MC even deserve his harem? He has almost no redeemable traits and almost no real achievement of his own. He does nothing for his girls except use them and occasionally (and reluctantly) toss them a treat. And for some reason, they love him all the more for it. I get that they're slaves but... come on.. I think that's why so many people say they have absolutely no personality.
