Still no discussion thread for 254. Decided to create one since it's behind schedule this week.

The chapter begins with Dol Doni unconscious having a past memory about Aizen. It seems that Dol was an Espada created before the Hougyoku was obtained. All Espada created before the Hougyoku were now considered obsolete, but Dol Doni accepts his fate under Aizen's new order.

Dol Doni awakens to the sight of Nell drooling/barfing on his face. Dol is humorously upset but Ichigo explains that Nell's spit has the ability to heal injuries. Dol Doni then acknowledges defeat and explains that he wanted to defeat Ichigo in hollow form to reclaim his position among the Espada.

Dol Doni then prepares to attack Ichigo again, pulling out his zanapakuto. Ichigo warns him that his wounds haven't full recovered but Dol is already charging. He and Ichigo rush toward each other and attack. Ichigo's blow breaks Dol's blade, defeating him. Without looking back, Ichigo grabs Nell and continues on.

Shortly after, a group of 13 hollows whom Dol calls the "Exequias" enter the room where the battle took place. The leader has a full hollow mask which resembles the skull of a longhorn steer. He informs Dol that the squad has orders to hunt down and kill Ichigo. Dol prepares to fight them apparently with the intention of giving Ichigo time to escape. The leader warns him that he can't release since his blade was broken and there is no way he can possibly win. Dol attacks anyway.

As he's fighting, Dol Doni acknowleges to himself that Ichigo could've defeated him easily without using hollow powers. He realizes that Ichigo went hollow to honor his wish of fighting him at full power and is grateful.

The next few scenes depict Ichigo running down a corridor with Nell in tow, he is still in bankai form. We see Chad facing his opponent kneeled upon one knee and he already seems tired. We also see Ishida facing his opponent. who is perched on a tall column. He/she appears to have wings of some sort. No signs of a mask can be seen, but the face has not yet been revealed.

I have a hunch Ichi being Ichi will come back to the aide of Dol . Its not correct for Dol to die and secondly its Ichi Chad and Ishida look beat up .. Cant wait to read what happens next

it's so funny how nell has similar healing power with 4th squad captain's bankai (the flying manta-ray fishy thingy). except nell's is a drool.....and barf.....LAWL

it's too adorable how nell and ichi get along together. I don't think ichi will come back and help doldoni...cuz i think he's dead from those guards. it should be useless for ichi to fight all those guards...unless he can keep up his hollow-zard form more than 10 secs.

to see ishida lying on the floor so helpless like that....its pathetic. oh well....i wanna see who's fighting with rukia and renji. I hope we get to see some bankai action from rukia.....or hollow action from renji........(not likely)

lol we havent seen anything, chad's arm hasnt even released yet. Time to see if Kubo wants Chad and Ishida to be strong or not : )

it's amazing that people would rather dream about bankai rukia and vaizard renji (wtf?) than acknowledge ishida who actually managed to k.o. a bankai captain while being paralyzed, unlike some "S.S. elite" we know.

if anyone's really pathetic, it's rukia and renji. they receive professional training for years/decades only to be caught up by our heros in a matter of weeks/months.

and yeah, i bet bankai ichigo is SO DEAD against a cannon fodder execution squad who wear the same masks/uniforms when he could instantly k.o. 3 VCs without zanpakutou in shikai. since when have people seen captain classes being overwhelmed by a large number of weaklings in bleach? why would aizen be needing the espadas or the elusive vastorodes anyway if a large number of gillian/faceless cannon fodders could take down 10 captains, none of whom as far as we know can go vaizard for more than 0 second?

On the other hand I do agree with the Ichigo argument . Those faceless hollows in my books are no match for Ichigo . Ichigo in Bankai Non Hollow form can take them on ... Dol Doni on other hand is injured and cant release . He can counter only with Cero depending on the severity of his injuries .. and Renji Vizard

I made Vasterode D Roy statement , Btw where were you , when in chapter 246 I admitted I was wrong . Jeez I am wrong I am wrong . Atleast I dont indulge in more stupidty to turn my wrongs into rights I did not make any of those other statements I dont even care about them I may debunk them if I have nothing better to do . But never debunk them on a personal level . In genrality those comparisions ( aka stupid love for chracters aka trolling ) makes ones posts sound more like Yellow flash and Uchicha Rave .

2ndly its a manga not the real world so give those ideas a rest ... The only authority on Bleach is Kubo and Kubo alone ...

The Questions this chapter raised is :-

* Will Ichigo return to help Dol

* Have Chad n Ishida encountered Tres Cifras

* What are Renji and Rukia upto

Nell Tu has taken a similar role as Hanataro now we are missing a Ganju type chara in HM arc . Dol is not that bad of guy how can a Don Kanoji look alike be Evil

doesn’t matter if ichigo returns. it would be a totally boring fight anyway with those cookie cutters, plus, doldoni’s not worth saving. he is weak, deluded and shamelessly attacks the defenseless for the prospects of promotion. unlike kenpachi, this guy deserves no respect.

chad and ishida should be going against doldonie's demoted mates. ishida finished a top tier fighter in S.S. there’s no reason to assume he’ll be stopped by anything other than a true espada. i shall insist that chad needs more armor to take on serious enemies. however, it’s not unlikely that the afro would stupidly decide to abandon tactics and try matching chad in raw power. in that case he’s toast.

we’ve already seen renji and rukia vs numeros. there’s little point in having similar match-ups again. ex-espadas are most likely for them too. if doldonie was no.3 then the lowest ranking ex-espadas could be damn weak indeed, it won’t be surprising if they’re conquered by VC class, but it's most likely going to be very bloody tough.

now offtopic:
those who think that i’m showing a stupid amount love/fanboyism for ichigo and aizen should ask yourselves this: why’s there so much fuss about a human kid ichigo in the first place? who would’ve given a rat’s arse about aizen, a dead captain? i know i took him as the lamest captain ever to get pinned to the wall like that til the day of revelation.

is it really that hard to realize the no.1 fan of ichigo and aizen is no other than the original creator himself? who’s really showing characters vastly different degrees of love? who’s bestowing upon a selected few ridiculous amount of power and growth rate beyond most people’s dreams and imaginations? who’s really comparing and denouncing other characters by having them train for decades only to be defeated by ichigo/aizen? sorry, but it wasn't me. the love for ichigo and aizen is personal AND OFFICIAL. that’s why kubo centers his plot around ichigo, and builds aizen as the main villain.

I agree. Judging by their generic appearance, these guys aren't that strong. I'm thinking Dol will probably defeat them with the cost of his own life and that will be that. As to why there's been no news on Renji and Rukia, I think Kubo is focusing on the humans (Ichigo, Chad and Ishida) first, then we'll get to see the progress of the shinigami (Rukia and Renji). Hopefully the rest of the gang will show off some of their new abilities and end their battles quickly. I'm not particularly impressed by the Tres Cifras, the fight between Dol and Ichigo seemed sort of like filler. Unfortunately since the caste system of Hueco Mondo hasn't been fully explained, they can continue to introduce endless ranks of low-level arrancar to throw at the heroes to have them avoid fighting the espada.

Nell having healing powers is confirming that this arc is really living up to the fear of being too similar to the SS arc. Ichigo is finding allies all over the place, ones with convenient and helpful powers at that. This is Hueco Mundo, the hollows' realm. The enemies are supposed be merciless and ruthless, the stakes are supposed to be higher. Instead this place is filled with goofy, funny hollows who are more than willing to lend a helping hand. What happened with Dol should not happen again. Nell is a great character, but hopefully she and her brothers won't play too much of a crucial role.

Well i was kinda surprised at why these espadas are called ex espadas. I think if ishida / chad cant defeat them fast, they seem pretty hopeless against espadas, not to say vastrodes. hey, to be totally obliterated, it would mean that the power difference between espada and ex espada is HUGE.

I feel that dol will just kill the guards and something. Either that, or its kubo's first kill o.O

Intresting point like the phrase First Kill ... If there is a first kill Kubo would have been better off killing Momo in SS arc ... If indeed Chad n Ishida are fighting just Tres Cefres and struggling .... Fighting even lower ranked Espada like Yami will result in total Pawnage

kubo’s already killed off replacement espada and a number of named numeros. doldonie’s no more a cannon fodder than those. a real first kill would be killing a non-flashback character ranked before 47th on the popularity chart. that’s the death of anyone more popular than a pair of glasses

even if ishida’s struggling against privalon, doesn’t mean he can’t own a true espada. remember one minute he was being owned by 1/5 renji, and the next pawning a bankai captain while being paralyzed, that’s more impressive than anything shinigami ichigo’s shown so far. then his super-genius dad not only made him fully recover from a historically unrecoverable powerless state, but also granted him new powers in a month. and despite his oath, lame excuses were found so ishida would work with shinigamis again. it’s obvious the original creator (i.e. NOT ME) is personally biased and showing lots of stupid love towards ishida, making up all kinds of farfetched reasons for his recovery and power-up. so who is to say he can’t reach a power level similar or even beyond his ultimate form before? there might be a penalty associated with it, like ichigo’s vaizard form, which is why he won’t be using it until absolutely necessary.

unfortunately, the original creator has not shown the same amount of love for chad compared to ishida, and if this arc’s anything like S.S., conquering an ex-espada/strong numeros would likely be chad's highest accomplishment.

Ishida’s the main "rival" of the series so acording to shonen conventions he should be fighting on close to the same level as Ichigo and the second strongest main hero. Remember that owning a captain had a big draw back for him before so I doubt he'll go one winged angel any time soon, but i doubt we have seen what he is now capable of doing. Chad's a tank so as long as he's not fighting a ranged oponent or one that has super speed, he should do well even with only one arm armored he may have also picked up some new tricks with the new arm. Renji is very gifted for a shinigami nearly reaching captian level in the 3 months since he became a VC (he was named vc the day before Rukia left) so as long as he fights smart I'm pretty sure he can take anyone under Yammie's level with little problem. I belive Rukia is fairly close to Renji's power level, though I doubt she has a bankai yet, but her shikai is very strong haveing been shown to one shot Gillian class arrancar

Some of these ex espadas maybe as strong as the real thing if grimjaw's demotion is common to what has happened to thes guys since he was clearly still stronger then Yammie after loseing his arm, but was completely kicked out of the espadas.

Ishida and Chad were just sitting and watching Ichigo's fight on miniTV just to start their kickass show in the right moment XD

I don't think that Dol is able to take out more than 3 of those cannon foders XD

but I liked the "becoming demon" talk a lot, if Ichigo take Dol's reaction as leason than the next Espada or whatever is dead meat right when he/she stands

According to the liner notes on the version I read, "Throat penis" is the literal translation of what she said, but it is used as a rather crude expression for the uvula. (An uvula is the little thing that hangs down in the back of your mouth.) I'm still shocked that Nell would use such an expression. OMG that is one crude little girl.

She is a crude little girl. Let's not forget her calling Ichigo a virgin. I personally thought that was one of the funniest moments in the manga. How embarassing is it to have that pointed out by a toddler? I doubt she completely understands the meaning of the things she says though. It's funny because that's way kids are, they'll hear a term used in certain context and repeat it themselves even though they have no idea what it actually means.

It's more like Grimmjow was just "grounded" for disobeying orders. After he got his arm back, he simply decided to kill Luppi and take back his position. Nobody even said a word about it, it was as if Grimmjow had never left the espada at all. It might be that Luppi was a Tres Cifiras promoted simply to temporarily fill the position since he didn't really seem powerful enough to be in the no.6 seat. He did appear to be more powerful than Yami though, so you could be right.
