If it ends in a no-contest, or even a tie, I'd be very shocked and disappointed, to the point I'd even consider dropping this manga.
No way Souma wouldn't win against that poser and scrub of a 1st seat, not after training under Master Shinomiya for a week. After Souma wins, I think MehGloomy should try her luck and challenge that vampire girl for her seat. Who knows? Souma's powers of being the MC may just rub off her. |

After this, armed with the power of being the MC, he should challenge Aizen to a Shokugeki. After all, we want Aizen gone ASAP, so don't be shocked if the story returns to status quo within the next 10 chapters or so. |

I want him to lose not because for the plot purpose anymore, more like to have Souma realizes his limit knowledge and I want to see the fact Tsukuda is a buff type or not. His manga is failing down, a stupid move now and a number of fan could leave the fandom anytime. |

What I'm trying to say is common sense and portrayal says Eishi should clearly stomp Souma. It's a shounen manga, things could go in unexpected directions, but the author did not even let Souma win against Hayama, I have a really hard time believing he's letting Souma win against this White Knight Gary Stu. He's up against the strongest man in Totsuki, if he wins then there'd be no threats left for him.

Honestly, the only way I really seeming him winning here is if the 1st seat lets him win in order to further his own agenda in some way shape or form. It is fairly obvious Soma is no where near the level of the #1 chef although I will give the author a lot of credit that this chapter was written near perfectly to make you feel like Soma actually has a chance, so massive props there.

The Souma now is a totally different chef. And with the resolve and determination not to lose under shounen conditions, he can pull this off. And no more threats? He still has to take down Aizen, the international students, and ultimately, his father. |

^Exactly. Souma underwent training much like Ryou so it's time to see what the result of that training under Shinomiya. And if Shinomiya, who was a former 1st seat graduate himself who specializes in French cuisine acknowledges Souma's abilities then clearly Souma has what it takes to take the 1st seat.
And like Dysprosium said there are plenty more opponents left for Souma to overcome. Winning against Eishi won't lead to the end of this manga at all.

Gin, the former 1st seat graduate acknowledged Souma, Ryo and Hayama's abilities, even foodgasmed from their foods. Yet they clearly didn't have what it takes to take on the first seat. Kurokiba even after training is merely E10 reserve level, as he said he wasn't sure he could beat Rentarou a second time. Souma being Eishi level just because he 'trained' under Shinomiya for a week would be 1:Horrible writing 2:Totally destroy his rivalry with his peers.

1) Sound like typical Shonen writing to me. To call it horrible writing is equating other Shonen stories to have bad writing as well. 2) Not really. The theme they are doing is French cuisine so there is 50% chance what Souma learned under Shinomiya is enough to at least equal Eishi's food. You seem to underestimate the result of what 1 week of training does in Shonen stories. True they are BS but it has always been so is that genre. Power ups happen all the time in those manga.
