I'm trying to translate it now but I'm sure someone with a greater knowledge of Chinese can do it before me. BTW: she seems to be writing a letter to someone. Based on the Chinese characters, I'm assuming she is writing to another Claymore? The first three characters look like a transliterated name (I'm thinking it may be Elena because the Chinese characters are pronounced ai-lee-nah [I'm taking a guess on the "nah" because that is how it is pronounced without the pictograph for woman])... Okay here is my very imperfect attempt at translating. I haven't taken Chinese in nearly ten years so there are some words that I'm not sure of their meanings, but with the help of two dictionaries I think I got most of it. Again, anyone with better knowledge can fix any errors, since I know there's gonna be at least one. Spoiler for rough translation:

My mom was born in Taiwan and my father is from Hong Kong but I was born in the U.S. Used to go to Chinese school on Sundays to learn Mandarin but it got too difficult for me...all we were doing was memorizing passages in the book. I tried taking a Chinese class in the summer in 2002...it helped a little but not enough. I can speak Chinese decently but I cannot write it well at all. My only source of pride is that I can still write my name (most Chinese I know either can't remember a character or two, or don't even know how). |
