Soukou no Strain
I'm not 100% sure it's hated per se, but it does seem to be overlooked and forgotten. It's not really the best series in the world, but I like it just the same. Bonus points for having an absolutely awesome first-episode Wham Episode. Spoiler for first episode:
El Cazador de la Bruja Yeah I know practically everyone hated this. It was really weird, way weirder than either of its predecessors, but being a yuri fangirl I squee'd pretty hard over Nadie and Ellis. Plus the villain made me giggle, and the Mexican cross-dressing bounty hunters were hilarious. Umineko no Naku Koro ni I realize that most of the people who hate this series are those who have read the VNs, but still, I think the hate is unwarranted. Umineko marks the first time I've really seen Studio DEEN not totally go Off Model every five seconds (ugh, DEEN, I love Shion no Ou but wow you guys really screwed it up half the time) and I find the show itself to be entertaining. No, I haven't read the VNs and I don't plan on doing so.

I enjoy several shows that other people seem to hate for one reason or another. As an earlier poster noted, Suzuka seems to elicit some pretty strong negative responses, but I thoroughly enjoy it. Maybe it's like a fine wine.
I also tend to like some of the popular shows that are not as popular as they once were. Inuyasha, Love Hina, and Naruto come to mind. It's like Ranma 1/2 used to be: first it was the most popular show, then it became a focus of ridicule and scorn, and now I'm not even sure how many current anime fans are really familiar with it. The big shows all seem to follow this pattern, maybe as a way for fans to distinguish themselves from the older set? I can't think of any other shows to mention because frankly I don't know which ones are hated. I watch everything from mecha to romance to drama to show's aimed at children (do people hate Snow Fairy Sugar?), and I often find things to like about them all. Then again, I never understood the fascination with FLCL and Excel Saga. |

In fact I find it be quite a bit overrated here on the internet. (It just isn't anything special in the end...)

(Which I agree with). Quote:
And Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo was crazy awesome and also funny as hell. Leloupard FTW. Random Baseball Episode #9 had me laughing so hard I almost peed myself.

Shigurui.
It's not like people really hate this series, but most of them don't really care about it, or they think it's nothing special. And it's a shame, because to me it's one of the best anime series ever made. The visuals, the music, the direction, the atmosphere, everything about this series is incredible. |

Because K-On is a better show than Musashi Gundoh. As for Musashi, you can't hate it, regardless how bad is it. It much comparing Gran Turismo to Big Rigs. It's considered cool to hate better things than genuinely bad ones. |

I've always had a particular fondness for Jikuu Tenshou Nazca (best known as the anime seen during the opening credits of Malcolm in the Middle).

The story was average and slightly confusing at best.
