Just finished the game, it was pretty good. I didn't even recognize that the inspiration of this disease is an actual disease that occurs in animals (the most infamous video being of the ants). I like that Joel is fairly ruthless as a necessary survival mechanism, sometimes ruthlessness can save other lives. Altruism and self sacrifice are too overplayed. If you let a murderer go, he'll probably murder again, not take your words into great consideration and change his ways.

The issue with the fungus spreading to humans or even mammals is that while it might well be toxic and deadly, the amount of complexity needed to actually be able to take over a large animal's brain and control it the same way it does ants is a lot harder to achieve. Still, The Last of Us at least presents a halfway plausible possibility, and one that because of it is actually scarier than your typical zombie apocalypse.

What a terrific game. Naughty Dog has really outdone themself in nearly every way imaginable in creating this near perfect character drama. As a video game I have some issues with the gameplay and mechanics, but as a dramatic story 'Last of Us' is easily one of the best games put out on the PS3. What a fun time.

EDIT: My English is not the best, I just realised.
I'm getting this for my Birthday, since my dad is on Vacation so he asked what game he should get while he's travelling back. I'm quite excited and can't wait to play it, since I hear pretty much everyone praising it. Just a question though, does it has a difficulty setting.
