Looks like I'm going to have to strike off all EA-games in the future then... Didn't buy ME3 and BF3 because of Origin, and apparently The Sims:Supernatural won't come to Steam either. Oh well... EA has lost one customer forever I guess.

Natch.

Already, I am salivating at the potential "organic" design of the city.

Whats the release date on this game? Late 2013? I am just wondering as I was thinking of getting xlcities 2012, but if this game is coming out soon, not much point.

From what I'm hearing through the grapevine, if you already have Cities XL 2011, you're not missing much by buying the 2012 edition. It's practically a Cities XL 2011 ver. 1.1.

But, having (only) played Sim City 4 a long time ago, this new SC edition looks like it's taking a leaf out of the Cities XL franchise, appearance-wise (though you could argue that CXL did borrow from SC and vice versa). The disappearance of electricity pylons and DIY underground water pipes is kinda welcome - I remember having to squander rows and columns of land plots in SC4 to allow room for the EPs.

Looking good so far.

I thought about it and im just going to wait for this to come out, as a lot of reviews on Cities XL say that it only uses single core, sooooooo that sucks. I will just be patience and wait

That is pretty damn awesome, and makes me really excited for the game. I love the modular stuff. However, I'm so disappointed that this is on Origin. Might have to bite the bullet, but I'm not to keen on the over-priced price that EA will insist on. Bloody ripoff merchants... I hope they open it up on Steam to, but at this point I may as well hope for a spot on the first manned flight to Mars.

And here's the disaster trailer:

I'm amused by the 1940's way of presentation in this video.

That is BAWS. I personally love how roads can now be curved. I hear this game is going to have agent-based representation of stuff; if the graphics can surpass those of Sim City 4, I'll definitely buy this.

Concealed in that disaster video is a gem: Sim City: Coming in February 2013

Wasn't it already announced that it was coming in Feb?

I'm not too bothered about the game being only online play. The bit that bothers me is that its origin only, I hate that program.

I must've missed the announcement, then. Hopefully, no harm was done.

At any rate, it'll be a small price to pay (the use of Origin), but I hear that Origin is insecure to the extreme. I use Battle.net and Steam, but I've never used Origin before. The online play business, I guess that means I can't build my cities while waiting for the bus

And my body is ready for that.

Actually, I'm gonna end up building a new PC, unless my current laptop can handle it.

Probably best to build a new PC if you can afford it, Because of the processing power needed, unless your laptop is a powerhouse

Origin is very unstable, the weekend gone past showed that. http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/10/15/ea...s-by-accident/

A lot of other "Accidents" have happened with origin since it started up.

The No Subways reply. That was disappointing.

The infographics. Detailed and presented clearly.

No terraform? I'll live with that. Like real world city building -- you take what you get.

The region thing? Well, suddenly, I find myself thinking: "Who'd I trust to be my neighbors?" XD

I remember when I was young, how awesome Sim City was. It's been a long time since I was that young though.

At the very least, I think Sim City needs to incorporate some new things in order to be relevant in today's age. As a start, they could take some lessons from the very, very, very, basic web..."game"...http://www.nationstates.net/

It feels like years since they've been updated, btw.
Also, cake.

The lack of terraforming might be a noticeable omission for me. I enjoyed the power to sculpt my lands very much in Sim City 4 Deluxe. That said, if the terrains they offer are diverse and fun, I would see it as more of a 'focus on city building' approach, which would be quite alright.

I just hope, this Sim City world would give enough real estate. Though, per design (as I'd assume), new SimCity users come in with regions of their own; and eventually, the collective regions add together into a giant SimCity world.

The International Airport idea. It'd be cool if there's a separate simulation server side, that tracks movement of Sims between regions, as they travel around.

===

Oh my tears. XD
