It's not completely out of the question but the 'benefactor' really smells like 'compensation.' The aardvark is the real wildcard. He is probably linked to the benefactor but I don't think he's siding with whoever that is.

Either 10 or 11. The doctor said he read it for the first time in 30 years when Goriki came to see him. Odokawa is listed as 41 years old currently.

Ah, my recall of the scene between the doctors was wrong. When Goriki was reading the newspaper account of the accident, it refers to young Odakawa-kun as being in the fourth grade, not age four, so 10-11 sounds right.

My nominee for episode of the year.

Then again there's always next week.

The scene between the Daimon brothers on the bridge was perhaps the emotional high point, but there were many highs all through these twenty-four minutes.

Spoiler:

A lot of threads converged in this episode, but there's still a lot of ground to cover in the final episode.

What an episode. This is coming together well. If they pull off the final episode, this is the best series I've seen in 3 years.

Dobu was the cause of dodo boy's grief all along. Serves him right for being a bank addicted dodo robber. Best villain I've seen in ages.

So...why is the guy who runs the orphanage so important...and why an orphanage specifically for orphans from car accidents? That's very specific. And what kind of orphanage keeps helping someone for that long? And why would his daughter be killed?

There was no mention of Odokawa's supposed issues during this episode. But supposedly Goriki will learn something in the final ep. Whatever happened with the idols and why one of them was murdered needs resolving. Are the comedy duo meant to be significant since they appeared this ep?

And there's the whole issue that Yano probably wants Odokawa dead in the worst way right now.

This title sure knew how to build and make sure the last ep would be climactic. May it come together...please...

I started over from the beginning. The first episode covers an enormous amount of ground and introduces most of the extensive cast. You can see how occasional bits of dialogue foreshadow future events. Such a tightly-written script. Hope we get to see more from this team.

One thing bugs me though. Why do most of Odakawa's passengers never close the cab door when they leave? And Odokawa never asks them to close it either.

Odakawa can close the door from his seat, I believe

Oh my god, that ending.

Yeah, that seals it, I think this is my anime of the year right here. I also think it'll be a show which merits rewatching to catch things you might have missed the first time viewing.

There was one point where I was half expecting the entire cast to start singing Aimee Mann's "Wise Up".

Absolutely great ending.

I really hope we'll get more of this. But, on the other hand, I am not sure if it will be a good idea.

What I can say still is that this anime deservers all the best. I will be sad if it flops.

It was actully shown in one of the first eps that passengers door is automatic. They just only showed it like once or twice as it is a pretty minor detail.

It's a shame the audio dramas that were released weekly on youtube are not translated. They're not necessary to enjoy the show but add to the overall experience and with the release of the last one this week, also makes the finale have even more... impact.

Spoiler for Audio drama:

Yeah, THAT is an ending. 9.5/10, best series I've seen in 36 months. The art of telling a very cohesive story with a bounty of good characters has not been completely. I wonder how long it will be before I see anything else from the present/near future reach its level.

Hell, I'll give it extra props for depicting idols as the utter scum they are.

There's a Blu-Ray order campaign done. The anime production committee staff said that there weren't plans to do one since sales have plummetted lately.

I think some props are due to Crunchyroll's translation team for this show. I can't speak to the accuracy of the translation, but it certainly conveyed the clever wordplay throughout this show.

I'm not sure how to feel about that ending. Please be safe Odakawa.
