It's the ending theme that's guaranteed to come in last on your playlist.

Or they're trying to expand their horizons and branch out into something that's both within and outside their comfort zone. The number of times "trolling" comes up on here as a reason and response to everything really baffles me.

Of course I said that in jest (internet humor, right?) but it's not like KyoAni aren't known to be trolls. I can imagine them sitting around a table and thinking "SHAFT sure have been successful these days, let's do something they would do!" or something to that effect.

That looks more like the wackiness I was expecting.

Now I am sort of expecting "Lucky Star on Crack"

That... opening...

If this show is half as good as that it's going to be fantastic. Color me impressed.

So they are putting it out under the English title of "My Ordinary Life"?
Hmmm. How ordinary is it to have a talking cat, an loli professor, and a humanoid robot?

EDIT: Seen Episode 1 RAW

OH. MY. GOD.

This show is So freaking random. The OP is correct, and Episode 00 was to sneak this in under the radar.

Lucky Star on Crack it is.

It will be nice to watch a SHAFT style show with actual good animation in it.

I'm sure if Shinbo took offense he could just email them how much Bakemonogatari and Madoka have/will sold/sell.

This is slowly turning into the next thing turned into gold by Kyoani.

EDIT: Ep 1 was really full of whack. Nichijou is such an apt name for this series. Lol Sasahara.

It kind of felt like they tried to match Yuko's "3 second rule" with Misao's line from Lucky Star right down to the enunciation on the last "rule". Too bad Misao's VA is already doing a different character in Nichijo . I really like the BGM they're using; it feels kind of like old school slapstick. The voice direction sounds good as always, and another Cho-voiced school principal who laughs at his own jokes is always a plus in my book.

Edit: And if anyone wants to double check how much epic Kyoani adds to a scene, compare Yuko's 2 minute sausage grabbing scene to chapter 12 in the manga.

Does anyone know what channel this aired on? It was supposed to air ait on TV Aichi at 2:20am, but the simulcast apparently comes out at 9pm and the RAW was just uploaded. Am I misunderstanding something, because I'm pretty sure 2:20am in Japan is 1:20pm EST.

Much of the United States is on Daylight Saving Time, thus maybe there is an hour difference?

Last on your playlist? Perhaps you meant first? The video wasn't spectacular, but I rather liked the song.

If the song is titled "Zzz", there is no alphabetical magic that can make it come anything other than last.

I guess I could attempt a limited review from what I could pickup.

Mio is the blue haired girl that looks a little like Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh.
Yuko is the brown haired girl that is mostly an idiot and seems hyper.
Mai is the quiet girl with the long hair and glasses.
Nano is the girl with the giant windup key in her back that looks passingly like Osaka from Azumanga Daioh.
The Professor is the child Nano is taking care of.

Of the characters we saw in Episode 00, only Sakomoto-san is missing. (The talking black cat)

Spoiler for Episode One...without translations:

There are some other weirdnesses going on that I didn't cover as well.

Umm... I'm a bit disappointed. It is boring, that's the thing.

The biggest problem, probably is that script/screenplay absolutely missed the point of original manga. Manga is relying on synthesis between random-situation and interaction between characters, but only the 'random situation' part was well presented but failed at 'interaction' part. So, only random situations was randomly presented, which is boring.

Seiyuus... another disappointment. I believed in Kyoto Animation, but this time, they failed. I couldn't point out any notable actings from any of the newbie seiyuus involved, unlike K-On which absolutely worked well. Animation and art quality was godly as usual, but colouring was worse than average.

Other than that, it was normal episode. However, it's definitely not something that Kyoto Animation is good at. SHAFT is much better at this kind of comedy. It will still sell due to animation quality itself is something that nothing can beat, but ultimately, I say this Kyoani's adventurous attempt ended up being just average with current prospect.

But who knows? It might get better. However, staffs involved in this episode was too godly. All the highest team members of Kyoani worked on this episode. That means, they went all out this episode. Yet, it wasn't that good.

Edited: Watched it subbed (Korean). It's fun and enjoyable, but boring and awkward moments are still there. However, I will follow this series until the end.

I do love it when a series eloquently and politely tells reality that it has been handed a pink slip and its services will no longer be required.
