So I got started on this nifty little series after hearing lots of good things about it, and I'm currently on ep8. After looking around on the internet for reviews, what surprised me was the apparent consensus that the ED is a pile of crap as compared to the rest of the show. For me, the ED clinched it as a show worthy to be continued on. Kajiura Yuki makes another winner!
That said, I like this new approach of varying viewpoints on the same events, with each character viewing a different frame at a single time. It can be quite confusing though, considering the myriad of characters that are featured. Though things like visually and aurally distinct characters help in initially distinguishing them all, adding events happening in another place in another timezone(New York, I believe?) kind of made me just sit back stop bothering with the progression over there. Frankly till now I still don't get how Firo and Luck fit into the whole equation, but I hope that will change at the end, since the series made them rather likeable. Now to continue the watch! Oh, any possible reasons why hasn't this been licensed yet given it's themes? I'd have thought this is a shoo-in. |

Oh yeah, yet another question about some random background character that's not important, but still has me curious:
Who's that blonde girl who sort of looks like Misa from Deathnote in episodes 15 and 16? In 16 she was in the room with Nick, Donny, and the chef and waiter, when Nicholas was telling the editor about Jacuzzi's gang. In 15, she was part of the gang that came to Jacuzzi's aid against Graham Spector. Does she appear anywhere else with Jacuzzi's gang? I just remember her because her design seems more distinctive than the other generics that are part of Jacuzzi's gang, plus she was the only one to appear with the named cast during Nicholas' explanation in 16. |

Well, Funi put up a preview of episode 1 on this site
http://funimation.com/baccano/ password: The Flying Pussyfoot Course, everyone here has seen it already so I guess it's somewhat pointless to post unless you want to judge Funi's subtitles.

I'm rather surprised that the video appears to be in 16:9 rather than DVD resolution. The announcement video linked to by darkchibi07 doesn't tell us anything about release formats. DVDs? Blu-Ray? Download only?
Has anyone downloaded something from Funi's download-to-own service? What file format(s) do they offer? I'm not sure if a preview of the first episode will attract a surge of viewers for the rest of the series. I dropped Baccano! for a couple of months after watching the first episode because it didn't really grab me. Only after I read a lot of buzz here from people whose opinions I trust did I go back and try it again.

How could they fail at their own stuff =P? ITs anime based on mafia from Chicago and New york. ITs something that its within their own turf. So this anime would actually be good for them. I cant wait for the dvds to come out.

I know it is the same demon from the ship. But I meant, does he appear any other place besides the third ova? I think I saw him at the end of the series, episode 13. Did he appear any other placer before it( beside the ship)?

FUNimation now has subtitled episodes 1-8 of Baccano! listed on its "download-to-own" site. Since they're all encumbered with DRM, I won't be buying it there. Does anyone know whether we should also expect to see DVDs some day as well?
I might just pay the $24.99 for the whole season but keep my fansubs. Maybe I'll just mail a check to Brains-Base instead.

FUNimation has rights to distribute this online only in the United States (or maybe all of "Region 1"). Europe and Japan are in "Region 2." See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code.
