ep 5

Better than last week imo and at least they kept Nishiki's flashback intact for most part, give and take a couple things.

lol at Touka suddenly showing up out of nowhere.

It's not even that anymore, even the timeline of events in between the anime and manga wildly differ. The adaptation at this point is more like how FMA 2003 is to the manga (or Brotherhood) in that shares the general plot points and characters at the base, but the execution is completely different. It's only that anime has yet to entirely separate itself from the source like the earlier FMA anime did. There really isn't much point comparing the two anymore.

He's been the bright spot for me as manga reader watching the anime, he's more hammy here than in the source, but that's not a bad thing.

Okay, I teared up a bit during the flashback. Also, Tsukiyama's done right unlike his arc...

My beef with this episode? Touka. Or, more correctly, scenes with her that got under cut which is why her involvement seems... strange, and her cool coordinated team work with Kaneki is weird.

Anyhow, I was right about waiting for every odd episode, yay.

Miyano was just perfect this episode. Nishiki's flashback was handled better than i expected from the pacing, otherwise the episode also felt rushed, but well handled to me as a manga reader.

I really feel for Nishiki now that we have seen his past and how important Kimi is to him. Kaneki's visit to Touka was also fun and so was her friend misunderstanding the situation. Touka is such a good friend.

I'm guessing the manga explains Touka's involvement in the fight better like how she knew what was going on.

I feel like Tsukiyama gets high every time he sniffs Kaneki's blood.

Anyone has a gif for that scene where Tsukiyama dancing out of the light exclaiming "HARRMOONYYY!"
At that moment, I had thrown away all my complain on the show and felt watching this is totally worth it.

Funny enough, I thought Namikawa would have made a great Tsukiyama as well.

It wasn't. Shuu let Kaneki go so he could setup elaborate stage where he could eat him while enjoying himself to the fullest.

I wasn't thinking that Tokyo Ghoul has 'To be continued' of cliffhanger battle.
And I thought Nishio's plot was over. This seems having a story of ghoul's side more than I thought.
I prefer this.

This time, I definitely got the feeling this was rushed. Everything happened so fast, with pretty much no transitions between events.

Miyano made this episode awesome though. He's carrying the whole show on his shoulders at the moment. When his character kicks the bucket (I can't see him getting redemption like Nishio), this anime will never be the same again.

I feel like Tsukiyama is the most entertaining character to watch at this point, his crazy acts and so called high class life style make him interesting enough to say the least. His character can't carry the show for long though, while I am not sure how long this arch will drag out I feel his character would easily lose appeal over time due to the nature of his character, but it is great while it lasts.

I think I agree with people though that some parts seem rushed, like they didn't even bother explaining why Touka was at the church, a simple I followed you or something doesn't seem like too much to ask for .

Not a manga reader, and thought the pacing was spot-on. Didn't feel rushed at all and had a very natural and insistent flow.

Miyano was amazing in this epi. Tsukiyama is by far the most entertaining character.

Kaneki's actions just continuously make me face palm. Yeah lets go fight a guy who has been to eat me and not tell anyone...

I thought so to, but Miyano's been doing a great job.

It's only been with the last two episode's that I've been really bothered by the changes more so in the previous episode, only because they change Kaneki's characterization so much, as well as his motivations for doing things. He comes off way more naive and careless then he should/is. The anime is still enjoyable, but it really has become something of a different beast now.
